  1. Hope Bomber has a good night.. If he does, it should make for good viewing..
  2. Indeed he would... A different level to many riding today.. Was it sixth in the world he got to? Most tracks didn't suit him given his lack of starting capability... Didn't pull out of meetings though, instead just used his talent to compete...
  3. Say hello to Phil... He could be in for a busy one...
  4. Looking at the TV meeting v Sheffield, and the Tigers last meeting.. Woffy alone put around 1000 combined at both meetings I reckon.. The 3 of them would get 1000 there I would think...
  5. Now Now... Play nice.... Its people like you who hold the sport back.. Several thousand who have never heard of Speedway would have come on here today, (all by random chance), and probably would have become regulars if they hadn't read the negative comments on here.. Or something like that...
  6. All top level talent when the UK had plenty of it.. But, even then getting 3 in the top 8 like we did last year, and all in the top nine so far this, was not a regular event.. (Granted, the qualification process didn't favour such an embarrassment of riches).. And even less a regular event from the early 80s onwards... And back then the British Final sold itself with the riders on show.. Having 3 such world class riders in such a shallow pond of talent that we have nowadays, should mean they are being included in meetings like this.. If those 3 were in the BF, then another £25k minimum would be taken in attendance money I would say... No idea what having them there would cost collectively, but it would surely be an investment not a waste..?
  7. A fair portion of the main stand tickets are gone so a decent (ish) crowd should be there.. Weather brightening up too...
  8. What about a "Guest Queen" getting booked? Queen Silvia of Sweden is available.... Done 47 years too, so her average is lower, meaning she fits...
  9. Hardly worth coming back if they are racing in Poland again this week... Maybe took a little mini break with their respective partners in one of Europe's more romantic cities? The done thing these days I believe...
  10. In this weeks SS there was a two page interview with him around how he thought he could win..
  11. Cannot be long now... "Hi Mike, its Mark, you still got that Wessie in your garage?".. " If so, Simon Lambert can lend you his old KL Kevs"... "You will need to let them out a bit"....
  12. I think that when your National Championship, (one of the few Comps with credibility in the UK), becomes very much like all the rest, in the way the promoters have to scrabble around to find riders just so as they can put a meeting on.... Then it isn't too far away from being the end of the road for the sport in this country in its current guise.. As. If you cannot even make your "flagship meeting" worth attending, then it really is time to worry.. And that is for both riders and fans... There will be some "newbies", or infrequent followers of the sport, there this evening, I am sure, who are attending without knowing who the riders even are, let alone the ones missing. And I am also sure that they will be provided with some excellent racing.. Unfortunately there wont be enough there to replace those who do follow the sport, and can see what it sadly has evolved into, and have decided to not bother.. In Poland it is ran as a bona fide sport.. In the UK it is more Sports Entertainment.. And its just a shame many won't face up to that, as there is still a huge opportunity to market yourself off the back of it...
  13. I am waiting by the phone... Do they make XXL Kevlars?
  14. Hammering down in Stockport... About 5 miles away from the track... All morning its been raining...
  15. That sounds utterly and completely ridiculous, and would destroy the sports' much respected, and hard earned, credibility status.. To allow such "contrived, made up nonsense" to happen would suggest that some haven't got a clue as to how to run and organise things... So.... When did you say it was starting.?
  16. Must have missed that one... Sounds a great idea... Who won it?
  17. It sometimes appears that "they" wait for someone to come on here and, after reviewing the numbers and the regs, put them on the right track, before they publicly put out any news... "Can he guest?"... "Not sure. What does the BSF say?"...
  18. You only have to see the positive impact Woffy has had on the two attendance's since riding over here, to see what a great opportunity it would be to have him and Robert Lambert in this meeting.. And, whilst you have two of the top three (by far), British riders not competing, it 1 million percent reduces the kudos of victory for who gets crowned tonight.. I am not going as the field doesn't excite me, and it is on TV so already paid for it.. However. If I could have envisaged a final with Dan, Tai and Robert in, plus head to head races through the 20 qualifying heats, then I, and I suspect many, many others, would have been there, no question... You allow Australians to riide, (insert your own Woffy joke here), and invite Div 2 second strings/reserves along to "make up the numbers' (no disrespect intended to any of them obviously)... Yet you dont go out of your way to attract a third of the worlds top nine GP riiders.....? What an opportunity to deliver a British Final worthy of the name, I suspect there wont be too many more years when this nation has 3 of the worlds best riders eligible to ride for its National title.... And, going back to " all our yesterdays", even in the "halcyon days" we didn't have 3 British riders at such a level too many times...
  19. Indeed... Someone attending ANY speedway meeting is helping to keep that track going.. And, by definition, the sport itself... I used to attend Sheffield and Stoke on a Thursday and Saturday, and often miss the Aces meeting on the Friday as the racing wasn't as good as the racing getting served up at the other two tracks in the 2nd Div.. If your local track isnt serving up enough entertainment, then support the sport by still attending somewhere else who is...
  20. Be interesting to see what he is moaning about.. No one will have had more chance to earn money in the UK than Bomber over the past good many years... Due to the amount of "Guestfests" that take place and him being on speed dial in every Promoter's phone when one is needed...
  21. To have any fighting chance it must ensure its competitions become relevant... And to do that means giving them credibility, integrity, and some kudos for winning.. Currently none of the above 3 key elements apply, meaning nothing else anyone does will sort it's current struggles..
