Belle Vue V Rye House 30 Aug 2017
mikebv replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Could Peterborough let Bomber ride for Rye...? Seems they don't appear to mind letting their riders ride elsewhere instead of for them....!😉😲 -
Rye House Vs Poole 28/8/17 7.30pm.
mikebv replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
😂 And Promoters will actually want the fans to take this seriously and turn up... A potential season defining meeting....😲 British Speedway at its best....😆 -
And why not.? When you are allowed to do so by the 'authorities' then do what you feel is right for you... No No1? No problem, have a guest.... Who knows, it might even improve your team...😩

Think Woffy has more faith in his machinery now which may have led him to have so many 'ragged' races early in the Competition... Second place seems to be 'ok' for him now and with Woffy's level of capabilty, in most races he can deliver that as a minimum..... The only one in contention going down the stretch who knows what it takes to get over the line... Could be the first British three time winner!!

14 wins in a row!! Well done Swindon. .. But let's be honest... Who really gives a toss?... What should be greeted as a tremendous achievement will never be seen as such because frankly who cares which select teams beat other select teams? It's all sadly utter nonsense.... Still, no doubt we will now move on to even more of the same nonsense on an almost nightly basis as we reach the end of the season...

Kings Lynn Vs Wolves ( Double Header) 23.08,17
mikebv replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You really might as well give up trying to run League Speedway in Britain... Far, far, too far gone to save... It just stumbles aimlessly from one embarrassing episode to another.... "I want to bring integrity and transparency to the Sport".... Well that worked didn't it...?😲 -

Wonder if Dave Gordon and Chris Morton are going to be blamed for this fiasco? Maybe they should put out an incredibly hasty press release stating that tonight's meeting is nothing to do with them...😁😁 -

Is there a Speedway rider in the audience? if so please make yourself known to the nearest steward and they will accompany you to the pits....😀😀😀 -

I seem to remember during the close season "someone" saying something around Speedway needing to have more integrity and transparency if it was to regain the faith of the fans and that was a major part of his mission...... Now, who was it who said that again?...😀😂😆 -
Fixed Race Nights For 2018 Season
mikebv replied to Perton Wolf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
More 'top riders'? More admission costs I presume to pay for them? How much to get in if so? £20? BV and Swindon showed in the past couple of weeks with their TV matches that a tenner and free entry to 'kids' will get you a very good crowd regardless of level of rider on show.. Not sure having more 'top riders' will deliver much better crowds than we currently have.. One thing a fixed night(s) will do though is cut the number of guests (cannot be in two places at once) so that has to be a positive.. -
Spot on.. I saw Joe Screen make his debut for the Aces in 88... He was 16 years of age. .. That season Joe went on to quite regularly beating some of the very best riders in the World in what was (at the time) THE toughest league in the World.... Joe went on to finish 6th in the World Championship one year and won a World U21 Title... No disrespect to any of the current crop of 'young' lads but (maybe Lambert and Bewley apart) none of them could do in a much weaker League what Joe did all those years ago... Jason Doyle is the only rider I can think of recently who after a few years of riding 'suddenly came good'... Speedway is a Sport which appears to have no age barriers as to how good you can be but is simply down to the aptitude of being able to ride a Speedway bike faster than your opponents... That natural aptitude will show itself at any age but so will the natural level for each individual rider.. Regardless of what age you start racing professionally, if after three years of riding you are still not in the top league at I would say second string level or a second tier heat leader (at least), you are, in the main, not going to be anywhere near a World Level Speedway rider.. Good to see British riders given a chance but we need to be fair to them re our expectations of their careers...

Fixture Cut Off Date...has It Been Extended?
mikebv replied to Speedwaycrazy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It does seem strange that teams go so many weeks without a fixture yet as soon as TV give them the fixtures they want to show on Monday nights it appears never a problem in putting the meeting on... With only Wolves (and their opponents) riding on a Monday, surely teams should be using this night to complete re-arranged matches..? Rider availability also seems good on a Monday and given each team appears on TV on this night I presume planning permission to race on a Monday is sought and granted by clubs? Better than cramming in meetings... -
Grand Prix Challenge 2017
mikebv replied to STEPHEN 333's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The dichotomy of British Speedway... Absolutely made up for Cook tonight... Yet at the same time, couldn't give a toss about my team gaining four points towards winning a Mickey Mouse League, gaining those points in a select team guest fest at Leicester... Strange Sport Speedway in Britain... Credible success means something I guess... -
I think this is covered by the... "Look to be honest we haven't got a clue anymore what the rules are, just say it's OK if anyone asks because its in the interest of Speedway (or something like that)". 'Rule'.... It probably will have a number like '101.3: sub section (d)' to give it a bit of gravitas..
-
Come on the Aces/Pirates/Rockets.. Hope Paul and Scott can score enough points to consolidate the Aces' position in the top four and at the same time reduce their own teams' chances of catching the Aces in the League.. Cannot wait...
-
Constanly missing riders through DU and the resultant non stop stream of Guestfests after Guestfests can never hope to engage a fan base to follow 'their team'.. And any team sport that doesn't deliver that so important 'emotional attachment' will never give itself a chance to be a successful enterprise.. "Guests have been around for years" is the often used mantra, however domestic Speedway wasn't nationally beamed into homes regularly then and fans got their Speedway fix on TV by watching major individual or FIM events. In short, you turned up at a track and only then you found that Guest riders replaced some of your favourites, In todays instant media world you simply cannot get away with such nonsense and expect fans to follow you...
-
Pretty sure Peter Adams once said he uses the B/W as soon as his team qualifies to use it.. His theory being is if he doesn't then literally one race later he might not be able to use it again... Even a 4-4 is a 'plus' to a teams' score... 'Quite' successful Peter Adams..😨

Contrived bollox meetings are delivered week in week out by the Promoters as a collective so all reap crowd level wise what their actions deserve... With the Aces being as 'guilty' over the years as all other promotions... How many times did we go to Lakeside with less than half a team of Aces? Amazing coincidence how so many teams manage to never have their 'top riders' missing for home matches but agree to fixtures away from home when they know their main 'drawcard' won't be there... As for "penalising Belle Vue"? All promotions pee in the same pot and contrive meeting after meeting as an in house organisation so regularly effectively 'penalise' each other... Run the Sport properly collectively and more would go to watch it... Keep doing what they are doing and (as the last ten years will testify) less will attend.. Simple really....
-
Away teams have guests too... Last year one of Danny King, Rohan Tungate and Paddy Hougaard seemed to be there every week, either riding for us or the opposition... As we head to the play off deadline and re arranged fixtures get crammed in (in both leagues) just to complete the season, U21 and GP Challenge events reach a climax, as will Poland and Sweden, I can guarantee guest levels will increase just like they do year after year as the season come to a close... Even more so this year with teams not being able to sign riders to replace injured competitors.. NB. 8 out of 11 fixtures at BV already this season have had Guests... (12 riders in total)...
-
And the ultimate irony is the more they try and work around all the other 'agendas' globally that effect them by running such a disjointed fixture list , invariably on nights with teams full of Guests, all it does it take away any credibilty in the actual event itself and ultimately removes any satisfaction fans get from actually winning a National title...! Why would anyone want to keep attending something so consistently contrived and cobbled together on such an ad hoc basis and provides very little kudos even if 'your team' wins...? The BSPA should at least give themselves a chance to succeed by taking control of their own destiny... I am sure many fans (and ex fans) out there would support their stance and may even start to attend more as the credibilty of the Leagues grow.. Maybe I am in a minority but I simply won't attend "Guest Fests" meaning my team loses out on probably £500 a season from me and my lad as over half the matches (at least) will be ran with 'select teams'... Ironically I will attend further afield though if the event is 'credible' such is the pull the Sport has if done 'properly'... Wonder how many more out there are like me? As I say, the BSPA should at the very least give themselves a chance by taking charge of 'their' part of the Sport. Especially as they havent got much to lose now I would suggest..
