  1. It was ted nelson I believe, and yes it was "wellie" that went through it!
  2. Personally I think the club should be applauded for entering a competition in the national league. Not only will it be a confidence boost for their Elite League reserves but will also give extra rides to a few other young brits too.Who knows , one or two may catch the eye on a track that is not seen by many national league riders.2015 draft reserves in the making? Its just a shame more clubs cant/wont give more chances to the youngsters.
  3. Hans Nielsen had some great races with bo Petersen and crumpy at the abbey, loved to boo him. Per Jonsson prob one of my favourite "away team" stars, awesome.
  4. On decent machinery there is no reason why Ulrich Ostergaard couldn't put a couple of points on his average now he has the eoes as his home track
  5. 2brits at reserve! How many years have people been calling for a system that gives the young brits a look in?Now it looks like being implemented , the majority of comments are negative!FFsake wind your necks in and lets give this proposal some SUPPORT.Something needed to be done, and a step has been taken in the right direction. Lets give our home grown talent a chance. They will be part of a team with much more experienced riders they can learn from, they will have a couple of reserve rides each meeting PLUS the opportunity to mix it with the big boys, confidence will come with racing against reserves and that will hopefully be carried across to any extra rides they may get. Sure, it may be too much of a step for some but not for others but no one will know until the idea is tried out.Roll on 2014
  6. Couldnt agree more, dan halsey appears to have a nasty habit of turning right on opponents. There are hard riders and there are dirty riders, but that was reckless and dangerous, deliberate and un necessary
  7. That is something a promoter would need to consider prior to building his team, ie how many likely absences and build the team accordingly. How about any team absences, bring in the no 8 and bump everyone up a place in the team, ie 2nd heat leader becomes no1 in his absence or 1st reserve moves up to 2nd string if one is absent. I know there will always be unforseen absences, it is inevitable but if a system like this was used surely promoters would have to seriously consider whether or not to offer a team place to a rider who has a history or likelihood of missing several meetings.
  8. Should have picked richie worrall for event 2, he has take some seriously big scalps around the NA recent weeks
  9. I seem to remember lasse bjerre rode something like 11 meetings for the stars in the pl, almost becoming an asset, then peterboro came in and signed him as a "protected asset" or some tosh like that, effectively pinching him from under kl's noses so be aware!
  10. Riders have been banned in the past, including a world champion (gary havelock) for. substance use. Comments on social network sites have led to bans / reprimands , so what makes darcy ward so special that he appears to avoid punishment?Hopefully his visa appication will be turned down.Yes, he is a phenomenal talent on a speedway bike and good to watch but do we want to be seen to condone the actions of a young man with dubious morals just because he can race a speedway bike?
  11. True, but every cloud has a silver lining , hey
  12. Didnt buster say that there would be no speedway for a week before the world cup at the last home meeting?
  13. We will see soon enough.I really hope we stay PL this season, if peterboro drop down and ipswich as well we could have some great local derbies with some ATMOSPHERE. If its EL , well i think it will be a shame with the league in such a mess, but will try to keep an open mind, see if i can afford it, and hope i dont get fed up with the repetition and blank weeks
  14. You almost had mer convinced then "easternwolf", right up until you said "the el promoters have learned their lesson",
  15. Certainly sounds that way doesnt it.Isnt it bloody ironic, in the season leicester open(75 ish miles away) and ipswich drop down (not far either) it seems lynn may be moving up and their nearest rivals(peterboro) havent yet declared their intent to race.Brilliant.Not.An 8 team league, woopy doo.Who is gonna put the air fence up every week, how much extras is it going to cost us, does this mean no more TT, why is dooly going(at least we would have 1 reserve/second string), will we get a decent team and not be whipping boys again and can we send shovlar the wrong way when poo come to town!
  16. I wouldnt go as far as that, but the tail may be a bit long, especially away from home!
  17. Too right it does, bunch of back stabbing 2 faced narrow minded t0ssers .They can keep their "elite" league.Tarnished, corrupt bunch....and breath.Be about typical though, if peterboro dont run and ipswich in pl we still wouldnt get a local derby!
  18. Or his aussie cousin who lives in dorset ...... Sul,oh no hang on we had him a couple of years ago.
  19. Surely no worse than the rumour that ipswich have signed danny kings argentinian cousin juan!
  20. Yes, but a bumper speedway crowd is not as big as an average bank holiday stock car crowd, unfortunately
