  1. Have a beer in city centre MCR, and get an uber to the track... Less than 5 mins from the Northern Qtr..
  2. Extra seating with a capacity of 6,500 or so and an average of £65 a ticket, and I would suggest that is viable... The costs of the SON were, in the main, due to the other events, and the costs for the whole week, rather than the final... Plenty paid over £90 to attend that, with that price set to try and subsidise the expected loss on the other meetings I would think... Cannot wait....
  3. Kurtz to replace him? Similar size and shaped track.... Or will Rybnik pay him "top rider money" to stay?
  4. Indeed.... The days when it truly "meant something"... And teams had riders who became synonymous with that team... Reg Wilson - Sheffield Ray Wilson - Leicester Terry Betts - Kings Lynn Eric Boocock - Halifax.. And many, many more.. One rider - One Team...
  5. The night a 4 year old mikebv had his first hero... Wilkie....😎 A "proper leader"..
  6. Bad crash, didn't look good... Track too over watered...
  7. Personally I think that an 8 team, six riders per team "Superleague" is a large opportunity... Ride once home and away.. Top four into the Play Offs. (Radical but 1st v 4th and 2nd v v 3rd). No development riders.. These teams then run a "Championship/NDL" hybrid team with all the rest... Similar to Oxford now, you would get pretty much, weekly Speedway at each track.. You could have the "Superleague" then done for August end...
  8. Should leave it at 40 and maybe have an average for the top 3 that you cannot go over. 25? Leaving 15 for the other three, plus the RS..? Maybe that would share the HL's around a bit more fairly? Which is probably the one major difference between those with success and those without..
  9. The double pass by Blodorn within five seconds of each not exciting? The NKI changing lines pass of Becker not exciting? Bewley roaring around the boards passing several riders not exciting? You must have extremely high expectations ....
  10. The wetter it is, the better chance for Leicester I would suggest... They outgated the Aces in at least half the races last night... And by some margin in some... And you hardly pass in perfect conditions on their track, so heat advantages could be on the cards for them...
  11. Kurtz will be the key in the return leg.. Definitely got to that level of being able to handle big pressure races.. 7 wins off him, Dan, Lidsey and NKI should be achievable and see the Aces home..
  12. Just watched it on YT... Some cracking racing... Bllodorn third to first... NKI's move on Becker.. Bewley and Kurtz going either side of riders for fun.. And Sam Hagon showing one or two of his more experienced team mates how to ride the NSS.. Not many tracks in perfect condition would bring up racing that good tonight...
  13. The weather dictates racing like tonight.. And from what I have read the Aces seemed to pass easily enough.. And, if you are a Leicester fan... You won't be used to close racing anyway... Gate. Go. Hit bend apex. Drift up bend. Lock up. Go down straight.. Rinse and Repeat...
  14. Riders and Spectators perspective.. He flew round it reading the updates.. A wet NSS delivers "different speedway" to normal racing there.. On TV it can look poor, when there, the speed the likes of Bewley and Kurtz manage to get, inches from the fence at full gas, 50 yards in front, is still pretty impressive..
  15. But Frank would have done it with 19 starts.... And four exclusions...
  16. Really? Not able to get a stream to watch it... If true, not acceptable at all... I see Kurtz and Bewley managed to "tootle round" OK...
  17. A line to sum up British Speedway... And why it isn't taken seriously... That said... Get the red smoke flares out for Thursday... The Manc invasion is on.....
  18. They are clearly better suited for Div 2... They have had success in the 2nd tier and very decent crowds for that level.. Is it just ego that keeps them in Div 1?
  19. Didn't Jacks mechanic quit that morning? So he ended up doing the bikes himself?
  20. I would say advantage to the away team given set ups won't be the usual ones.. When watching Leicester at the NSS they have often been in good positions out of bend two, lap one, but then get passed as the track slickens and the Aces knowledge kicks in.. With some grip down, they might not get passed so easily....
  21. And women for cleanin', ironin', looking after the kids, and getting my bloody tea on't table the second I gerrin frum an 'ard days graftin'..... Proper order....
  22. To be fair, she does travel overseas doing the Moto GP presentation... Malaysia or Gorton...? Hmmmmm. A tricky one...
  23. And the Witches... And the Tigers... And the Stars etc etc etc... With an honourable mention for Bomber.. Mr Speedway... Have bike, will travel, at a moments notice... He must permanently keep his bikes in great nick given how quickly he responds to the crisis calls he gets.. He must have a dozen winners and losers medals surely given how much he helps out...
  24. More GP riders and non GP riders of high quality now... And we have rising stars so "strength in depth" requires a five point man at least as reserve, unless you unearth a Dan Bewley as the RS... Two big hitters and work downwards is now the way the best teams work, as it also gives them top guests too...
