2013 Best Ever Gp Line Up?
Dave_minall replied to Gavan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The bad thing about having such a strong line up is that this time next year there will be some very sore scratched heads trying to decide who the wild cards will be -
I may be shot down in flames for this prediction but I strongly think Ward will win the world title next year, barring injuries or 'off track incidents'...

Next Years Gp

I don't understand how this is even a case. The parents and the child knew she had a heart condition, and still they let her drink the stuff. It's called an energy drink for a reason, that and its very clearly written how much caffeine is in a can. I drink the stuff like it's going out of fashion, but if I knew I'd got a condition that means it could have a negative effect on my body, I wouldn't go near it. -
I've watched the video from both angles and I'm also of the opinion that Roynon held his line and Stefan changed his line so dramatically that Adam had nowhere to go. There's no way a rider would purposefully 'flick' their back wheel into an rider when they are so close, mainly because of how foolishly dangerous that is and also because it would give Roynon no benefit whatsoever. If he did that on purpose then he's creating wheelspin and that would allow Stefan through. Why would he do it? Simple. That was a result of Stefan completely cutting Roynon's nose off at a point in the track where you're supposed to be getting your wheels in line to head down the straight. We all know what an awesome person Adam is and he is an extremely fair rider that never makes rash and dangerous moves - he's always very calculated and weighs up every move before doing so - what people suggest he 'did' on here is just not in his nature. Anyway get well soon dude - fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

I'd much rather have seen a points system that rewards the rider who came in 4th in the final. They should be rewarded for getting there in the first place. Perhaps 4, 3, 2, 1? -
If Sky don't renew the contract we won't get to see it anyway!

If red bull gives you wings, how come he came down to earth so fast? -

The funny thing about this whole debate is that if wild cards didn't exist then none of this would have happened. The 15 best riders in the world would be there off their own backs and that alone. Although this opens up the debate of injured riders such as Jarek who deserves his place but would have been denied it in 2013 if it wasn't for wild cards. Oh I don't know. I'm going to go bury my head in a rather large plant pot. -

We know he's switching engine tuners for next year, and with extra sponsorship it's a possibility that he could do better than expected. Lets be honest though, he can't really do much worse than Bomber did, and that's no disrespect to him, we know what he is capable of. He's just had a bad couple of years. -
You've got it spot on. I love Harris and when he's on form there's nobody else I like to watch more. I was indeed referring to his strop in the SS when he stated that if he didn't get the wild card slot he'd quit the world cup. Some of you need to chill out!

Jem is still riding? I remember racing against him back in 2004 when he rode for Wolverhampton's (then) conference league side!

Confirmed 2013 Gp Riders!
Dave_minall replied to Hunty's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was hoping Michael Lee would have done this back in the day, but I guess not. -
Surely this also means we'll have to find a replacement for Bomber in the world cup?
-
Considering how strong the GP will be next year, it would be a HUGE achievement for Tai to get a top 8 position. By my reckoning, half of the field could win the world title.
-
that's a FACT apparently.
-
I used to ride at Wolverhampton after the elite league meetings in the 2nd half races - I can tell you there's nothing more annoying than having to unload the van, get changed, warm up the bikes to be told that the main meeting overshot its allotted time and that the 2nd half wasn't happening. I don't even know why people still refer to it as '2nd half racing' any more - at best you'd be lucky to get 2 rides nowadays.
-
If these riders are picked for the GP next year, it could potentially be the most exciting SGP ever. Never before have I seen a field of riders where any one of them could win a GP.
-
unless maybe a second counter starts when the riders get to the tapes? they have 2 minutes to get from the pits and then a further 60 seconds to pick a groove to gate from?
-
This isn't really necessary - just ask the start Marshall to be a bit more ruthless when ordering the riders to tapes?

Grand Prix Speedway In Finland 2014-2016

Oh no, another running track... it's like the Berlin GP of 2001 all over again -
Harris Threatens To Quit Team Gb
Dave_minall replied to JT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree - we definitely don't have the same structure Denmark/Sweden/Poland do, but you have to admit with the efforts of Phil Morris and co have put in this year, we are in a better position than previous years. What I'm trying to say is that GB won't need Harris in a few years time. You seem rather pessimistic today Mr. Rising? that's normally my forte! -
Harris Threatens To Quit Team Gb
Dave_minall replied to JT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree, they won't, but by chucking our youngsters in at the deep end it in theory should spur them on. I remember a few years ago denmark had a test match against team GB at wolverhampton and they tracked a VERY young side, of which most of them are now heat leaders in the world's top leagues. This is a different matter however, we know Harris has grit and determination, but if he's prepared to spit his dummy out because he can't get yet another wild card pick then let him! Give the youngsters a chance, even if we do get an absolute pasting for the next 2 or 3 years. -

Dave_minall replied to JT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If he wants to turn his back on the world cup because the powers that be don't think he's good enough for the GP's then screw him. We can give his WC place to a youngster and bring on some more talent. We'll do awfully for a couple of years granted but in the long run we'll be better off -
Whilst this may be good news, we all know what happens when fathers of ex-riders take over their local track (newport..) lets hope this time things work out for the better.
