  1. Went to that... Half expected the riders to get off at the end of the straights and push their bikes round... The current track still has plenty of space on its "footprint" to become more wider and more circular... Just needs a few quid spent.... Form an orderly queue...
  2. The more sideways riders go, the better and closer the racing.. And the less horsepower counts, and the more talent influences races.. Everyone who watches knows that, and you as riders too obviously.. Which still baffles me why somewhere like Leicester built an "oval"..! I loved watching handicap racing on 120m tracks in the USA, 8 rider races... No race was a foregone conclusion 3 and a half laps out.. Tiny tracks, wide bends, talent counts...
  3. Keep the start line where it is. Have the finish line further down the straight.. Like Wimbledon used to do.. And Edinburgh still do (?)..
  4. Some good racing so far .. It can be great this track... Maybe putting a finish line in a further 25 yards down the straight would help the racing too given the last bend often sees riders in contention to pass..
  5. Maybe some fall out from this will also be to run the meeting earlier in the season? Well before the GP itself... The first reason being the obvious one that it could still be concluded if it got rained off, without recourse to "in the event of" regulations.. And the other being the winner gets a decent amount of time to prepare for the GP itself.. It is a huge opportunity for riders, and this year, whoever won it, it wouldn't leave them much time for bike prep when they need top kit, gaining extra sponsors wanting to be seen around the globe, and planning how to actually look after sponsors on the night... Lots to do logistically so the more prep time the better..
  6. Wow... Could have been a true "Sliding Doors' moment that one Dean... Whoi knows... If you had said "yes" maybe it could be you now over watering, and over grading GP tracks each fortnight or so, just when they start to produce good racing.....
  7. Maybe "birth right" would have been a better phrase to use? Good luck to Adam in Cardiff...
  8. To be fair, domestic Speedway in the UK is now beyond parody... It is make it up as you go along, and probably won't ever change given it is the 'easiest way' to run it... But individual tracks are getting decent enough crowds, so enough fans seem happy enough just watching 'any Speedway, without having too much investment in the result... If you watch the Polish Speedway and attend a UK meeting each week you get the best of both worlds... In Poland? A proper, bona fide, sporting contest, with a host of world class talent riding in front of thousands of passionate tribal fans, with big financial rewards for success and relegation for failure, financed by major sponsors and massive media coverage... And over here? You get to see, (whilst none of the above,) "live action", which can still deliver a "very good night out"...
  9. Maybe it is free from the constraint of Europsorts coverage now it has already been ran? Or maybe Eurosport cannot fit it in? Streamed maybe? Either way, it is an opportunity to experiment with the night it gets ran so a Saturday ticks a lot of boxes I would think.. The season started with a big crowd at the NSS for the PCMM so ending with another one would send it off well into the close season...
  10. Not quite correct... The whole point of it is you do make it up... (In the UK that is obviously)...
  11. You cannot take it seriously granted, but it keeps the sport going... And it is all fans will get so they might as well join in and go, as if they dont then even "made up Speedway", like we get weekly, might not exist in the UK... It will never grow using this operating model obviously, but I dont think promoters are too bothered as they seem to not focus on growth in any way shape or form, and seem more than happy just running an individual Speedway track, and providing racing to the fans that are quite happy to pay for what they provide..
  12. It was the copper out of "Allo Allo"... "Ze Spoodway iz nit ranning ini mooooor"
  13. And they want to make a full time living after forking out tens and ten of thousands of pounds or euros on kit that promoters want and need them to have... And they want and need them to have the best kit to try and win competitions that the very same promoters then completely devalue by using an unfit for purpose operating model that they personally design... Forking out fortunes to earn even bgger money to live on, and all to win competitions that carry very little financial reward or media and sponsorship interest.. Could be a University Masters Degree Course somewhere unravelling all of the multiple layers of that as "a plan"...
  14. Track conditions would be called into question re fairness.. Although, once again, they shouldn't have to discuss such things as the rules should clearly be defined... Ridiculous that the commentary team cannot inform the viewers what the rules are of the pinnacle of the sport in the UK, as no one seemed to know...
  15. Regulation 101.00 "A British Final can be declared as "Completed" after 12 heats and a winner named"... Regulation 101.01 The winner will be declared by using the following criteria:- The rider with the most points will be declared the winner.. In the event of two or more riders having the same number of points? Can anyone think of anything? Anyone?
  16. Exactly what us avid followers of the sport will think....
  17. I think maybe having some written down "in the event of" rules may help the situation somewhat... You know. Like sports do.... I half expected Dan, Bomber and Tom to come out under brollies to the tapes and play "Rock, Paper, Scissors."..
  18. As the meeting was abandoned I am not sure it would have made a difference... I think the BSP will use the fact the track got called unsafe rather than "the meeting finished in heat 12", hence all that went before was decided to be "null and void"... Either way, a typically ill thought out scenario where a meeting can be called as complete but no written down way of deciding the very obvious possibility of riders having equal points and not having met... "Hello. Is that the FIM? Have you got a minute?"...
  19. We can declare the result if the meeting goes 12 heats.. So all we need to do now is decide a way of how we reach that result...
  20. You would think that if they have a rule that "12 heats constitutes a meeting", then maybe they would also have a scenario of what to do if riders tie? As they most likely will have that situation... Congratulations to Adam, explains why he got his hand shook 5 mins ago, and he is still there.. . Best of luck to him at Cardiff.. Maybe the BSP should think about having some kind of way of deciding these meetings when they decide "12 is ok"...
  21. Do what they used to do in the old Golden Helmet when it was "one each"...? Have a decider? Top four all back at the next Aces meeting? Four races so each get each gate? Scott gets fourth as he beat King?
