  1. Not much of a betting man but since it British GP thot id have a wee go. As well as the GP what sites has betting for the pairs?
  2. Dont normally comment on meets I dont go to but here goes. Redcar must be stoked with that win even they didnt think they would win and along with most Monarchs thought it could be a comfortable away win. But it was not to be and they should be congratulated for not only winning but from coming from behind. Edinburghs long tail was evident 2nite and while the top 4 will win us many meetings one or two have a bad night then defeat is on the cards. Redcar look a decent team now (well for one match) and must be impressed with the new guys scores (iv never heard of him before) and if Roynon can hit form he shud score well from reserve. Hope they use the points available to strengthen as some have suggested.
  3. NKI 8 - 10 £50 MORE Holder 7 - 9 £50 MORE Doyle 7 - 9 £50 MORE Cook 2 - 4 £50 MORE
  4. For whats its worth I had a decent view of the Lawson/Cookie incident. Nothing but handbags. Race over Lawson gives a wee back wheel to Cookie on backstraight who then repays the favour then a wee coming of heads and bikes together from both riders. Masters then got involved trying to get between them before Lawson made his way back to the pits. No point making this bigger than it needs to be. Both riders could have been more mature but it added a wee bit spice to the meeting, something derbies have lacked in recent years.
  5. Well I didn't expect that. Took a wee drive along realistically thinking we could get a point but boy was I wrong. Was like watching Glasgow on friday. Edin far sharper from the gate and looked to have more fight. Good points return from all our boys while Tigers only really have Lawson who stood out. Was a very good meet finished in decent time despite some sore looking crashes (hope both Riss and Lawson are ok) and a wee bit handbags thrown in to get the crowd going. Still impressed every time visit Ashfield now and look forward to the next one.
  6. Really looking forward to this meet. Be the first time in years been to see Edin at Ashfield (no spite just bad planning). Bringing along an 'away' newbie (has done couple Edin meets) and seems to have caught the speedway bug, lets hope he still an Edin fan at the end or I may just leave him there. Obviously would love an Edin win but I will take a close meeting (result either way) with some exciting racing. Any word on the new Glasgow signing that was meant to be announced tonight?
  7. Lets go all out for this first one A Laguta 7 - 9 £100 MORE Vaculik 9 - 11 £100 MORE

  9. I dont mind posting as an Edin fan. No hiding here we lost and deserved too. The fight right from the get go from Glasgow was great, I though once we went 4 ahead that would be it but this is a VERY different Glasgow and they gave us a spanking we deserved on the night. Could go on about our crap riders 2nite but 2nite is about the Glasgow team and well done all involved.

  11. Going to defend Cookie a wee bit here. Can't say iv seen him as a dirty rider (off track maybe) but only really seen him at edin where he can pass anyone and he hasn't given me the impression of being a dirty rider when seem him on the odd ocassiom away from home. There are certainly dirtier/harder racers around. He is one for giving up when at the back but again iv seen loads do it almost every meet there can be a couple top riders who coast round the back after couple laps. I agree he has the ability but he doesn't do himself any favors at times he should jump at every cchance given to ride abroad or for GB but perhaps he's looking after the bank balance we all know it can be an expensive sport ( I don't claim to know his reasons) While he won't be given the same chances as some younger riders he has only ridden 5 years (or is it 6) and has proved he can be a top PL rider and average EL. The next step is massive and I don't see time being on his side but better riders have appeared to step up from nowhere. Some people like him some don't but everyone would love a 10pt rider in their team and can be blinded by his actions as long as they continue to score well. Hands up I'm guilty of that same when you support a winning team. If he is happy with how his career is going why should it bother us. We could say he shud be doing this and that but it's easy to say from behind a keyboard or chatting with mates. He gets more stick with similar level of riders (King/Kennet) and rightly so at times but some people seem to get a kick from people failing. Be it him or someone else that has irked you
  12. This should be a straightforward home win. Be interesting to see how Branford and Riss get on in their new roles. Ippo got a good team who could be a threat if a few of them score well. Unfortunately miss this one as getting dragged kicking and screaming to see Scotland embarrass themselves against Qatar in the Footie (the promise of alcohol can be a very convincing argument).
  13. Thot it was Sundays meet he was missing? Altho now Friday does ring a bell. Hes a big blow be it at The dale or Ashfield such an entertainer. Imagine you will get a guest rather than R/R, Theo possibly (rode quite well last night) or even Wells. Should be a good couple meetings with hopefully good weather and crowds.
  14. About average I would say. Expected a poor crowd given the opposition and iffy weather around the Edin area, but looked decent crowd on 3rd bend (usually a good indication). Nice to see some Comet supporters make the journey.
  15. Firstly hope the two young lads who came out in the 2nd half's are all right was a horrible looking crash. The meeting itself was very boring with almost no passing and races quite spread out. Credit to some of the comets tho, Wells always rides the track well and Pijper and Bach chipped in a few good races. Also nice to see Wethers back on track and a wee win to hopefully boost his confidence. The Monarchs all scored reasonably well without pushing themselves. Tougher challenge next week with Ippo and real test week after with the Money from the West gracing us with their presence.
  16. Going against my fellow Monarchs here but feel strongly about this type on incident. Masters actions should have caused him to been thrown out meeting. Ok Bjerre stuffed him earlier in the race (iv seen much much worse), his reaction after the race to take him out then run over to him and throw couple punches on a guy who was sitting on track was mad then he had to get dragged away from him before finally composing himself. While I admit my view wasn't the best (3rd bend) it looked quite clear what happened. Iv seen handbags which tend to be a couple shoves and mouthing off but if you strike another rider then you should be thrown out of the meeting no matter who you are. Also add the ref would have had a very clear view (if he was watching??) Now to contradict myself. This incident did create a great atmosphere and well done to the travelling Tigers who were very vocal every time Masters came out but equally matched by Monarchs fans. It made the meeting feel more than a formality and added something else to what could have been a boring meeting. Well done on Cookies max which was slightly overshadowed and some good racing from everyone else. Garrity was very impressive and has a great style but there was little back up (Worrall and Bjerre throwing in couple good races)
  17. Should easily win the meeting. Just hope we get some decent races or could be a rather dull meeting. Garrity always worth watching and Compton looking bit like his old self. Firstly will take a dry evening.
  18. Kasprzak 9 - 11 £50 MORE Woffinden 12 - 14 £50 LESS Harris 5 - 7 £50 LESS Jonsson 8 - 10 £50 LESS
  19. Rather enjoyed this meeting, Scunny weren't total push overs despite lack of race winners. Wilkinson particularly impressive with a full compliment of 2nds. Monarchs top three never looked like getting beat till Cookies tumble in his 3rd. Clegg providing much of the entertainment with a couple battles with Luuna. Took a few newbies along who enjoyed it and are keen on returning. Couple crashes, close racing and of course drinks from the bar helped.
  20. NZ (and Aus/SA) do allow a few players a year to play abroad and still play for their country (should they be picked). There are conditions though like being available for their country and training camps if needed. IMO we see sports men and woman all the time not compete in their own country but still represent us. Why should Tai be stuck riding in GB? Poland and Sweden have a much more competitive and structured league and he thinks that's best for him at this point in his career. Why cant we just respect that?
  21. Batchelor 4 - 6 £50 MORE Pedersen 10 - 12 £50 MORE Hampel 11 - 13 £50 LESS Lahti 2 - 4 £50 LESS
  22. Quite an entertaining meeting against a 3 man Glasgow team. Never thought we would lose throughout but Glasgow always kept plugging away including a disastrous TR ride (2 week in a row). Always like seeing Morris never gives up and had some cracking races same with Summers who pops up with a decent race (but usually throws a dud in there) and super dane at reserve who gated his way to an impresive 10+3 (with 2 wins). The rest well just made up the numbers iv never seen Lawson have a good meet (shud pop along to Glasgow more often ) Smith had one decent race and Berge never at the races but picked up some gift points. On to the Champs, Cookie and Masters as expected (thot one would get a max tho) but decent return. Wolbert and Sedgy decent back up. Riss trying wee bit to hard threw away easy points couple times (mainly ht14). Reserves were up and down showing good signs but some scary ones. Very happy to see a competitive Glasgow team even with a depleted team and already looking forward to the League meeting. On to Worky now where without Wolbert think we might struggle. Also add that with the threat of weather meet was over by 9pm, well done Ref/Riders and track staff.
