British Final 2021
jenga replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Err , Adam Ellis has just wont it . as did cook .as did roo boy while riding in the upper crust league . be honest ,the riders that are doing both leagues SHOULD be doing it the top league only . it now looks as though the championship is stronger than the crusty league without bigger wage bills . if riders can ride on cheaper rater in the so called lower league , they can do it in the top league as well !. -

in the dying embers of British speedway , how many times will a championship rider win the premiership riders championship ? -
2 lap races ! riders will spend more time gardening than racing . why not give the riders extra points on their teams total when a rider gets to the tapes first, and so on . pretty soon we will all be gardening and growing our own food . thats the only type of gardening i would like to see . wonky veg n all that. . farmers were ploughing wonky carrots back into their land cos supermarkets wanted perfect products for the customers .. its time to plough the greedy mob back into the soil and start a new crop of non greed .exciting riders . speedway id goosed as we used to know it .. its a ten pund sport all day long .

Birmingham & Newcastle deadline
jenga replied to MartinBSN's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
who on earth is going to buy a speedway bike now ? not many tracks are going to be open to have a spin on . i was not in the loop about Newcastle and Birmingham being in trouble .. as was mentioned before , its a £10 sport all day long . if riders want to make a killing while doing the sport . go and ride in another Country that can afford your demands . -

Why Do Speedway Bikes Run on Methanol?

good topic on the fuel used by the bikes . i would say all the replies are correct and as one poster said , petrol burns at a higher temp . meth requires a jet in the carb as big as the average mans a**e . i do think that some of the large four stroke engined are very reliable (KTM) and could well take a place in speedways revival . you dont need all the latest stuff to make money at speedway. get a part time job ! ! ! do they have flywheels on speedway bikes., are they not built into the crank ? -
JEEZ , its Saturday night , where have all the speedway meetings gone ? as the above poster says , lets go back to basics and more importantly , part time riders with full time supporters . cannot see any new breed of new fans coming through to keep it going .greedy riders want 5 mins work and a bit of bike washing and the supporters to pay for it !

riders numbers come from their early days in motorsport . youth events . i could be wrong , but i think cookie had number 11 in his early days of motocross . then he added an extra 1 to make 111 . i think it is something to do with an event in the family . but not too sure . when my brother was doing mx he had numbers 4, 32 kenny roberts number as he was riding yamaha at the time . there was one other number he used , but i cannot think what it was . i think he rode in four different clubs around the north and sometimes his number was already taken by another rider in his class .. hence the change . ahh , the good old days . the number 69 or 96 is a good un as it reads the same upside down when you have an off !

that could be a task too far !

the bug (covid) will return big style and fans/supporters will get cheesed off . normal rallying has all but finished . only big events run. mx are finding it hard to find land for tracks . road rallying is finished . speedway is pricing itself out of joe bloggs pocket . there will not be young uns to carry on the support for most forms of sport . councils grabbing council tax . when you have paid your mortgage , you will still another one to donate money to like it or not . so we all ask for extra money at our place of work cos we are find it hard to live and that puts the price of their product up . big circle ! lots of workers are in working poverty . there is no way out . yep , speedway is all but gone . look @ the premier teams line ups and compare them to the championship line ups . almost the same .but life goes on , sort of . just my way of looking at things . right or left !

why develop an engine when it will not be required in the next 3 years . speedway is finished ,as are most motor sports . it may have a use tho . Briggs n Stratton may use it in their lawn mowers. it will get the grass cut in half the time .
