i agree , it is sad .but the people to blame are the promotion of clubs who dont cut their cloth accordingly ! there are only a handful of clubs that can run their club and pay out large sums of money to riders . good luck to them . if ride X gets large sums per point , then their mates want the same . we all know a good team will attract bigger followers , but in time the followers get board and find something else to do like fishing , bowls or even budgie jumping .lol. you dont need a million pound team the get entertainment for your crowd .so the promotions are to blame for thinking they need x amount of fans through the door to make it pay . last off all , its the local fans who dont attend home meetings because the next home meeting is against a much weaker side , they give it a miss and before long they stop coming . support YOUR team , because one day it will be gone . PS the 70s were great , riders had a first job to go to and speedway was a hobby/sport that gave them bread n butter money .good days lost forever IMO. look on the Scunthorpe Scorpions 2022 thread . page 27 , first post .
