Hardly a collapse. Why take risks when youre 13 points up with 3 heats left. Would have been different if you still only got 2 points for a less than 6 point win.Absolutely pointless increasing ones average when the match was won. Agree about Lakeside though. Wolves will be lucky to keep it under a 10 point win for the Hammers, especially with Bridger at reserve. Feel more confident about getting something from Lynn on Thursday. Most of our riders go pretty well around their place, but we must bring back Ash for this one, having riden for the Stars last season.

If And When Bomber Retires..............
Tommy Sweetman replied to dj350z's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ole may have said the reason he left Wolves, was because he wanted to ride at a bigger track than Monmore. But that wasn't the case in 77.If I remember correctly,he wanted some kind of retainer/loyalty bonus after being there six seasons. Parker/Bridgett refused to pay it,then it all got rather messy, and he left under a cloud. -
Now hes in Woffy,s corner at the GP,s,and a little whisper in the ear, would he to want the hassle of the Elite League.

Wolves V Leicester 16/5/16
Tommy Sweetman replied to stevebrum's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Is Max Clegg injured ?.Thought he was supposed to ride yesterday at Glasgow in British semi,s. But glad Ash has got another chance to stake his claim. Bech is bringing over a brand new engine,to see if it brings him better fortune. Can see him and Howarth alternating between the reserve berths now.Think it was a one off for Masters last week, cant see him being there again. Should be comfortable for the home team, and no repeat of last seasons final meeting which gave the Lions a rare away win. -
Save Coventry Speedway Petition
Tommy Sweetman replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Havent really kept up to date with the happenings at Cov,but at some stage last year a poster revealed on a different thread, that a pdf file was available showing the development of Stage 1 for the housing project at Brandon. Because everything seems to have quite on that proposal, does that mean that the council threw out those plans,or are they still pending. -
Save Coventry Speedway Petition
Tommy Sweetman replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Signed, but one of the drawbacks I can see*** Wasn't there a news story on Midlands Today about six weeks ago that the Coventry and North Warks area were the worst performing district in the country for achieving the number of house builds set out by the government, and were set to be fined unless the quota was met. Just hoping this doesn't have any detrimental effect about the way Rugby Council decides the outcome of saving the stadium. Good luck, and hope for a happy ending in keeping Brandon alive. -
Adams stated when doing the make up of side during the winter, that he wanted Clegg to be part of the plans. He seems to rate Max higher than he does of one of our own assets.Cant see that myself, because Ash Morris probably deserved his place after some decent performances for Lynn last year. Regards Ellis,it may have something to do with us picking Kyle Howarth on a fairly high average as our tier 1 reserve.Kyle came to us on his EL average,so not sure how much we had to play with for the 2 tier FTR.
-
Completely agree, that's the logical way forward. But unfortunately logic have never been CVS and Adams strong points. Morris has to replace Clegg as our first choice tier 2 rider. Why not use one of our own, rather than borrow one from the Spoons. He is clearly more ready for the task than Max is at the moment,as it showed in last nights meeting and when he rode for Lynn last year. Regards Bech,he was clearly signed on the performance he showed for Lakeside against us last season(15 points ?). Don't know whats gone wrong with him so far this season, but he looks a shadow of the rider that amassed that total at Monmore. Not quite sure what to say about PK.He wasn't really up to pace when I watched him in the Swedish League last week, although he was up against much better riders. Think he would struggle to come from the back even in our watered down league. But if he could make starts on a consistent basis, could make a huge difference to the team. So its really up to the management wether they have the ambition to make these changes whilst we are in a strong position. If past years are anything to go by,then the answer will be, stick with what weve got. But it could well be,after they got the bo!!ocking off Dave Parry in the winter that things must change, perhaps we are in for a surprise.
-
Max Clegg is clearly out of his depth at both EL and PL.For his sake,he needs to be given a rest from Wolves duties, cant be good for his confidence when he can hardly pick up a point. Don't know what the rules are now(they seem to change every five minutes)for the reserve berths. Could Ashley Morris replace Max as tier two FTR ?.

Think if I remember right, some one posted on here that the GP,s appeared on YouTube 24 hours after the event. Never actually found out if that was true, because always watched the racing on Sky. Because I haven't got BT,i will try this out on Sunday, and if it works, plan watch it on the box via Chromecast.

Could Woffy Be Making An El Return?
Tommy Sweetman replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Interesting quote in todays local paper by Nigel Pearson "Woffinden has, unquestionably, lost some of his UK fanbase after quitting the Elite League in the winter of 2014/15-and now stepped aside from defending his British title this June. These two moves alone mean he isn't quite the golden boy he once was in the eyes of most British supporters.--and he knows it." Think that's a bit of unnecessary journalism from NP.From some of the posts on here, think we already have the gist of this story. -
Wolves V Lakeside 18 April 2016

With this brisk breeze, probably have to water the track. -
"A spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down" CVS wont mind whatever the medicine is each week,as long as it pays Ladbrokes rent.

Wolves - Swindon 4/4/16 Rained Off
Tommy Sweetman replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Apparently Jason Doyle had a go at Wolves management on Twitter for the late postponement of Mondays meeting. Im not a big fan of either CVS or Adams, but to be fair to them I think Jason is out of order on this one. It didn't really start raining until 5 o,clock,so it was probably an hour after that when the meeting was called off.Would think all of the riders would have been in transit at that time, not just Doyle. -

Bright and sunny at the moment, with a brisk breeze. But heavy showers on and off are forcast. -
Belle Vue -v Wolves 25-03-16 Good Fiday
Tommy Sweetman replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
So even CVS dosent know whats going on. From this mornings Express and Star ** "Bosses at Wolverhampton Wolves speedway have confirmed Friday afternoon,s Elite League opener at Belle Vue is off" "We wont be there on Friday, but they,ll certainly be here on Tuesday for our first match". -
Any idea who the mind boggling riders were for Plan A which ulitmately didnt materialise. Would love to know who that heat-leader was who had never appeared in the UK before.Russian?.
-
Be interesting to see if Fred switches over to using the Gerhard engine in the coming season. He used it in the final meeting of the season when winning the Olympique at Monmore. He looked more of the Fast Freddie that we became used to watching.Pity he didnt use it earlier in the season.
-
Ridiculous to have such a big margin for instance between Coventry and Wolves.Perhaps a one point margin, but NINE . Dont think you would be getting many Bees fans taking odds of 5/1.
-
Thats how i see it as well.Perhaps any four from the top five for the play-offs. Just cant see Lakeside,Lynn or Leicester being strong enough to make a challenge.

Loved both the Pink and Sports Argus. Great congregating with Wolves,Baggies and Villa fans outside Haydens news shop in Sedgley(although sometimes it got a bit heated)at 6 o,clock on Saturday nights. Think, even though both papers were big rivals, when the Argus finished in 2006,it had an effect on the Sporting Star as well.I know quite a few fans who didnt bother with the papers after that. Yes, the internet had a big effect on the publications, but it was no substitute for the real thing on our Saturday night fix reading reports less than two hours after the final whistle.

Would you Adam and Eve it.A promoter comes out with a quote that we have known for years. "Accepts that promoters are tying themselves in knots with the sports regulations" Never in a million years did i think they would admit to their guilt.
-
Must admit i only buy it now when Wolves(football)win or someone threatens to string up Jez Moxey . Agree, since it changed to morning publication and printed yesterdays news, its been total rubbish. And who the hell wants to know whats going on in Walsall or Stourbridge.Whens its a City edition,i want it to mean Wolvo, not somewhere ive got no interest in. Used to regularly win the countries best local paper, but readers figures have declined since they cut costs and reported on any old codswallop. Hit and miss about speedway stories they print.Just happen to pick a day when Adams gave his interview.
