Peterborough Panthers 2023
Tommy Sweetman replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Trouble is,Douglas has told Wolves he doesn't want to leave. -
Or even the Worrall,s get back together at Leicester.
-
Why, do you fancy him back instead of Worrall? lol.
-
Waiting for that response...
-
Well if they aren't binned,no Premiership team will take the risk of putting Leon into the main body of their team, and therefore he will be lost to top flight speedway.Scandalous if that happens.
-
Sorry, didn't realise that about Leon. What's the ceiling then for a riders Championship average to be allowed rising star status in the Premiership.

Think Pickering will replace Dougie at Wolves ,especially now that his big mate Sam Masters is having another season at Monmore. It wouldn't come as much of a surprise if Douglas ends up at Peterborough or King's Lynn. -
So much for saying he was off to Leicester, being so called King of Beaumont Park.Realistically he was always likely to stay at Wolves. Think Leon Flint will possibly be next signing.
-
Wolves would bonkers to let Douglas go on the average he finished with.Wasnt always great at Monmore, but more than held his own on the bigger away tracks.Suppose there's always the possibility he wants a change though .
-
And Fast Freddie has always said he'd come back to Monmore before he retires. Not sure what average he would return on though.
-
According Express and Star website at 8.30am both sides are at full strength.
-
Did the team who finished top have first pick,or was it 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd. They seem to change the rules whenever it suits. Think either Wolves or Sheffield are capable of winning both legs tbh.

Stars v Wolves 22nd Sept
Tommy Sweetman replied to kelvinht's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So Wolves are saying after tonight they will know who their play-off opponents will be.Personally I'd like it to be Ipswich, they've beaten us plenty of times this season, but we've never been able to put out either a full or a fully fit side against them . -
My first three on the team sheet would definitely be Masters, Douglas and Flint.Think the only certainty not to be at Monmore next season is Kemp.

Sheffield vs Wolves 1/9/22

Wolves always ride well at Owlerton, and that single point is easily achievable, especially if Kemp and Flint can carry on with their form from Monday. Would love to meet Tigers in the semi,s but thats highly unlikely it will happen. -
Witches v Wolves 25th Aug

It would be a huge shock to see Wolves throw away such a big points gap in making the playoffs, but realistically our title hopes vanished once Adams announced our reserve pairing. It was always going to be a big ask hoping the five riders in the main body of the team, would compensate for the lack of points that Kemp and Flint would bring to the side. -
Is Sam,s season over.Serious shoulder injury sustained last night in Scotland. He's already had surgery, but perhaps Edinburgh fans can let us know how it happened.
-
Err..Wolves have quite a strong top 5,and should easily get to 40 points, but having the weakest reserves in the league,it don't always work out like that.Infact that's the mistake Adams made when he built the side.

Wolves v Kings Lynn 25/7/22

Depends which version they get.The Wolves version or the Poole version. -
Used to be Carling and Stella on draught, not sure what it is now. Won't be Banks's more likely Marstons.

Peterborough v Wolves - Mon 11th July
Tommy Sweetman replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Kemp and Flint are obviously Wolves achilles at present ,so you can't see Basso dropping any points there. But the two Wolves boys are well capable of getting the better of Jenkins.MPT a big loss for the Panthers so Wolves just scraping it for me. -
Wolverhampton v Ipswich 04 July

And tbf we will never ever be able to utilise a rider from the top 5 in the way Ipswich did with Riss going to reserve. Its just the way Adams built the side. -
Sheffield v Ipswich 27 June.

Agree with all of that, except an air fence tragically would have made no difference to the accident that cost poor Gary Peterson his life.He was caterpulted 6/7 feet in the air before crashing head first into a lamp standard. On saying that air/foam fences have saved numerous riders from serious injury, and I dread to think with the modern bikes that are now in use, what would happen if they weren't there.
