  1. We will have plenty of improvers in our full line up for sure. Mason deserves his place, added over 1 point to his starting average and stepped up when many others failed last season.
  2. Workington soon to be 3 of course, Stonehewer, Kildemand and Cook.
  3. 2 point starting average still stands for newcomers from the National League, so Kyle Bickley will be a 2.00
  4. So our request to change race night to Fridays was rejected. But Glasgow and Scunthorpe are fine they can move to Fridays! Whole thing stinks to me, must be good having someone from your club on the BSPA management committee. Sticking with Saturday nights isnt going to go well, competing against 10 weeks where Craig Cook will be riding on tv in the Grand Prix, yes youll be amazed how many wouldnt bother going and saving their cash. Add in all the other things and events attend on a Saturday, the Comets management have really got a big task on their hands to improve crowds.
  5. Wouldn't say it was strange Mason scored well at number 3, he's a much improved rider nowadays and will continue to improve. Definately agree on the switch between 2 and 4, could of made us tick, a very strange decision indeed! If we continue to run next season a change of aproach to the team management side of things would be a good start. In fact, the total lack of communication from the promotion in recent months is concerning and the club could do with some fresh ideas from those either closest to the club or even some very willing volunteers with the right prowess.
  6. Cookie was back on the gas last night, shaved 0.7 off the track record! After how open he was with his problems last night, I feel this will be the turning point, and he will head to Russia and put in a good performance.
  7. Derwent Park has an official capacity of 10,000, would be a bit less for the speedway as certain parts at the front get cordoned off.
  8. Shocking indeed, no logic in that decision at all. Ellis obviously only in at 5 because he rides for Swindon. I see Mark Lemon hasn't made that mistake with Max Fricke! Because he is a wise guy, Rossiter is not!
  9. Very windy today which hopefully will help the track dry out quick this afternoon, the sky is beginning to brighten up. Rain is heading east now, so fingers crossed.
  10. Good win tonight, we caught Redcar at a good time fortunately, but all the Comets rode well, including Rob Shuttleworth who was on the pace despite not scoring. 4 points from 3 away meetings is a fantastic start, considering we only got 7 away points in total over the last 2 seasons!
  11. I must be missing something here? Ricky Wells has rode consistently well for quite a while now, one of the best gaters I've seen and like Craig Cook has stepped up another level this season. Very good signing for Rye, will be one of their top performers in most meetings.
  12. Cookie is missing Comets trip to Edinburgh on 5th May, because he's doing a GP Qualifier on the 6th, he mentioned it in the live Facebook video the other day, i'd imagine Danny King is the other rider picked.
  13. The Berwick promotion should just bite the bullet and re-declare the line up now before other teams start making changes, or are forced to due to injuries etc. Riders will soon be hard to find. Something similar to this line up would improve things; and those riders will be available on a Saturday Lewis Bridger 8.53 Joe Jacobs 5.36 Claus Vissing 6.80 Kevin Doolan 6.99 Justin Sedgmen 7.60 Zach Wajknecht 2.63 Ryan Blacklock 2.00 Weak at reserve, but most teams are.
  14. Dan Bewley will be the best reserve in the league I think. Better prospect than Shanes
  15. Since when have clubs ever charged people to attend a meet the riders event or watch a Practice Session though? I think that's the point here.
  16. You probably sat and wondered how long it would take for someone to post something because you know what's coming is realistic the way the sport is. I mainly posted because all I see is praise of what Glasgow are doing, in terms of fan, social media involvement, and overall improvements that is true, but what is blatantly obvious is they are paying riders over the odds, charging the public more because of this and probably need a crowd of well over a thousand to break even, which has already been mentioned by the promotion. No matter who the owners are, once crowds drop slightly and they are running at a loss, no one will want to fund the speedway out of their own pockets. If Glasgow are still running in 2 years time in the same way they are now I and a lot of others will be shocked. Unfortunately speedway is not like football where people will still go whatever price they are paying. Speedway is usually family sport and this could cost someone £50+ (without any food costs) every week to take a family of four. Cruelly, sometimes Glasgow's own success can be a downfall too, what happens later in a season, where a team visits who are running to a budget and you know it's going to be a one sided 65+ result will those occasional fans still attend? If not, as seen at other tracks around the league, unfortunately they soon get out of the habit of going.
  17. Glasgow even charging fans to watch P + P and the meet the riders event now. They will soon price themselves out of the game once the novelty wears off. Managed to charge me £3 for a portion of awful chips last Sunday!
  18. The rule was changed at the AGM so the club the rider has ridden for the longest have preference. So for Craig Cook, if he signs for Belle Vue, they would have priority over Workington. If a rider was riding for 2 new clubs, It would then go on which league the team he's owned by rides in.
  19. James Shares wasn't scoring double figures in the Premier League though. It would not surprise me if Dan Bewley is averaging more than double of what Shanes is at the end of the season.
  20. We've been touted as one of the top teams pre-season for the last 2/3 years, that's never gone to plan has it. Maybe underdog or dark horse status may do the trick I think quite a few of our riders will improve on their average next year, with Ty Proctor surprising a lot of people.
  21. Wouldn't put it past them to announce Seb Ulamek next
  22. Graversen is 3.83, no one could of predicted that one!
