  1. Seems that most folks perception of a speedway race is just look at the 1st placed rider:( but there are another 3 riders there and often those positions are changing throughout the race...or at least for longer than just to the first turn. However most coverage always seems to concentrate on the rider infront and not the action thats behind. As was quoted in earlier post theres no such thing as bad publicity, and after all my years of following speedway I'm quite used these types of comments "1st from tapes wins" and I always put em right "watch the other 3 riders"!!
  2. Mr P.R.....Have you been doing some extra PR and got this great sport some more airtime? Go on tell us all. Tai's winning the WC needs to be built upon, the season is now over and what bit of publicity he's gotten so far (not enough in my opinion) will soon die down and it needs to be BUILT upon NOW!! I think Eurosports coverage has been brill so far and hope for even more in 2014 and should they do a year review of all sports or of 2 wheeled variety that they include Tai in their presentations. We dont want Speedway to be treat any better/different to all the other British winners this year, just to get a fair share of the whip.
  3. 2 weeks on ... Wonder is all of the above planned again for this weekend..or has speedway 'missed the boat' /tv slot?? Think Tai deserves the title and the exposure, should he get it!! Most anticipated weekend in a long time, keep your wits about you Tai (look at the finish we got in the European lastnight!!)
  4. Great to hear Tai will be getting the coverage he deserves...great interview. Re; comment by promoter unfortunately shows why speedways in the state its in in UK at this moment in time. Hopefully if Tai can win WC it can spur movements from within the ranks. Come on Tai!!
  5. ........apparently that never happened I heard However Andy Jaye has a small piece on Eurosport today at 12.45 and again 5.45 just before the GP....bit of an interview
  6. http://emilracing.com/index.php?op=str,18,0,0,131&j=EN&akt_tytul=Emil ......sounds like he'll be back for the final GP in Torun, but still no mention of what exactly his injuries are
  7. Staying safe is a MAJOR issue with this sport of ours, guest rides, riding every day of the week in multiple countries, but I do wish Tai all the best. Wish I'd put a few bob on him now ..hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!
  8. So Emil not taking part this weekend.....no real surprise there .. but I'm almost afraid to say his crash reminded me of Ian Hutchinsons crash in 2010 ( see at end of film "Closer to the Edge", ) and its only this coming monday 9th sept 2013 that he's finally getting the external fixator taken off his lower leg. He was ridden over by another rider too ..... and I feel for poor Emil with his injury. Could be a long spell out.
  9. IF Emil rides in Slovenia this saturday, that man will deserve BIG praise and he must be made of RUBBER!!! All this speculation is keeping him in the news anyway....not that we're likely to forget such an exciting rider in a hurry! RED BULL gives you wiiinnnngggggsssss!!
  10. Absolutely loved watching "the Screen Machine" with tassles on leathers and his legtrailing flying around the boards at Odsal with the Dukes......maybe there'll be an opening for Joe there if Tony Mole manages to resurrect the Dukes!! (hopefully!!) in a behind the boards capacity. Enjoy your retirement Joe
  11. R.I.P to the legend that was Tony Millard!! , the man who enhanced speedways tv coverage just like Dave Lanning did. Fond memories of Havvy and Rampala race at poole in World Cup and many more besides.
  12. Congrats to Tai on his performances so far...keep it going. Must admit I'm one of the doubters on here but Ive just had a slice of humble pie for breakfast , me thinks I better get used to it!
  13. They seemed to be wearing much more sensible footwear!!
  14. Wouldn't that mean preparing a racing track not a gating track....or making all riders bike identical which they are not! ....LOVE this sport to bits but its not racing anymore, gates/gating make a difference to who wins and usually within the 1st/2nd bend. Until this changes no new supporters!. Ive recently been from Ireland to Somerset with newbies with me on a DAY trip....(500miles and sea crossing) and the one outstanding comment was "the racing NEEDS to be close"!! Well Done Poland though on doing something that Denmark would have also done had they the opportunity, (but it should be scrapped)
  15. Whilst we all appreciate (hopefully!) the coverage Speedway gets, in comparison to none at all. I think the tv coverage does go on too long. I liked Eurosports new guy with Scott on the Cardiff gp set who i think added a new slant, as he seemed to be conveying what a "new viewer/live guest in Cardiff" might be experiencing eg, "its so loud" " wow the atmosphere is brilliant" etc.....and this can only help other "newbies" want to take a peep at this GREAT sport of ours!. I think there is no need for the filler fella!! as in he's only going over what we've just seen in the prev 4 heats. Then again I cannot think of what they could do instead. I think if Sky do keep the League racing they should try and show a good mix of EL and PL meetings as the EL is not necesserily where the best racing is anymore. Maybe if they had more choices of where meetings are they could avoid the rainoffs a bit more......head to the sun fellas!!
  16. Would love to attend this.....must take a peep at the, overnight offers from Irish Ferries.Sail into Holyhead lunchtime, evening at this and home again morning after. Perfect birthday pressie!! ( to me from me! ) Ive got withdrawal symptoms after Cardiff
  17. You beat me to it!! seetickets had tickets up for couple of seconds...then it went off saying no date available and now its announced! bit of a boo boo on their part. Well off to buy tickets now!!
  18. You must look more honest than the rest of us!! We've always been stopped and airhorns taken of us. Started buying the RIGHT ones now
  19. I hope the programmes have "the draw" insert in this years programme....mine was missing last year.
  20. Just noticed these available if anyone still wanting accomm for June 1st .....rooms available at same hotels for the friday night also. Very easy to drive to from Cardiff City centre if anyone is heading back into England but they don't want to drive all the way home http://www3.hilton.com/en_US/hi/search/findhotels/results.htm?view=LIST
  21. Odsal..racers like Loram, PC, Tony R and the Legend that was Gary Petersen.
  22. I reckon t'would have been even better if he'd have made page 3!!! "knocked" the boobs off for a week
  23. Being of the "fairer sex" I did manage to take a peep at AR in the sun today. He's had such bad luck and now surely deserves some good luck. Makes a nice change to see a speedway story in the paper and still after all his injuries he still wants to ride Speedway!! Reading about a poor footy player 'sore ankle' etc throughout the years really deserves no headlines after what this poor lads been through. Wishing him success
  24. Some people prefer to buy tickets ahead of the day and have full choice of area and rows they wish to be seated at. Cannot blame people for that. I always used to order before the day and for past two years I have bought on the day...however I have found there are not always tickets in all areas available. Then when got into the stadium have found I could have sat where I wanted, as plenty seats free!! These are probaly bock booked c/o clubs and then gone unsold??...not been available on computer at stadium shop on the day.
