  1. Nice bloke but out of his comfort zone by a long way.Having said that the fans at Brandon will tell you there is someone much worse .
  2. Big mistake IMO staking your future on KK there are far more reliable riders than him just ask any Bees fan if they think you are getting a good deal even if he is David Hemsley,s next door neighbour.
  3. Sad news R.I.P. Tony condolences to family and friends
  4. Speedway was already on Sky when Ice Hockey signed up and they ran tandem transmissions for two years but Ice Hockey didn,t sign up for the third year as this was where the contract stipulated they had to pay Sky for transmission.Ice Hockey is still on Sky as a highlight show and I have been told the crowds have gone up since they are not live on TV anymore which seems to point towards maybe an upturn for Speedway crowds once Sky have quit but promoters have got to get off their backsides and actually care about their fans .Was that a pig just flown by my window.
  5. Top Class post I think Cookie will figure again in a GB race jacket he is just letting the Media hype settle down and then he can get back in the groove winning races hopefully for his country He deserves to be picked
  6. Volty Interesting to see your comment on the flyers advertising Drift Racing because I am sure this term relates to two cars racing side by side around a track normally on a figure of eight set up racing against the clock dont think it would involve Speedway bikes but I stand to be corrected I hope . As I am not a Leicester supporter is there any reason why Charles Wright couldn,t figure in Lions team as the guy is on fire at the moment and I know the N/L is not up to the P/L standard but I feel he could score probably 33% of what he is now which in the last 4 weeks or so includes 3 X 21 pt maximums plus a couple of other high double figure scores so an estimated score of 90 pts (or more to tired to check actual total) divide that by 3 = 30 pts over the 5 meetings gives a healthy 6 pts per meeting pretty useful from a reserve slot.Or is he not flavour of the month. cheers Mick C
  7. I Think Neil should step down as he has had a couple of turbulent years connected with his own club much of which was not of his doing and as per usual this can,t help when you are trying to concentrate your thoughts into other projects etc .He is a nice bloke who unfortunately has to try and make a silk purse out of a sows ear (the England team who as a team were not good enough and havn,t been for a hell of a long time).I would like te see Peter Adams given a shot at the job ,If he was interested, as you only have to look at Wolverhampton as a going concern to see he is very solid at the head of team affairs.Don,t think Phil Morris is ready to be top boss yet but by all means use him as an understudy .Or contraversially bring in a outsider there are a hell of a lot ex international riders with years of racing experience who wouldn,t be members of the old boys club .We as a nation are a joke in the speedway world and have been for 2/3 years and unless we have a massive shake up it won,t get any better.
  8. Have I missed a ban being imposed on a certain poster 3 pages in and not one idiotic post from KKS/TJH/MJJ etc etc sorry to everyone else if I have ruined the thread from now on cheers Mick my choice would be 1st Poland by 2pts 2nd Denmark 3rd Australia 1pt behind the danes
  9. The only thing D H did wrong on Sat night was deliver the B********g in front of other people instead of behind closed doors .Having said this the pits area is supposed to be for riders/mechanics and officials only so there was obviously some one in there only to happy to spread gossip about what basically was nothing to do with them or anybody else. When you are 12 pts up on your own track the team as a whole should be able to see out the win especially if you are pushing for the title as the Lions are.Talk about riders revolting at E/burgh on Friday night shouldnt be on here as public knowledge because this shows the current squad do not deserve to be employed by anyone let alone DH .Before some of you jump down my throat I am neither a DH or Lions fan I,m just someone who has been a fan of a tremendous sport (since 65) and worked trackside as a trackman for 20yrs .There seems to be a certain undercurrent of fans that have and never will accept DH as the owner of their team you could get your wish soon which will be a sad day for genuine Lions fans as in the curent climate of expense and cost there aren,t many people willing to risk money resulting in closure of B/P
  10. Thx Buxton Tiger didn,t know they ran Stock Cars so that would be reason enough for the H&S to try and insist each re-erection of the bags would class as a new build smacks of extra money in to their coffers as I suppose they don,t do it for nowt. Najjer I think B,T,s answered both our queries
  11. I am a bit confused with the post from Sheffield concerning why they wouldn,t have time to erect an air fence after dogs. I have been working around dogs /air fences since the first one was put in at Coventry and at Peterborough and Oxford .The first two tracks are pretty easy to put up or take down as the way the tracks are built provides a solid fence to erect against .Oxford on the other hand is similar to Sheffield in that it is a mesh fence .On deflation after the meeting the bags are left lying flat still connected together at the bottom of the fence you get a clear view all the way round for dog racing and then on off days you can blow it up jet wash it clean then let it down again until race day.Once the fence has been connected together at Sheffield the Council can inspect it before the start of the season and in theory that is then a constant item which the H&S shouldn,t need to see again until the start of the next season as you are not taking it apart.Having been to Sheffield, and watched dogs on tele from there as well, there shouldn,t be any problem leaving it flat on the inside of the fence.Surely the tigers promotion would have a strong case of defence against H&S if this was left as I have explained or am I way off the mark in my understanding of your problem .Just trying to put a few ideas across from someone who has put up and taken down quite a few in the past .cheers Mick C..
  12. I have been privileged to information regarding the shale used yesterday and I wonder if Ole and his crew should have reacted earlier in the week by maybe getting new shale delivered to lay track as per Mon/Tues .Apparently the shale was not under cover at Newport but left outside on the Docks area whether it had been moved out during the closed season or just in the last month or so,or not been put in in the first place. The moisture content is tested with a probe pushed in in different places and I think ,but I,m sure ,an acceptable figure is around 5% to 7% to lay track and work it .The reported reading taken at start of the week was 17% .Obviously way over and working in side where you don,t get permanent sunshine(when we get any) or wind the drying process is virtually non existent .This reading should have been taken at the onset of work and IMO measures should have been implemented to get other shale providers within the uk to load up and get to Cardiff post haste.Breedon Quarries have been mentioned ref last night,s shale but it didnt come from them as having worked with their shale at Cardiff in previous years and at Coventry also ,last night the shale was different in colour (a lot lighter) and the texture and it looked to me as if sand had been mixed in with what ever they were passing off as shale.A lot of people have knocked track prep at Cardiff over the years and it was crap when we started but it has been the best indoor track for about the last 5 to 6 years haven,t been involved since 2011, but last night was very poor and dangerous .Well done to all the riders for giving it a go Commiserations to Tai .Unfortunately once again we are talking about Cardiff for all the wrong reasons,.Hopefully we will get an honest explanation on what happened but I won,t hold my breath likewise if I am proved wrong I will apologise but I don,t think that will be necessary.
  13. you seem to either don,t understand or don,t want to understand the logistics of how the shale is delivered .Ok there is a roof so what the shale isn,t stored in the stadium. It is kept at Newport under cover warehousing and it is then transported by not one but 40 vehicles the 10 miles distance to Cardiff. There has been reports that it was sweating while undercover in Newport but this hasn,t been confirmed but the weather in Wales last weekend into Monday and Tuesday was pretty wet so maybe it wasn,t sheeted on vehicles as well as it could be .I don,t think anyone will ever know just keep fingers crossed it will ride ok tonight but only having been laid about 5 hrs ago there will be a big possibilty it will cut up.
  14. Unfortunately I no longer prepare tracks but if I did you would retract the part of your statement in which you said it can,t be hard to prepare a track after working with me for a couple of weeks doing what is a bloody hard job you would hopefully change your mind .Its not a 9 to 5 job it is goverened totally by the weather and time lines eg..when the stadium allow you on track .I was involved on practice and race day for 7 yrs with Colin Meredith at Cardiff and believe me Sleep for the week is about 7th or 8th on the list of things to do ..I know there is a roof but if the shale has maybe come in wet or damp you are on the backfoot from the get go.Usually the shale is stored in the same place every year but according to some one there today they said it is totally different colour to that which normally gets used. The plot thickens..
  15. I have been an occasional visitor last year and came to the match against Sheffield this year .I noticed the track did produce better racing on the dreaded third /fourth bend line this year as there were at least two inside passes by Leics riders which I didn,t see much of last year .Being an experienced trackman with over ten years of E/L meetings under my belt the home riders obviously want the track prepared how they want it and I don,t see why the home supporters are complaining that Glyn has done what was asked of him.My biggest gripe with riders during any meetings was the fact that they always seem to turn up with two bikes set up the same I.E two for grippy or two for slick WHY.in the English climate we all know the weather can change so much in a short time which means what ever you prepare can be different at tapes up .One set up grippy one set up slick would seem to me to be a no brainer or am I missing something ? Good riders can adapt but in the last few years they are few and far between Cheers just my thoughts Mick C be interesting to see if you agree or would like to shoot me down Tin Hat at the ready.
  16. Didnt think we had much rain between Monday and Thursday and the practice didnt do much damage surely the track should have been packed down extra hard like the M6 giving the promoters a chance to earn some much needed money for the coffers Ive not had chance to get up there this week cos Ive been in classroom all week sitting exams for the new LGV lorry legislation that I dont need till Sept 2014 This post isn,t meant to ruffle feathers its just an ex trackmans thoughts Cheers Mick C.
  17. As I said I wont hold my breath and I don,t need to grow up and just for the record I,m no fool I wasn,t trying to be clever or make you look stupid.but heigh ho thats two digs you have had at me now I wont bother you again I,ve got better things to do .
  18. Seeing as you only posted 8 names in your original post I don,t take very kindly to you calling me a Wally as what I read in your post mentioned nothing about the Bees website so, of the figures in front me at the time ,I was quite entitled to ask the question and my facts were right .Name calling ain,t big and it definately aint clever an apology would be nice but I won,t hold my breath.
  19. Am I missing something here or are your maths skills not up to much If there are 7 bees riders and Chris Harris confimed that makes 8 in total if as you say there are only 2 more to be annouced where are the other six names as an individual meeting consists of 16 riders
  20. Anybody know why Scott NIcholls wasn,t given a chance I know Tai will score a few points but still think Scotty deserved a shot if we have to have a Brit representative. .I don,t think with Tai,s leanings towards Aussie he will be truly supported by the majority of British fans hope he proves me and others wrong
  21. Can you advise how to find CT sports coverage as I am currently laid up at home after getting injured at work on Monday I could do with a methanol injection
  22. Agree something should be done as most but not all riders try a practice start then return to the pit gate. As soon as all 4 are up to the start line a simple way to keep them there in my opinion is for the assistant start marshall to pull an elasticated rope, which is already attached to the fence approximately 3 feet behind the rear of the bikes, across the track to the inside line which will prevent the riders from turning around .To much time is spent gardening at the tapes so once the rope is drawn across the 2 mins should be on straight away. This IMO would lead to a quicker turn round of the main meeting and maybe we could return to 2nd halves for those who wanted to stay and maybe get more for their hard earned pennies .Why do I mention 2nd halves its for one good reason we as a nation are at the bottom of the pile as regards riders coming through with the standard required for E/L or the national squad .I know the N/L and P/L have got a good standard of riders but only half a dozen good enough to hold their own in the top league We all know its a lot harder getting track time in the U/K because most of the tracks arn,t owned by the actual promoters but as he or she has paid for it on race night why not use it as much as possible.Sorry its a bit long but I think its a couple of valid points and unless the promoters do something soon we shan,t have nowt to watch in U/K terms in the probable near future. Just one more thing when I was aTrack Curator I had to have a licence and we had a standard to uphold within the confines of the SCB rule book With the latest debacle at Poole last night adding to things that have gone on regarding track prep at other places this year the SCB need to tighten up everyone and everything immediately cos the fee paying clientel won,t stand for it much more .
  23. Just watched Tarnow be robbed of a possible win at Gorzow in ht 14 the start marshal moved over Gomolski in gate one,who had already scored 7 pts, when he wanted to start right on the inside next to the white line. Cant see why as I am pretty sure you are allowed to start anywhere you like within the confines of the line markings per gate.I believe he would have beaten again for a 2nd time, a very poor Jepsen Jensen who only had 4 pts from 3 rides. Score would have then been 41 42 .Then in ht 15 the Ref missed a definite exclusion for N K Iversen in the run to the line off the last bend. K.K is leading but NKI cant get past Leon Madsen Leon is only about 18 inches off the line on the inside of the bend and NKI passed him on the inside and as clear as you like you can see Neils has both wheels over the white line .The result if he had been excluded and Leon and Greg moved up a place would have been 44 45 instead of 47 42 .
