Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
Marksman replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It ridiculous, let them pull out, we don’t need them in all 3 leagues. 8 teams with 28 league fixtures is a good number -
I know nothing is likely to change but hope we get the Tigers vs Comets more than 1H, 1A next season. Both sides take a good away following and certainly generates interest this end. It's a travesty when you think Poole/Oxford raced each other 8 times this year. Something has to change, and if the reason for lack of meetings is mainly down to Oxford running 3 sides, then it's an absolute shambles. I fear that it's just going to be the same old BSN groups and then the same league format.

Was all postive from his time at the Comets, I think it helped as he has a real respect for Steve. On the flip side, if he doesn't respect someone or a track it really shows through and rightly so I can see why he can be classed as all the names he gets called on here. Some people like Troy seem to thrive on it, but more often than not he was a joy to watch and wouldn't be a surprise if he picks up our Rider of the Year award. I guess the sport needs characters like him, one thing is for sure he deflected a lot of the usual heat from Cookie this year 😂

Simple reason is if you have Cook, Batchelor, Zischke and Vuolas they would come to 30.4 alone. As well as he done it's a numbers game and the other 3 are probably certs.

He would ride anywhere, said worse at Plymouth also live on BSN. Then popped up there guesting for them a few times only a few weeks later... -

No, this was recently on BSN when the Comets won there in August -
Other one I had was; 1 Craig Cook 8.42 2 Mitchell Cluff 5 3 Tate Zischke 6.96 4 Jason Edwards 6.18 5 Antti Vuolas 6.4 6 Freddy Hodder 2 7 Connor Bailey 4.97 39.93 These are assuming Connor wants to return of course, I think he will at somepoint. The Americans, Lightcap and Martin who rode in the Ben Fund would come in on 4pt averages, but don't think they'd quite cut it.
-
Was thinking the same 4. If Starke doesn't return it'll be only the other 3. These are the best I could come up (if the limit is 40) and we go for a bit of strength at reserve and be very hard to beat at home. 1 Craig Cook 8.42 2 Connor Bailey 4.97 3 Tate Zischke 6.96 4 Mitchell Cluff 5 5 Antti Vuolas 6.4 6 Paul Starke 3.36 7 Danyon Hume 4.87 39.98

I'm sure something will be announced at the Presentation night, clubs appear to be getting on with the announcements already. Points limit must be known, I think it might be 40. From this year's team I think 4 will return and we will be strong at reserve.

The numbers don't fit on the 40 point team, Hook's average is 4.19

Nicholls just posted on Instagram and ended with "Really enjoyed this season so now it’s time to recover and get ready for 2025👍🏻" I'd assume he'll be back at Oxford and just doing his TV work again.

There will be a certain British rider at No.1 which was much to my surprise when I was told on Saturday night, but looking back others have mentioned it here too.
-
It was changed this year for both Prem and Champ to 6 meetings (any home/away combination) Last season in the Championship it was 8 (4H + 4A), and 6 (3H + 3A) in the Prem.

I said at the start of the season this situation would happen, there have should have been some kind of average retention policy brought in for retaining the new batch of 2.00 riders. It would only apply to new 2.00 riders retained at the same club for the following season. A 15% cut would reward clubs for developing said rider and reward the rider with another team spot for making progess in the sport, not penalising for doing well! Luke's 4.43 would become 3.77, which can become alot more inviting for team building purposes. Whether things like this are even discussed are another matter.

As for 2024 rider thoughts and riders returning in 2025; Cookie - Good season, lead from the front especially away from home, some incredible performances on the road. Unfortunate to miss a few meetings. 100% will be back from what I heard on Saturday. Tate - Obviously already signed but looks to be making quick progress in his recovery. Can’t wait to see him ride again in 2025, a real crowd puller. Antti - Great season overall, struggled seeing the away tracks for the first time, but is to be expected. Probably an 8 point plus rider next year. 110% would have back. Claus - Good meetings at times away from home. But few and far between, not worth the money flying him over every week. Won’t be back Batch - Good season, led from the front in Cookies absence more times than not. Always beats who he should beat, but struggles against the very top guys in the league. Doesn’t have their speed. I’d imagine he won’t be back next season, mainly because his points can be best used elsewhere ( Team building average is higher than Cook’s) Sam McGurk - not a lot to say really, can’t imagine he’ll be back in this league anytime soon. Starke - Great to have some firepower at reserve late on in the season. 10 points at Poole was a highlight. 100% would have back on his 3.40 average to start at reserve in 2025.

Amen to that. To be fair the bloke who posted that is probably just pessimistic😂 Never want to get your hopes up too much in life. There’s a long term project going on, it does need people to support, but in general I was impressed by some of the attendances this year.

Well done to Poole, was NID as they say. The meeting was a bit drab today by our standards. But we’ve had some really great meetings at Northside this year so can’t complain. Crowd level was a bit strange, as the crowds have been good majority of the year (bigger than what most clubs get) can kinda expect it against Plymouth but maybe the combination of the crap weather, the 3rd home meeting against Poole and being live on BSN were factors today. Roll on 2025
