  1. Roynon !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a chance. Swap Roynon and Morris for Klindt a 4 pointer.
  2. Agree. I,d take Ellis to replace PK. Might not do it in the first season, but long term(if not wanted by Lakeside)well worth the gamble.
  3. Yep. Not quite sure but think he scored around 15 points from half a dozen matches in 1967/68.
  4. You can probably say the same about most clubs tbh. But for me the biggest winner of our successful season is undoubtedly Dave Parry.Without his funds propping the club up,hate to think where we would be now. I know lots of sponsors that would have given up long ago, given our dismal performances of the last few seasons. But he stuck by us,and our title triumph is a just and worthly reward for his outstanding loyalty.
  5. In his newspaper column yesterday,Nigel Pearson says it was wrong to doubt CVS and Peter Adams. Some of us ? saying Adams should have retired, and had lost the plot, and a new man in charge was needed.CVS was to loyal and should have sold up. And then calling us keyboard experts and anonymous cowards. That's a bit strong Nige..................... Wonder if hes referring to me and Wolfsbane .
  6. Strange, cant remember Shovlar calling it a trick track when they walloped us 59-36 a couple of seasons ago,in fact cant remember many calling it a trick track at all prior to this season when we lost 10 at home in the previous two. Its all so very convenient for some to use it as an excuse, but the silence is deafening when they come to the Green and turn us over. Fair play to the Belle Vue,none of their supporters(bar one)have complained much, because they have had to put up with the same criticism about the dog track in the past(and also Lakeside). Monmore is what it is.The dog track opened in 1928,so its hardly our fault that we are left with a shape of track that has to fit within its perimeter.
  7. It was handbags. But did hear yam-yam c---s mentioned.Just a couple of Belle Vue fans involved, but lucky it was at Monmore and not at the Molineux.
  8. Not sure this is quite right but according to ukgreyhoundracing.com,the capacity of Monmore is 1,150. If that's the case, how does the speedway make any money. Be interesting to know what the capacity licence is within Health & Safety.
  9. They will have to open that area(bend 4) in front of the dog kennels.
  10. Poole only lost by 6 points at Monmore a few weeks with half a team. This team they are putting out tonight (even with R/R) looks stronger than when they last visited. Thorssell scored a 15 point max that night,Harris is a good replacement but he isn't going to get anywhere near that figure. A 12 point lead is just to much of a deficit to claw back.Think the score will be around the same as last time,Wolves winning by six,but falling short on aggregate.
  11. As long as this man remains in the sport, speedway will never ever have a level playing field(a level playing field is a concept about fairness ,not that each player has an equal chance to succeed, but that they all play by the same set of rules) This man has no respect,no morals and above all no dignity for the sport in which hes supposed to represent.
  12. Starman can always ring Ladbrokes up,and ask them why it takes all day on Wednesday to clear all the dog s--t up from the previous nights meeting.
  13. Thing is Ray,guys like Starman and Shovlar think its a given, that teams having the choice of pick, wanting to ride the first leg away from home. Its not mandatory to ride the first tie away,as other teams have done so in the past.
  14. Have you actually asked Ford or Middlo what they wanted to do. I posted on here a couple of weeks ago before the the play-offs were decided, that if Poole and Wolves were to ride each other, then if the Pirates finished second, they might want the first leg at home. The reason being, that Wolves are normally useless around Wimbourne Rd,and could easily concede a margin of around 15 points to take back to Monmore. Sorry, but if you cant defend that sort of advantage, then you don't deserve to go through to the final
  15. Why wouldn't Poole want the first leg on their normal race night next Wednesday. Wolves are useless around Wimbourne Rd(worse than the Pirates are at Monmore) They could quite easily build up a margin of around 15 points, and if they cant defend that then they don't deserve to go through to the final.
  16. Glad they didn't,because it would then show up what a rubbish track weve got compared to Belle Vue.
  17. Tai tweeted to say hes riding for Masarna next season.
  18. No Thorssell for this one(not sure about Lindgren)due to the Swedish play-offs. Obviously nothing riding on this except for local pride. It would be no surprise if the Bees sneaked a win in our final meeting before the proper stuff begins.
  19. Think the quality of the shale used nowadays has got a lot to do with the standard of racing. You hardly ever see riders blasting around the outside now at Monmore, and dispite of the track being regularly named "track of year",its been sometime since one can say the racing has being exiting. Think this has something to do with the amount of clay in the shale, although not sure what the mixture used to be in the "old days". Monmore to my mind has always been red in colour, whereas the old Cradley track used to have more of a grey surface. Am I right in thinking that all the shale used now on speedway tracks comes from the one source(Breedon Aggregates)or is it quarried from different parts of the country?. You certainly notice the difference in the shale, when you watch the racing from Sweden or Poland.Do they use less of a clay mixture than we use here in the UK. Could be wrong of course, and it might be all in the head.Especially when NKI broke the track record at Wolves a couple of weeks ago. But it does make you wonder when the likes of Freddie and Tai often stuggle on the track surface, and some lesser -known riders even have trouble turning the bike.
  20. It hates me to say it being a Wolves supporter, but the shape of the old Dudley Wood track would take some beating. Its always been said it was the same shape as Wembley(but couldn't see it myself). Of course now having Colin Pratt at Swindon,he would have first hand knowledge of the old Cradley venue, and im sure he will probably have some imput for Blunsdon,s future development.
  21. Great news for the Robins, but ironic that having a new speedway track with houses a few feet away, that Cradley cant get Dudley Council to find them a site because of the noise factor to properties half a mile away.
  22. Oh right..... Seems he has took the decision with grace then.
  23. Yes he clearly knew of the decision to be replaced. But cruising around half a lap behind the others wasn't the correct way to go about it. And yet in the local press, Adams states "Ive loved working with Joonas, and would happily do so in the future". Not so sure the rider shares the same enthusiasm though.
  24. No excuses for Kylmakorpi,s performance last night.Cant blame his knee injury or his virus,he was fine at Daugavpils on Saturday and showed no ill effects then. Showed no interest at all against Belle Vue,don't know why he even bothered turning up.Hes always had this stroppy attitude through out his career, but Monday night he took it to a new low. The only way I can see Adams and CVS changing things,is if there were words between management and rider in the pits which we don't know about. Cant see Freddie being very happy if he loses his best mate, but its a team sport and you expect better from one of your heat leaders than what we got last night. One can also put some of the blame on Howarth, who has under performed all season. But we are stuck with him,and there are no alternatives. Good luck to Belle Vue,they are a fine side, and deserve some success for their efforts this season. Ps.What has happened to TNT and Starman.Just gone missing or banished to the naughty room .
  25. Think we might have to look at the reserve option to if we have to travel to Wimbourne Rd again this season. Im a fan of Max Clegg, and think hes got a bright future, but that's two meetings now he been to Poole, and not registered a point. Would probably give Ash a go now,but it would still be hard for either of them considering the strength of the Pirates reserves.
