This is great craic as we say here in Ireland!!! I'm going to have another 'go'.....if the 8th and 9th rider in qualifying heats have same points why shouldnt the rider who then goes into the semi but finishes in 4th not be rewarded??? He's gaining nothing at all over rider who finished in 9th in qualifiers. In other words why bother riding your backside off to reach semi if you gain nothing as some unfortunate soul has to finish last in semi and final too!! Aw wwell I'm off to the tt races in Isle of Man tomorrow

Surely a rider who reaches the semi's deserves at least a point when finishing 4th ...??? Otherwise he's only scored the same points as the qualifying heats being the same as riders who DIDN'T even qualify for the semi's. And should also be a deservedly earned reward for the rider finishing 4th in Final, as he's obviously ridden better than other riders to get there and then gains nowt!! This is the only thing I see wrong with the GP scoring system

Thats what we like to hear...getting some supporters returning (never mind how many years!) to Speedway. You won't regret the trip and only wish I could be there to see this. Ah well thank goodness for Sky and the early morning alarm!! Great video on Speedwaygp.com showing the packing of trunks with bikes and equipment to ship to NZ.....just proves the effort thats going into making this a success..Good Luck to all the Riders and put us on a Great show!!

Yes! yes! Now this IS what the sport needs...can't wait to see what 'Monsters' amazing plans are, and maybe an inclusion in a tv ad, now that would be promoting the sport. I have still to understand why this sport of ours cannot get a following from a wider audience but surely this might help. I may be looking at it through rose tinted specs (as no doubt plenty on here will tell me !!) being a supporter for 30+ yrs, but WHY??

Apologies MattK but I was actually meaning they give no mention of sponsoring sport or riders on their website...in other words only for knowing already who is sponsored by them we wouldnt know by visiting Monsters own website.?...

I agree that it would be nice for the sponsors to give "a plug" for their sponsorees. Have visited 'Monster' with no mention, but to give them the benefit of the doubt maybe they're waiting to have some footage to show later in the year with their logo present.

I'll be lounging on the sofa in me fleece pjs for this!!! cup of tea in hand or maybe a can of 'M' Must admit really looking forward to my 1st fix of speedway in 2012 on 31 march, albeit on tv but thats a pitfall of not living in a speedway nation here in Irish rep...unless I hear a good weather forecast and make it over to Shane Parker meet at Sheffield on the 18th .. the inaugural gp from NZ hope its a success for BSI and the competition in general.

Can't honestly say how 'Monster' involvement in Speedway will improve the amount of spectators attending meets etc but I was just glad that at least we now have a sponsor that we've actually heard of instead of a polish/danish etc company that not everyone could recognise. Cannot understand how Speedway couldnt get sponsorship from Castrol/Rock Oil etc as surely they supply riders and it would be nice to see them sponsoring some event...even if only a heat in EL/PL fixture now and again!!

Great to see Monster Energy giving their sponsorship backing to Speedway.....guessed this was coming c/o Greg Hancock but now its confirmed :) Can only do the sport justice rather than products we've not really heard of. Looking forward to a few free cans outside the Millennium Stadium this year

It may be that my brains cells are playing tricks on me but hasn't Cricket often been on in Cardiff on Gp day? I can defo remember seeing Ian Botham on tv at the gp think it may have been the first year 2001, when Cricket was being played there. Must say he was impressed by the track being laid in the Millennium Stadium though.

I'm glad to see Bomber, Freddie and Nicki getting a permanent wild card picks for 2012. Sensible decision I think as all the riders seem to have had trouble getting used to the new silencers/and the different way the machine performs and this at least gives them chance to have another try but think only for the 1 extra year!........if they don't "up their form" and get into their stride in 2012 they souldn't be picked again for 2013. Obviously then let some other rider have a go as it seems to be quite hard to get into the Gps otherwise.

Hi, I think the guy you're thinking of is Stuart Cosgrove....he was going to apply for p/permission in 2009. There was a demo of speedway (albeit in fairly deep sand at the RDS)..I know i was there! with Stuart Robson and Ben Barker) but nothing seen in the press since.

Of course Speedway wins in that choice........If I wanted to fall asleep for the day I'd stay at home in bed

You are as ever "on the ball"..Thankyou as always. I will be watching the draw this lunchtime on GP website. Hopefully Bomber can do his usual 'bounce back, never say die and get in a good result'..he needs good results from now on if he's any hope Give us a RACERS track please....you are killing our sport with these 'first away from gate' tracks!! No good for tv viewing either even for us diehards its getting a bit much now.
