  1. Woffy does ride strangely at times.. They water the track so he rides wide and gets filled in as everyone piles under him... Its clear the inside was the line in Semi 2 so he rides mid track until realising that he should ride the inside... Very confusing for such a great rider to get passed in the "obvious ways".. He seems to not be able to hook the bike up around the kerb.. Maybe his ribs are still giving him some discomfort...?
  2. I seem to remember this being the reason rolling averages were brought in, in the first place wasnt it? With the wholel premise being the longer the number of races and meetings, the less impact a few dodgy ones had...
  3. Makes total sense.. Phones can break or have no battery charge or get nicked or lost... "My ticket was on my phone. Honest!" Might not get you in..
  4. And were 2nd Div standard riders not 3rd tier... The Championship seriously needs to be the stepping stone between Div 1 and 3 with the team strengths spread out accordingly and evenly... How they do that after many years of running teams made up of the Div 1 HL's I dont know... Can't charge circa £20 for a lower standard of product can they? And I would imagine they will be loathe to drop the admission price..
  5. Very true... With the ultimate irony being that those within the "Speedway Bubble" don't see the untold damage they do by the way they run it... Not many successful businesses will have part of their business plan.. "Proactively alienate a fair proportion of our customer base through our operating model" I would imagine.. A great product but in the wrong hands maybe?
  6. It's UK Speedway.... It doesnt really matter... Just go along and hopefully enjoy a good evenings entertainment... There is pretty much no kudos in victory, no major financial reward, and hardly any media coverage other than the odd mention in a few papers for the play off winners allied to good coverage in the Speedway Star, so it really doesn't matter who wins any league.. What does matter is that teams win at home most weeks and stay solvent, which ensure riders who spend tens of thousands on kit are able to ride on many nights of the year to justify their expense.. The sport has been ran in a "bit Mickey Mouse" way for decades so it wont ever change.. It still has the capability to deliver a cracking night out, and the racing today is as least as good as I can ever remember, so just go along and enjoy what is on offer.. You might be even be lucky enough to be there for Bomber's 100th appearance of the season...
  7. He will have his own personal fixed race night rules soon... The fixture list will have to built around him....
  8. Now this surely is one of those instances where the meeting shouldn't be ran or made into a "challenge".. Does the sport no favours constantly having such "made up" teams.. If you win, it's not really your team, and if you lose, it's not really your team.. Meaning you wont be too happy nor will you be too disappointed, depending on the result.. . Team Sports shouldn't ever as a result of their operating model remove that emotional attachment the fans need.. Not to mention the possible impact to attendance with the No1 crowd puller missing in Bomber.. There must be other Saturday nights when this could have been ran surely? Getting the fans to believe in the "product" is a key issue for UK Speedway to overcome... Constantly churning out such situations doesnt help it achieve that sadly... A shame, as what can be such a great spectacle deserves a much better infrastructure built around it...
  9. Interesting thought process... I drive a Citroen 2CV...
  10. Maybe because he is a Promoter in that league possibly? .. Commenting on other teams' riders might get some negative responses from some? Definitely the most informative and natural of all the co commentators, and should be used often...
  11. Justin Elkins Engine Failure.... That's a treble barrelled one!!! Edit. In the early 90's we had.. Charlie Ermolenko Fell....
  12. You say that.. But it would still be good to see the Plymouth Bears/Diamonds/Tigers/Pirates/Brummies/Scorpions/Lions/Monarchs/Cheetahs/Bandits Gladiators in the play offs...
  13. 4 of their own and 3 ringers each match... What's not to like?
  14. As has been said on many occasions .. You would think that the promotions would see it as a huge advert for themselves and the sport as a whole... Even working as a collective to showcase what an "evening at the speedway" could be.. Advertising EVERY track off the back of it... Last night it looked like "one man and his dog" was in attendance on the vast back straight and the third and fourth bends.. With the main stand (at the very most), 50% full (or empty depending on your outlook)... Not going to persuade the "non converted" to become "converts" to the sport when it looks so poorly attended... Two hours of coverage with not a person watching having a FOMO moment I would say...
  15. I think Bickley has too much expectation on his shoulders from some... He rides a few certain tracks well, but overall doesn't score well at most places... I can see him becoming the modern day Simon Lambert as he goes through his speedway career... Reserve/Second String in the 2nd tier, with the odd occasional 'Man of the Match' performance where it all clicks for four or five rides on the same night... He isn't the same level as a great many U21 riders around Europe, and by now, if he was going to ever be at the level of Bewley, Drabyk, Kubera etc then he would be a lot closer to them now... Lowering what is expected of him might help him...
  16. For me, it isnt about ripping up the outside.. It's more dont have the kerb line that deep... When the Aces were behind they passed the Panthers riders pretty easily early on, mainly underneath down the back straight coming off turn two.. And. As the meeting went on the outside never really became a "go to" line as the inside stayed so good... Turns 3 and 4 had no drive away from the inside line whatsoever and anyone trying an outside pass made no ground, or actually lost position.. It becomes like "riding on rails" when you have a deep inside line on a big circular track, meaning very little point in moving off the same line when following the rider in front around..
  17. It would be simpler to just buy those same handlebars that Bartosz Zmarzlik uses... Then all riders would be as fast as him.. No idea why they all dont do it....
  18. The NSS is the same when I watch the Colts... A great racetrack as shown when the Aces ride but the NDL racing is often brilliant... As you say, just a couple of seconds slower, but not that you notice when watching... The NDL meetings (understandably), seem to have a slicker track too from the off which on the big wide circuits means riders using lots of different lines to try and find the grip to pass.. There doesnt seem the same "riding on rails" around the inside that can happen on the deeper tracks when the top riders ride, which often means strung out (very fast) races.. And obviously there is the capability level which means a few more mistakes, thus passing opportunities.. When Belle Vue charged a tenner in total for me and my then 16 year old lad, we went many times to the Colts and didnt go to watch the Aces as it was around £30.. Basically you got your "speedway entertainment fix" for around a third of the cost.. Real Value For Money the NDL..
  19. Matej telling the promoters how to prepare a track for racing...
  20. Definitely a track that needs a slicker inside line more earlier in the piece...
  21. Did Hans start off 15m in that last one? If he did, he still got to the start line first...
  22. Kurtz definitely benefitting from having two other decent heat leaders alongside him... Winning those key races this year....
  23. 17 years old and mixing it.... 2nd tier in Poland too and doing pretty decent...
