  1. Starting this thread to state what I hope would improve British Speedway season as I don't believe this suggestion has been made?. I don't believe for one minute there will be radical changes, we won't see a change to a single race night in the EL, probably wouldn't work due to stadium commitments etc. The main changes I would like to see is for the EL to revert back to it's original race format, this seasons draft format has done the sport no favours IMO, to many races are uncompetitive from what i've seen on TV, which goes on to my main suggestion is that the Fast Track list is retained to an extent to provide a list of around 30 riders and Have 1 British rider to ride at Number 7 in both EL and PL. Mainly to include riders 25 or under, although Lewis Blackbird is 27 but was included on this seasons list. There may be a case for Adam Roynon or Robert Lambert (if he agrees) to be added to the list too but have gone for 10 names so far. EL British Riders List Howarth Auth Birks Wright S Worrall R Worrall Blackbird Kerr Garrity Newman With the above riding at reserve in the old format, they will ride against better riders with only one reserve heat. The list is fairly balanced, isn't many weak names on that list. The PL teams will then be allocated the next best riders with possibly a draft done in reverse order to this season league table: Ellis Nielsen Starke Morris Jacobs Bates Rose Greenwood Perry Sarjeant Lambert Morley Halsey Greaves This way the EL is strengthened and the points limit should be brought up to at least 37 for 6 riders with the lowest average rider riding at Number 6, but would swap places with the main body depending on averages. British draft riders would stay at Number 7 all season. Guests and replacement riders for both leagues would be taken from the draft list as they have this season. The PL points limit could drop to either 39.5 or 40 for 6 riders, but would not reduce the quality because most of the riders in the list are riding at reserve in the PL anyways. Around a 4/5% reduction could be given to all British riders, who are not Draft riders. Probably missed something I wanted to mention but they surely can't stick with the same system they had this season! Thoughts?
  2. Good news, I wonder if Zagar had an influence in Gorzow approaching him, be interesting to see if he rides on Sunday.
  3. Kyle Howarth fit to ride, R/R for Bach and Ryan Blacklock at 7 in place of Lambert.
  4. Meeting off, looks like it's been run tomorrow? Guessing Poole won't be riding at Lakeside on TV tomorrow then!
  5. I don't think anyone has passed Josh G like that this season it's normally the other way round. Rusty is loved at DP people pay to watch exciting racing and to me Rusty was worth the admission alone last week.
  6. I know what your saying, but we will be much stronger at reserve with Jacobs and Lambert especially at home then we have been all season. Pick up 6 points tomorrow night and we'll see what happens... Least we don't have the legend that is Rusty Harrison to contend with, until next week that is !
  7. Would be disappointed if the Comets don't make the playoffs. Think we should be fine, especially starting tomorrow we can actually track our own 7 riders for the first time in months!
  8. Blimey, your hard to please, what exactly is an out and out number 1 then? He's been averaging just under 10!
  9. You can't account for the weather, but we haven't exactly made it easy for ourselves. How on earth we are expecting to fit in 18 meetings in 30 days starting next Saturday is beyond me, Just look at June where we had 3 League meetings scheduled (Home and Away) and one of those was abandoned! Not exactly good planning is it.
  10. Already planning doing the last three weeks of the World Cup over there, so if that where to happen I'd be made up. But with the NRL season and A League seasons underway, Melbourne Victory are actually at home on Fri 27th, at the Eitihad, So unfortunately I can't see it happening in Melbourne.
  11. Thanks, would be a big boost for us, the promotion already confirmed on twitter he'll be resting for a week or two, was abit silly of him to ride tonight.
  12. Currently not looking too great for us on Saturday, with Josh G probably still missing, Howarth now missing after for some reason trying to ride tonight injured, Ricky Wells away at the GP semi final and Morris out for some time. Also with plenty of PL action on saturday night, there's not a great deal of choice regarding guests for Josh and Ricky. 1. ? 2. Mason Campton 3. ? 4. R/R 5. Rene Bach 6. Simon Lambert 7. Taylor Poole (G) The Witches should be at full strength for a stretch of three meetings in three days.
  13. Booing for the rolling at the tapes was justified, blatant cheating, cheating equals booing, what don't people get about this? Do they watch other sports. We have passionate fans, abit of booing isn't going to kill anyone.
  14. Obviously never seen the monarchs pair rolling at the start then? Awful decision gave an unfair advantage and gifted a 5-1. Yes it's unfortunate for the away fans but it pretty much happens to lots of speedway fans over time, and some comments about the lack of ambulances and comparisons are laughable, people obviously don't understand that Workington is a small town, you can't compare the resources that big cities would have on there doorstep compared to West Cumbria. If the county ambulance nearby is already in use, what are the promotion meant to do.
  15. Lawson is guesting for us at No1, but hasn't been announced who's guesting for Ashley yet.
  16. Much better lineup with Lawson and Bridger in now, although Bridger hasn't raced at Berwick before I think we could see all 4 brits progress.
  17. Hopefully Josh G is okay after being taken out by Fisher tonight , can't see him being able to ride tomorrow but theres no news on him yet so fingers crossed.
  18. Mills was averaging a marginally better 1.62 so far this season. Can't see Lambert improving us much, he seems to have an awkward riding style but will still have more pace than around DP than Mills I think, but away from home not expecting much. Will be interesting to see if he lasts the season.
  19. Yeah Gary Irving pulled out of Scunthorpe's team before last season and retired, his average is 4.00, so we would need 2 changes but can't really see him riding again.
  20. I think there will be another change along with Mills, probably will be Wells. This would leave us 10.46 points left to be able to re-declare at 42.50, think the promotion may be looking to change the balance of the team with two 5 point or so riders, with us able to track one of them at reserve hence have a potential match winner there. Wonder if Michael Palm-Toft could double up? I see his average is 4.92, seems to have impressed the Belle Vue fans. Can't see many clashes with there fixtures
  21. Berwick very good, Comets very poor pretty much sums up last night. For me only one Comet had a off-night that was Mason Campton, bar JG the rest who didn't score well haven't had many on-nights to be put in the category of having an off-night. Josh G - Best rider on show, and probably our best since Stoney Mason - Like I said he had an off-night, but has been very good so far so isn't a worry Wells - Decent score, funny thing was he didn't quite look as good as his points tally in my opinion Howarth - tries too hard, that's what you what but it just isn't working out for him at all, blew 3 points and a 5-1 in heat 3 Bach - Rene not too great again, so inconsistent and will probably never kick on and improve from where he's at now Mills - Awful, maybe even worse than last season, nil points what more can you say Morris - Looked pretty quick early on, is capable enough and is in the Howarth bracket of trying too hard So wondering now if the promotion are looking at changes? If so, we've probably got 5 riders underperforming at the moment, that's everyone bar the Aussies. Howarth and Morris are both still under 21, capable and more than committed, Bach is now our asset and captain and really can't see him getting the boot. That leaves Wells and Mills the ones to be sacrificed, it may be a little harsh on Wells, but as other people have mentioned is he all that committed anyways? Don't even need to comment on why Mills should go. That would leave us nearly 11 points to get 2 riders in, this way we could strengthen with a 5 point reserve perhaps, the trouble is finding these riders, but if the right ones did come along in the next few weeks, I don't think we should hesitate in making them, as at the moment can anyone see this side winning the league?
  22. Threw a quick shower already, some dark clouds around but also some pretty bright patches of blue sky! and with it forecast no further rain this afternoon, can't see many problems getting the meeting on.
  23. Ah yes mentally fragile eh, is that what you call it now when you need all 4 points to qualify for the Semi Finals away from home and it goes down to needing a heat advantage in heat 15! and end up winning by 10 points How did Peterborough get on at Workington and Glasgow? Qualification went down to Match points average. Somerset's was 1.75 (14 from 8 meetings) Workington's was 1.83 (11 from 6)
