  1. Cheeky bet on Woffy to win tomorrow. Skybet have him down as 12/1 at the moment. Could be a sly investment.
  2. But surely by doing so it would teach him what the big boys are like? I know just being there will be an experience but he has no idea what he's up against by standing by the pit gate all night watching them go around. Personally I think Craig would love the chance to prove that he wouldn't be there to make the numbers up. Granted if the track was one of the normal purpose built tracks he would struggle but in my opinion not around the small space that is cardiff.
  3. He did say this and since he was denied the GP slot nothing has been said since. He must have thrown his toys out the pram and then realised that he needed them afterwards. We need to bleed in some fresh blood into the GPs. Look at the other rounds - we have unknown youngsters at every round (pretty much) with the exception of cardiff. Craig Cook would at least put the cats among the pigeons because in reality, he doesn't give an S as to who's alongside him at the tapes. It would be very much like when Lee Richardson (RIP) rode superbly well back in 2006 I believe and very nearly made the final. No pressure = more fun Harris will go in believing that he might have another shot at the GPs and he will probably crumble. I'd love to see a youngster going out and beating the best. Looks like we'll have to wait until they qualify outright though as Harris will probably get the wild card spot until he's using a zimmerframe.
  4. Whilst I do agree with you, a brush would do the trick the problem with fresh wet shale is that it tends to turn to a jelly like substance when it gets soaked. If you stood on a banked track that was soaking wet there's a great chance you'd slide all the way to the curb with no effort whatsoever I'm not on BV's side by the way - if this is the true extent of the 'damage' this is nowhere near bad enough to call a meeting off. Brush it off, put some sawdust down. 7 heats later nobody will be riding anywhere near it anyway.
  5. We're in an unfortunate situation where most promoters and clubs need to bring in a younger age group, and the only way to do this is to appeal to them via the means of technology and accessibility - the downside to this is that 95% of promoters and clubs don't have the man power to have a dedicated team devoted to marketing, and thusly older means of communication have to suffer. I agree there is a fine line here where we don't want to alienate our older fan base but at the same time not to come across to younger folks by baffling them with old means of promotion and communication. We don't want them to come across as archaic at all otherwise that will mud the message. I'd like to think I have a viable solution but all I can say is that promoters need to bear in mind both target audiences when communicating news and finding that perfect line where its accessible to youngsters but also appealing to our older members too.
  6. And most of this is organised by Steve Brandon - it is essentially his job to keep everything on schedule.
  7. as soon as some odds come online I'll be getting involved. I'm feeling a 4 point away win myself
  8. Are we talking about the chap with the grey chin beard, or the chap with dreadlocks and more metal in his face than what's on the bikes?
  9. The final 3 rounds will suit Gollob's style, so if he is to have a dip in form he needs to have it around Cardiff really. He could afford to have a bad round there and possibly at Copenhagen, but judging by the style of tracks he could come on strong in the final 3 rounds to pinch the title. I'd much rather another young'un wins as this keeps things interesting but either way, we're still in for a top season of GP racing
  10. It is in a nutshell exactly the same, it's just not watered down with fancy intros/studios/etc. Much more to the point. I like.
  11. Backless, we don't tend to agree at the best of times, but you are right. The Eurosport coverage is to the point and we get to see what we want to see, racing. None of this back and forth to a studio where we get more of the same opinions from Keith 'This isn't road racing' Huwen and Sam Ermolenko and friends. The Eurosport coverage (even though it's essentially just a feed + commentators) is no frills, just racing and the occasional interview (which is always, beautifully given by Steve Brandon)
  12. Not really. If you've got a problem with what you see then contact them? If you have then there's not much else to do.
  13. Then cancel your subscription? Pretty simple if you ask me.
  14. I do like Eurosport doing the GPs. To the point and no BS. The only thing I have to complain about is the chap who does a brief rundown of the show so far just after the ADVERT breaks. Here is a race... Iversen is in the lead... licks the fence... on the way...through STOP PAUSING SO MUCH MAN
  15. And he was rubbish, unprofessional and WOULD NOT STOP comparing speedway to road racing. It's been 10 years Keith, we get the picture.
  16. I see what you mean when you told me to read the Star about Kelvin's opinions on tyres. I clearly wasn't thinking outside the box! A great read. Looking forward to more of this!
  17. I couldn't agree more dude - this is just common in city centres nowadays and is EXACTLY what people are like from the ages of 17-25 and that's what a lot of people on these forums just don't see. That's life.
  18. Some of you fail to realise that this is what the youth of today are like. I'm 25 and I went out last weekend and got drunk out of my tree on friday, saturday and sunday, despite having work monday morning. Are you all going to have a go at me because of it? Just because Darcy is in the public eye doesn't mean he is denied his rights to live his life how he wants to. He's just a target for the media, given his track record (no pun intended)
  19. Well if I'm honest, 'folk' won't make the blindest bit of difference posting what they think of Darcy's downtime performances, so what is the point. If he's going to continue enjoying his youth like everyone should, then he's going to do that.
  20. Just let the lad enjoy his youth whilst he can. Role model or not. Michael Lee was just as bad if not worse and he was in the UK national press all the time. This happens. Just get off his case and enjoy watching him ride whilst he's still in his prime.
  21. Steve Johnston actually did a section very similar to this on the SGP website before Auckland last year, it was great but too short in my opinion. With regards to the tyres though, there isn't much to discuss - the tyres are standard and all they do is inflate or deflate them. They could incorporate something about wheel base though I guess.
  22. Really enjoyed the camera angle yesterday that they've got mounted on a radio controlled helicopter - I saw that they were testing one in a photo a few weeks back. There was a couple of hiccups where the riders were very close to being out of shot, but all in all, it was refreshing and nice to see them trying new stuff yet again. Jan Staechmann and Chris Louis make a great team together on the inside track section too.
  23. I agree to a certain extent. Somerset is pretty much without fault and produces amazing racing, yet Wolverhampton is an egg shape and that also produces some cracking races. Kings Lynn (as we've seen) produces some breathtaking races and that is also a near perfect track. I can see Kelvin's point, but at the same time it is flawed. A perfect track promotes confidence whereby a flawed track would suit a 'thinker'... 2 sides of the coin!
  24. Looks awesome but that track looks like it could do with some water
