  1. To all fans home or away ref the speed camera it is as stated a number plate recognition but be aware there are 30mph signs entering the the area after you come off the roundabout and the local residents as well as the police are very active all the way up to Brandon Stadium looking for naughty drivers . Just a thought the increased traffic from 1 night per week per month (apart from Stock Car World Final in Sept ) will be a very small splash in the pond compared to the extra influx of possibly 200 cars per day from the new populated brand new housing estate which will be erected once the Stadium has gone .. If I lived close to Brandon in my mind the 1 night option is a no brainer might be worth the Binley Woods current population thinking about .
  2. 1960,s Jimmy Gooch Ron How Oxf Cheetahs my first intro to Speedway as 17 yr old Chris Morton Peter Collins during B/V good times Greg and Billy for and against the bees through out their uk times Tommy Knudsen David Bargh always good for maximum pts early in the meeting So many to choose from like everyone else but I think it has to be Greg and Billy for the simple reason they used to do it against us and then we had the chance at Brandon to watch them do it on a regular for us particularly in ht 15
  3. Trouble is Paul it could put off a lot of first time fans if the racing is first bend winner as is more often than not the case especially at Leicester,s poorly designed track . Personally I hope this isn,t the case but I don,t hold out much hope of a different scenario.
  4. Wrong they are two riders you want to see but there are an awful lot of fans who don,t want to have your idiotic comments posted on here so how about sitting quietly in front of your computer and only post when you have something entertaining to say .
  5. Careful Star Lady you may be accused of talking a lot of sense especially with your comments on No. 8s which is much more than the Promoters can be guilty of
  6. Who does Bartek ride for Laim cos he sure as hell aint signed for B,Ham that would be BARTOSZ
  7. what a c**p post you obviously no nothing about preparing a track. I live only 4 miles from the track and after it was off on Friday we have had regular rain some heavy /some light but all unfortunately WET, over most of the weekend. If there is a big chance of there being a rainoff its better to pull the plug early, so both home and away fans alike save what few pounds they have .But obviously in your world everything is perfect .
  8. I think a lot of fans from a lot of teams are very critical about the bad design of the track as the third bend is so narrow on the entry a lot of good riders seem pretty average on this bend unable to pass lesser riders .Most fans put Darcy Ward in the top half dozen riders in the world and it will be interesting to see what he produces on Monday as regards overtaking moves if he misses the gate .
  9. Two stories involving yours truly British Final late 90,s Sunday afternoon at Brandon Stadium. I had been employed as new Track Curator after Colin Meredith had gone to Oxford at the start of the year .Very sunny day and watering had been paramount all day since 5 am .Around about I think it was after Ht 12 I was asked by the ref to give it a fairly good soaking and proceeded to the tractor and water tank which in those days was allowed to be in the centre green .I started off across the green to the exit on the back straight drove down the raised paving onto the track then to my horror the weght of the water in the tank which was under 3/4 full lifted the back of the tractor up into the air breaking the tow pin on the back of tractor .We then provided the whole of the crowd to ten minutes of complete amusement and laughter with first myself trying to push the bowser back down onto a level position but to no avail then 1 other raker helping, still no good until eventually it took 4 of us hanging on the front of the bowser to change the water level and reconnect to the tractor to a very understanding round of applause . Second story First match in charge of Brandon at home to Oxford (my home town team) with new manager Colin Meredith in charge We had a very poor day with weather lot of rain but luckily as it was the first match of the season the track was well packed down .1 hour before the start we had a heavy downpour the ref and both sets of riders walked the track and were understandably worried but I asked the ref to give me a crack with the big blade to take off the top surface to the outside of both bends and on the inside of both straights I reckoned about 45mins to an hour which he agreed to .The meeting started 55 mins late the bees lost 26 52 with Laurence Hare riding at number 7 scoring 15 pt max . Not two of the best days of my life but you got to have bad to have good.
  10. Is it just me or did anyone else not get the Final transmitted by Eurosport as the riders were getting ready on the ramp my coverage ended NOT IMPRESSED
  11. Iv,e seen and heard Jack about 6 meetings now and there is a different approach and confidence in his commentating with certain riders .With Sam he is more on edge and prone to making c**k ups . Whereas with his other co commentator he is very relaxed and much more on the ball .The other commentator is very good his name Scott Nicholls .Don,t know why this is but if you have chance to see him with Scotty Jack is pretty good .
  12. Just what do you mean when you say mix and match each team has 3 ht leaders two 2nd strings and 2 reserves with a team total as per rules and regs. The decision was taken in the winter to include two draft riders from the published list to give BRITISH riders a chance to earn decent money and learn from more established riders in their team.I suppose just to keep you happy we should get rid of all the new guys and bring in greedy danes, poles, swedes and probably soon latvians and romanians .Sorry if your upset but I would rather pay my money to watch home grown new talent trying to make a career for themselves . Sorry its off topic for other users but I just felt I had to fight the young guys corner ...
  13. IMO no one let the Bees down tonight .There are as usual the moaners on Chris ,s back but I would like to see you get on a Speedway bike and score 12 pts after flying and travelling half way round the world and back again in less than a week.Jason Garrity was suffering with severe bruising after crashing at the weekend but this team place is what him ,and riders like him from the lower leagues have been striving for,I concede he probably should have not ridden but if he says he wants to ride you got to give him the chance .As other people are saying probably most fans would be very pleased with 5 pts from two matches when they were both away .If we are still riding poorly ,like some have said tonight ,after 3 or 4 matches at home and another couple away I will bow to their serious knowledge about the Bees until then (this comment includes quite a few bees fans as well) stop bloody moaning. So far in two matches ,both as I said away from home, we have only run 6 last places (exc Garrity and Richings injuries ) over 25 races and we are only into the first part of the season.
  14. Good to see both Leics reserves scoring big points for Cradley tonight wonder if Mr Allen will ask for team managing skills from Cradley manager after his recent post about his two reserves.
  15. Get well soon C/R and best wishes to your mum Steve hope she,s out of intensive care soon
  16. Don,t agree with your choice there are better riders than Koschieca who should have been given it .Either of the Pawlicki brothers for starters unless they and others have turned down the chance .Also if you are posting try and get the name of the track right . .
  17. Signed good luck hope we can all bring enough clout to make the change
  18. Don,t think you or anyone else realise just how bad the problem with the original hole was which originates from 2011 Oct.When I can work out how to get pictures up on attachment to your post, then I think the you and many others will genuinely see the problem which has been ongoing .I will post pics tomorrow when my wife (who is much cleverer than me computer wise ) sorts it out cant do now as she is evil if I wake her up after she,s gone up to bed for her beauty sleep . Fingers crossed she finds that bit funny . Just to say it won,t be packed down after the cars have finished .The photos have been on my phone since that night as it was one of my worst nights as a Track Curator in 10+ years .
  19. I thought Joe Jacobs deserved an extra ride tonight in Ht 10 in place of Ty Proctor . Proctor 3 rides up to this point 0 score Jacobs 3 rides up to this point 6 paid 7 .I,m a neutral fan as regards both teams but Ty Proctor didn,t look like scoring all night and I thought the idea of bringing two english lads in to all teams this year was to help them get better and earn some money .Any Wolves fans care to comment ?
  20. I have not picked out your post vindictively just as one of many who either will not or cannot understand the position Mick Horton is in as regards track prep.He is the promoter of the Bees as you all accept but he is not got any say in the employment of Stadium staff .The new trackman is employed by Coventry Stadium under the ownership of Avtar Sandhu .Mick only rents the track for bees meetings and he can obviously complain to the management over the state of the track but as I see it Marek( the trackman) needs educating on the different ways of the English weather but unfortunately he seems very anti any help or advice offered.IMO someone needs to try to alleviate this problem from the Stadium or ,Sorry to say for the fans including me , Coventry Bees will be gone forever very soon ...We never had this problem before as in the beginning the Bees were owned and promoted by the Ochiltree family then the same situation carried on when Sandhu bought the Stadium with track staff working for Owner/promoter being the same person. With the change of Bees promotion to M.H he now has no equipment involved with his tenure, all.machinery still being the property of the Stadium.Hope someone can sort it soon the track is one of the best in British speedway if its looked after lovingly
  21. Problem at the Showground tonight after ht 8 as the tapes went up for next ht 9 half the Floodlights failed and air bags were deflated due to power failure meeting called off
  22. It was Colin Meredith who built the Drier but don,t know why it didn,t take off it was nothing to do with the Russell Brothers
  23. Coventry used to do the same until the end of the 2013 season since then ?
  24. Ok I wasn,t there for practice but I wouldn,t think that one week after it could be so bad for the Friday night Storm meeting. As is the norm practice tracks are put in as slick as possible so there must be an underlying problem. .Like I said there hadn,t been enough work hours spent on the remedial work needed.but I doubt if either of us will be told why
