Ipswich v Belle Vue 13th April
mikebv replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Easy win for the Witches... 52-38 -
But every team brings ringers in all season to make it to the play offs (eg Bomber last night instead of Scott,).. I mean Becker not Scott (cough cough)... So why should the play offs be any different... Just use the tried and trusted ringer operating model all through the season.
-
You put your Becker in... You take your Becker out... In, Out, In Out, then shake it all about... Etc etc etc ..
-
The more that gets announced early though, the more the scrutiny on here of it's legitimacy...... Best to just announce nothing and keep your head down... The beauty being of course that even if things may not appear to some to be 100% correct, your opponents will invariably need to do something similar later in the season so will hardly kick up any fuss... A 'win/win'. ..

Belle Vue v Wolves KOC 1st Leg 10/4 12.00

Dan's starting technique is pretty awful to be honest... Proper MX style.. Craig Cook has a similar way of gating which has obviously worked for him domestically... Dan says he has put some "muscle weight" on, so maybe he isn't getting out of the starts with that upright, 'lift feet up and go' style that he has, the same as he did when a bit lighter.. It doesn't need too many extra pounds for inertia to play it's part at the starting gate given how important every first few yards are to the overall result.. Sometimes, it looks like he goes upwards rather than forwards as the back wheel seems to bounce in the air... The Polish faithful won't be as forgiving as the UK fans given so much more rides on his performances over there, so hopefully Dan can sort his early season issues out.. Always great to watch from the back so hopefully he soon starts to get to the second bend 'just behind' rather than a fair distance off, thus giving himself a chance of 3 points, and us fans a chance to watch a true generational talent on a bike.. -

Phil could give a ruling on it.... -

They only need to be 4th from bottom come play off time... Then they can bring Lambo/#aceslegend back to retain their title so deservedly, and fairly, won last year... -

Maybe that is why the season is planned to be done by the end of September.. As it leaves 31 days in October to fit this prestigious event in... -
Wouldnt the Aces just keep Rowe? And let Mulford ride in the Colts and as a No8? Surely Rowe is a better rider currently?

Predictions for Prem 2023 as teams stand ...

When the Aces get dialled in at home they will no doubt kick out plenty of their 15 point plus victories. Similar to Wolves, getting the bonus point should mostly be within their grasp most weeks... When the track gets drier during the warmer weather, and consistent every week during the "peak season" for racing volume, the Aces seem to kick on and deliver larger victory margins... They certainly wont be unhappy with no play offs in October this year I would think as when the track is colder and more damp the scores are often closer.. For me, they do appear one heat leader light and, given the 'number sixes' this year at most tracks, dont look like having any advantage by always having one of their "four second strings" in their tesm at reserve... -
Hit the M6 Aces fans....
-
Especially as they can improve their team on an adhoc week by week basis..
-
Even "poor" Wolves teams over the years have had strong home performances.. Whiisper "You can pass up the inside on bend two I believe"... (Dont let anyone else know)...
-
Not as many as last year now Rory is back....

Please let us have to use Bomber as a guest.... -
Or maybe shared Bomber?
-
I am sure the Aces will need Bomber at some stage of the season so probably best to just let things lie...
-
The CEO will no doubt be brushing up on those six most important words for the sport in this country... "In the interest of British Speedway"... Presume with it being a cup tie that Bomber is now cup tied and cannot ride for Leicester in it?

You Hooooooo!!! Phil! Phil! Can we have a word please....

Panthers v Leicester - Bank Holiday Monday
mikebv replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Season ticket holders could get a refund for the matches they miss.. Sponsors are fans so I am sure will accept the odd missed meeting, and on the plus side, would now sponsor a team in a a sport with credibility that doesnt allow for any "strange" call offs like we seem to get from time to time, meaning also that their brand wouldn't be impacted by being associated to something that can be regarded as "a bit Mickey Mouse" when it comes to governance, integrity and credibility.. And maybe riders would be more inclined to ride on those 50/50 nights which currently see meetings getting called off more often than not, thus the fans feel a bit more confident on attending when all isnt "perfect"... Only being given a point for a draw would certainly focus the attention of the promoters to try anything and everything to get the meeting on I would think.. -
And in the past Nicki has published his Polish contract showing that any injuries sustained riding elsewhere in other leagues will result in a loss of earnings, (presume the guarantee), and the return of a large % of any up front payments... Riders on the size of contracts that are available to them in Poland would be mad to risk a possibility of losing them..

I think that there is no doubt that if all matches that are called off delivered a point a piece draw, with no restaging, that there would be a hell of lot less call offs... -

Good to see a squad system in place.. 14 (well 13 in this case), riders to choose from... No Guestfests when you have this system in place, meaning the sport has real credibility.. Obviously when they ride against each other it might unravel a bit, but that is only four times a season, so a large brush and carpet can be found at those times as an answer to anything that looks a bit daft... Well done Buster, a true visionary.. Let's hope Phil Morris is taking note of this fantastic idea.. -
It is because the only professionals in the sport (in the UK) are the riders... The rest are well intentioned amateurs doing their best to appear professional, but often without the necessary skill set required to carry off the tasks they have been asked to do/volunteered to do.. The professional marketing of the sport as a collective, rather than going it alone at each club in a small way, and the governance of the sport through the use of a credible operating model, is, sadly, a huge opportunity never taken up by those "well meaning amatuers". Hence, being insular, working in secret, and deep mistrust is often the reputation earned in the opinion of many of it's current, fanbase, and (probably more importantly), its ex fanbase, who still follow the sport closely...

Might be worth a gamble... Not many other teams have taken him on.... I will eat my hat if he doesnt deliver an 8 point average... Used to be great around Coventry I believe...
