Still enjoying the team from this season, so will wait until the cold winter month come in (starting to feel like that very soon) before whip out the old calculator.

While this meeting is great for Scottish speedway its also bad for it with all this petty bickering. Why does speedway constantly shoot its self in the foot. Ok the meeting dragged on a bit, cant really blame Glasgow for the crashes/injuries or even the false starts. Yes I think their presentation/timings could be better but over time im sure it will improve. What I can blame Glasgow on is the timing of 'that letter'. Fair enough Glasgow promoters are annoyed at Edinburgh promotion but talk about bad timing now people are talking about race nights rather than the biggest meetings of each clubs history. IMO Edin shouldn't have a veto on deciding if they can race Fri night it should be discussed at AGM and all teams have a vote (ideally an independent body but will avoid that discussion for now). Now in light of all this all these vile supporters (mainly those allowed on social media) appear and say they hope each others clubs fold. Thats not a speedway fan in my eyes. I should take my dads approach to speedway. He doesn't do Facebook or the BSF or any social media. He turns up watches the speedway without any hostility or politics and seems to enjoy himself. Rant over Mon the Monarchs

Final that all Scottish fans have wanted is here. Looking forward to a cracking couple meetings on Fri and Sat. Both teams stronger/weaker in different areas so shud be a tight meeting. In Glasgows hands to see if they can get an advantage going into sats meet which they will need. Good Luck both teams

Amen to that. My first speedway memories are of driving with my Dad and Grandad to Edin fri, Ber Sat, Glas Sun and New monday. Used to love those weekends.

Silly me thought Glasgow were still racing THIS season, Lets not get to ahead of ourselves.

Edinburgh Vs Somerset Ko Cup Final, 2nd Leg, 2/10/2015
Cj69 replied to cyclone's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Home after a speedy exit from the stadium Obviously disappointed. Some will say it was Edin to lose and they threw it away but Rebels deserved winners. Always plugging away and fans must have feared worse when lost 2 opening 5-1s. But kept getting the points on board and then sealed the deal in ht 14. Excuse will come out, We would have won it with Wolbert, Riss not good enough etc.... but how about Somerset beat us fair and square and a well done to them. Hope this drives us on to firstly get round Pboro then onto the PlayOff Final. -
Made my through west and not disappointed. Wasn't much passing (although certainly more than Fri). A meeting of two halves with Edin so dominant up to heat 8 when cup was won but Tigers showing a fighting spirit and giving the crowd something to cheer about. A really great crowd and great atmosphere really made it a cup feel. Same with every time iv been through this season Ashfield really impresses me and enjoy my visits. Have some constructive criticism that I hope will be improved for next season (that iv no doubt the owners plans for 2016 are well under way). Meetings still take ages to run, its always been a glasgow problem and yes today was a final but it really seemed to drag on just that extra wee bit with a few lengthy delays (not that it spoiled it too much). The program just seems to lack a modern feel and look about it. And being very picky here, viewing on the back straight wasnt the best but I blame that on the big crowd and me being a short arse. All that aside loved the meeting, loved Edin winning and loved a glasgow fightback to earn themselves a draw which was a far result imo (btw take a bow Summers superb meet from him). See you in the Play-Off Final hopefully

Edinburgh V Glasgow Lc Final 1st Leg 25/9/15 @7.30pm

Firstly well done all the fans that made the trip through, both Monarchs and Weegies. A top crowd with some good banter till Monarchs started pulling away. Was nothing fancy from them just gated and looked hungrier for it. Very disappointed in a few Tigers with Summers only one to show much effort (Morris looks shadow of rider iv seen before). Track wasn't the best with it never looking like a pass was going to happen and looked less likely when the drizzle started. Special note to Coty Garcia, rode his heart out and got a few points when he was expected to just make up the numbers. Also to the presentation that did add extra wee something to the evening. Tie almost over but job still to be done on Sunday where I look forward to watching speedway at a really cracking stadium. -

Certainly dont think loosing Clegg has put the tie in Glasgows hands but no doubt he is a loss. We have a great top 4 and Glasgow have a solid bottom end ( ). Shud be a really tight couple meetings and even as a Monarchs im sitting firmly astride this fence. -

The ridiculous price hike from both teams apart this should be a great weekend of speedway in Scotland. Both teams capable of winning either leg. Can see this going right to the final heats on Sunday. -
Whose to blame for this then?? Dont blame Glasgow one bit for wanting to field a full team just like id like to see my team Edin and Ply/Somer/Sheff/Pboro all field full strength teams for the pinnacle of the PL season. Instead we have teams/fans bickering over fixtures when it should have been made clear at the start of the season when playoff matchs will take place. If a team signs a rider who may miss one of those days then tough, cant say they weren't given notice. In the end it seems the winner will be who picks the best guest or gets lucky with the weather. Scrap playoffs perhaps? We cant even finish the PT or KOC by september so maybe there is no need for the extra fixtures playoff bring. What I will add is why are pboro are forced to ride but other teams can make their own arrangements. Apologies its not directly about Glas v Ply match but thread seems to have gone past that. A wee Scottish Derby would be my hope for final, mon the Tigs

Edinburgh Vs Newcastle Plkoc, Semi, 1st Leg, 4/9/2015
Cj69 replied to cyclone's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is where BSPA shud step in. Have a look at both teams fixtures and set the date (ideally have it planned in advance). IMO should be decided at start of season, PT final completed by Aug, KO Sep and PlayOff Oct. These finals shud over rule other fixtures until they are finished. If it screws over Edin then so be it. -

Was horrible hearing this news this morning. Caught completely by surprise. Seems strange won't see his smiley face everytime walk into the dale always had time for a little chat and seemed really keen in investing in the future of Scotland speedway. I hope it can push on in his memory. RIP uncle B -
Edinburgh Monarchs Vs Workington/panthers, Pl 7/8/15
Cj69 replied to Panthers89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Despite the result wasnt too disappointed. Score was kept close throughout and some decent racing (more close racing than passing) with a great battle between Wells and Sedgy. Some inspired guests for Panthers with Wells (who I always enjoy watching round the dale) and Wethers who may not have scored many always had the beating of our two. Lambert showed his maturity on track taking a few rides to get the hang then looking likes hes ridden the place for years very impressed with him. Blackbird another who came to the party later on and got some valuable points similar to MPT. For our side Cookie, Sedgy and Wolbert could all have scored a point or so more but where well beaten when they lost heats. The tail end always has me a little worried but took a wee step backwards 2nite. Clegg was dreadful from the gate and although never gave up left himself to much to do. Riss had a great win but some really duff rides aswel wee bit constancy needed. Felt sorry for Branford 2nite (and most night) he seems to ride with the weight of the world on him and in heat 14 made a suberb start and lead most the way before just over doing it and allowed MPT to catch and pass. We have bounced back before after a home defeat and hope we can do it again but a big ask without Masters. Before this meeting I had Glasgow and Edin nailed on for 1st/2nd but Pboro have just joined the party this weekend (and tues) could decide if Edin will challenge for that top spot. -
Edinburgh V Redcar 2nd Leg Ko Cup 1/8/15 @7.00pm
Cj69 replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Seen worse meetings but this was close. Credit given to a few bears tho Kus was very entertaining and never gave up with Anderson trying his best and also Rob Shuttleworth done well with little reward for efforts. Most heats were a forgone conclusion with a weak r/r to cover for Robson. A full team of bears would have been good had they started the season with the current 7. -
Edinburgh Vs Rye House Pl, Friday 24th July
Cj69 replied to cyclone's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not a bad meet considering the state of the track when arrived at stadium, track staff done very well to get it race-able and all the riders gave it ago but as most will have predicted comfortable win for Monarchs. Highlight of the meeting for me was watching Ryes new Dane this season Jakobsen a very capable and smooth looking rider he was very impressive and always in the mix (good race with Agent in heat 15) Bowen and Kennett had some decent moments aswel. Still top of the table with a wee lead, dont envy the drive down to Plymouth for the boys now tho. -

Take a look at Glasgow at the moment some great promotion going on there. Constant tweets and Facebook posts including fan/sponsor interviews and competitions. Although the presentation at stadium still needs a wee bit of work and a more smooth operation (small teething problems really). They are always looking to improve. Definitely jealous of what's happening through there. Many promotions take note.
