Nothing even comes close to Wolves and Cradley. But to be fair,it was so much more hostile, before the Yanks arrived. So much bitterness in the Ivor Brown era, even got a caution myself from the Old Hill constabulary, and i didnt even do anything, bar shoving a air horn up someones skirt.

A very good and informative post Steve.

Coventry Stadium Sold
Tommy Sweetman replied to baz brush's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes Ray,understand what youre saying, but this is not about Coventry speedway. My argument is this the right time to invest youre own money in speedway. Ive got a fairly profitable engineering company, but im also a big speedway fan.But if you ask me,is the time right to invest money(starting from scratch) in forming a speedway club, and all that it entails financially, sorry, but unless you have very deep pockets,it would have to be a categorical no. Its alright saying you want to do something, but its totally diffferent getting it done. . -
Coventry Stadium Sold
Tommy Sweetman replied to baz brush's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Would love to see Cov find a new venue, but for me the overriding fact would it be viable. Sandu has admitted in the past that he wasnt making any money out of speedway, and by the time he has purchased a plot of land, and then put everthing together building a new stadium, how much is it going to cost. Dont know the attendance figures for last season at Brandon, but at an estimate of 1500/2000,its going to take an awfully long time to claw back his investment. Has he got the time and patience,or indeed the money,to carry out this objective. -
Would there be any get out clause to leave Wolves now he belongs to Coventry. Or are the allocated riders cast in stone for this season.
-
Think if you look at just the top five, might be a bit of a struggle to make the play-offs,but with the two reserves we have in place, they could make all the difference between success and failure. As a combo, probably as strong of any in the league.

Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?
Tommy Sweetman replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ivor Brown, suppose thats obvious for Wolves fans from that era. Sure Cradley fans could name a few Wolves riders, that would come under the same category though. But one thing it did bring, and that was passion. And bucket loads of it. -
Elite League Draft Riders
Tommy Sweetman replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good news for Wolves then regarding Joe Jacobs.Signed as draft rider for Wolverhampton, before he put pen to paper to ride for P,boro in the Prem. Even though he rode for Coventry Storm, think he actually belongs to Ipswich. -
Elite League Draft Riders

Probably been asked before, but dont want to trawl through over fifty pages.Who gets gets preference in Elite/Premier for a rider that neither teams owns, and where both teams ride on the same night. -
British Final 2014
Tommy Sweetman replied to Julie Browne's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
As well as its location, get a straw poll from the riders, and Monmore would be right up there. Lynn is probably a fairer track, but East Anglia not the easiest place to drive to.Again,Somerset would have its admirers, but that wouldnt be fair on the fans who travel from the North East and Scotland. Monmore also allocated British U-21 Final.April 15th. -
Have to agree with that. No question, had Pawlicki been on a lower average he would have ended up in Dorset. But on a seven, think Ford felt it to much of a risk.
-
Not according to Nigel Pearson,he said it finished on 31st October.
-
I think Wells will hold the key.He had some really poor performances towards the back end of the season, and was passed quite easily at times. In fact, had Pawliki been assessed at six instead of seven(as he should have been)then i dont think Ricky would have even made it into the team.
-
Tbh i think we will do ok,but can understand why a lot of posters can see us as easy fodder.
-
If Ty is over his nasty injury, think he is well capable of fitting into the third heat-leader spot.Averaging over 9 when he got hurt, but will be a tall order to keep to that standard. Think Wells will be the key for us,very dissapointed with some of his performances towards the end of the season, and lucky to be given another chance this time around.
-
Think a seven point assessed average is to high, and cant remember how he goes around Monmore. On paper this side no great shakes, and not really play-off contenders. But we did say the same about last seasons team. Plus points *Having the world champion at No1,and very pleased with our two reserves.

Of course if Tai dosent return,CVS can always send Nicki P a christmas card. Just joking
-
Its Wolves or nowt for Tai if he rides in Britain. With P,boro now gone, theres only Poole that could afford him,and the sort financial package that he would want. Obviously no room for Tai at Wimbourne Rd,so is it now a matter of take it or leave it for whats on offer. With his other racing commitments,Wolves need Tai more than Tai needs Wolves. If it is about money then some middle ground needs to be reached before this transfers into a major" Huston we have am problem".
-
Whoever we get in now noaksey,play-offs is the best we can hope for. Unless they get major injury problems, could be a walk in the park in the park for Lynn. Three heat-leaders,two young highly promising kids to back them up,and the reserves aint bad either. Adam and Ricky certainly not the answer regardless of what happens with Tai.
-
And not difficult to beat away from Monmore.
-
Hope this isnt reminiscence of when Ole Olsen became World Champion with us,and we all know it was the begining of the end when negotiations started to go sour between him and Mike Parker.
-
If Eastbourne dont want him Mikkel Michelsen would be a steal.Thought he would be one of the first to sign up with the Eagles. Nearly nabbed him last season according to CVS. Tweeted to say hes signing for someone very soon.
-
Think all of our financial budget will have been used up to secure Tai,thats why i still maintain it will be our own assets used(ie Skornicki and Wells).
-
BWitcher im not disputing any of your comments, what ive said before in earlier statements is all about top end strength. Going with Skornicki and Wells(and we still dont know how Ty,s injury situation will work out) i can see a distinct lack of heat winners.Having no serious back-up like Freddie next season, think this is going to throw a huge burden on Tai,s shoulders. To much of a risk without a second heat leader.I know Brum did it last season with all round strength, but the way teams are set up with the reserves next year, just cant see a repeat of what Birmingham achieved with that sort of line-up.
