  1. 1965, Wembley, my first world final, what an atmosphere! (music) "satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones. Coventry, my regular saturday track. "concrete & clay" by Unit 4plus2. The very popular announcer (who sadly died after a short illness & whose name I can't remember), leading the Home & Away fans into their respective war cries. Great racing, 13 heats British League followed by a good second half & leaving the stadium to the lovely record "May each Day" by Andy Williams. Happy days for me. Great site, Regards to all, over to you.
  2. I can confirm that the book is an excellent read. Unfortunately I didn't start going to speedway until 1965, so I never saw the Great man ride. For those of you good people out there who would like to see some film of him in action, it is included on a set of DVD's by Roy Nicholl entitled, "Aces of Yesteryear". There isn't a huge ammount, but as they say, something is better than nothing! Regards to you all.
  3. We were travelling down to Oxford for a Cheetahs/Bees one evening when (whoosh) a Ford (Zodiac?) pulling a trailer with bikes and inside, yes, Ron & Rick. Happy Days.
  4. I have a photo of Cyril at Coventry in the sixties, wearing civies and smiling at the camera.
