Hancock And Gollob When Will They Retire ?
pawel115 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Gollob loves motocross it is where he started and had considerable success as a junior before venturing into speedway he does a lot of motocross these days financially he is well off money he made in speedway is unheard off in most sports in Poland not to mention general population I still think he will be connected to speedway in some form when he retires. He is Gollob motocross from this year -

Uk Court Case To Ban Streaming Sports
pawel115 replied to uk_martin's topic in International World of Speedway
For some of us overseas streaming is the only way to watch speedway if I could I would get sky sports or polish sport tv channels but they are not available here bummer if they try to block it. -
I may also add that motorcycles were always popular in Poland especially after WW 2 where cars were for many years luxury items people a fond of motorcycles both of my grandfathers never owned a car but both rode motorcycles so did my father I live in Canada now where motorcycles are looked upon as extra toys( I have a motorcycle too) for grownups I guess its different mentality, speedway was always popular in Poland maybe less so now but its still nr one sport in the country when it come to attracting people when Lee Richardson died last year that was nr 1 news on all national networks not sure if that was the case in UK ( I may be wrong there).Another valid reason for speedway popularity is that the speedway cities never really had good football teams

Speedway in UK is pretty cheap compared to Poland ,for example in Rzeszow ticket for adult for league match is 30zl unless you want the new grandstand then its 50zl in that region most common salary take home pay is in 1200-1700zl range( 240 Pounds-340 Pounds ) divide that by about 5 to get Pounds, when I was living in Poland it use to be cheaper plus the unemployment rate was way lower then, the whole south east of Poland (speedway cities Rzeszow,Tarnow,Krosno) has one of the highest unemployment rates in Poland, lot of folks take their kids to matches then you buy food etc and the cost goes up ,most of my friends who live abroad(UK,France,Germany) would come back to Poland tomorrow for 800 Pounds a month salary.

All the commentators talk about today is how dusty it is one of them is former rider for Zielona Gora,Leszno,Rzeszow and Pila Jan Krzystyniak one of the best polish riders of 1980's.Anita Mazur the young lady who does the interviews is despite her age pretty good at asking good questions she also got a nice 30 min show about different speedway riders called "Czarny Charakter" every week new episode some of those are on youtube.Nice race by Iversen
