Well, that's one solution I didn't think of: Sunthorpeslashsheffield Saintsslashprowlers it is ! So Squall, are you going to abandon Buxton and support the Saintsslashprowlers ?
-
A better geographical compromise for sure. However, I imagine that there will be a hell of a lot of Vikings fans still pining for their team compared to die hard Dragons fans still out there.

Lewis, many thanks for the link to the Scunthorpe Telegraph. It seems like this is driven by a need to cut costs, which is understandable. Just hope that if the Saints have stand alone meetings at Sheffield they don't perform in front of empty terraces. Maybe having Ashley Birks doubling up with the Tigers will encourage support from the locals. I presume that Scunthorpe will run the traditional Bank Holiday double-headers which will account for four meetings. With Sheffield also hosting four fixtures this just leaves a couple of dates (don't forget about the KO Cup)for Scunthorpe to fit in amongst the Premier League fixtures.

Has anyone seen the Speedway Star this morning? Any flesh on the bones to report ? I subscribe to the SS but won't get to see it until later as I'm out well before the postman arrives.
-
It's good experience for the youngsters to race on different tracks, so sharing the meetings at both Sheffield and Scunthorpe is a plus. But how do Tigers fans feel about turning out to watch "Scunthorpe Saints" ? Bit of a hard sell for the Tigers promotion methinks.

Well the release about "Press & Practice" says "For the first time in three years the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions and Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints are set to hold their Press and Practice Day at the weekend and are encouraging the club’s fans to get involved and come and meet the team in person. The date is Sunday 13th March and on-track session is set to start around midday but once the riders have finished practicing they will be interviewed in the club bar which is to be opened up for the day.". What will be Sheffield's input ?

Sheffthorpe Steelers or Scunfield Ironmen ??

As trailed on their website this afternoon, in tomorrow's Speedway Star there is a story about Scunthorpe and Sheffield fielding a joint team. " Scunthorpe and Sheffield agree a co-operation deal which will see the two Premier League sides join forces to track a third division team". Can anyone shed any light on this ?

Couldn't agree more about that race, one of my best memories from 2010.

A most timely piece of good news. So pleased for all the Fen Tigers fans.

With all the fixtures ? Fingers crossed for Scunny. -
All hope is not yet lost. Quoted from the Scunthorpe Forum tonight, Rob Godfrey says: "I have read the BSF and i was at that meeting and all i can tell you all the speculation from people who think they know is totally : httrubbish and the vote split is inaccurate. We as a league have not given up on mildenhall and all i can tell you it is not a lost cause yet and it has nothing at all to do with fixture congestion.".
-
Isn't the bottom line that the other promoters have come to the conclusion that speedway at Mildenhall is not sustainable in the present circumstances (local / national / economic etc.). The recent record of various promotions at West Row in the last few years would seem to provide compelling evidence to support this conclusion. That said I do feel sorry for all the enthusiastic Fen Tigers fans out there.

Bye Bye Cobras. Hello Hawks.

Paul Cooper would be a great choice for No. 1. Good for Paul so he could regain match fitness after his injury and put himself in the shope window for when the Premier League teams are looking to make team changes. Good for the Saints to have such a committed and experienced leader to help bring on the youngsters
-
Can we assume that the Saints line-up will be; Gary Irving Ashley Birks Steve Worrall Richie Worral + 3 or 4 others ?
-
Are Somerset on a curfew ? Scunthorpe run vast majority of home NL fixtures as the second part of a double header. Could this work at Somerset ?
-
Hope you are right, the more the merrier.
-
Odds on that it wil be a ten team league, i.e. Belle Vue Buxton Dudley Isle of Wight Kings Lynn Mildenhall Newport Rye House Scunthorpe Stoke Any idea when the NL meeting will take place ? I've lost track of all the postponements !

Refreshingly candid comments from Zorro. Seems he didn't find it easy to juggle GP on Saturday and then switch to League action on Sunday. Same could be said for Tai, but he didn't mention that, but found time to congratulate Gollob on his World Title (creep ) -

I wonder if Marek Cieslak was talking about Kolodzeij's prospects for a Wild Card for GP 2011 ? -

It's not even about nationality. It's about TV markets for BSI's "media partners" (ugh ! - horrible expression ) However, I think Sky would be better off focusing on Bomber and quietly forgetting about Tai and letting him concentrate on domestic leagues. "The Second Coming" hasn't really worked out, has it? All a bit too much too young for Tai this year. I'm sure that the Polish TV companies will be throwing money at BSI in the wake of Gollob's title, so it would make sense for Kolodzeij to take the "GB" place for next year.
