  1. Was just wondering ( sorry if I missed thread on this already!) but is fridays practise open to the public again this year? haven't read anything about it on Gp website and need to know as need to get to cardiff a day earlier if we are allowed in again!! Only 45 more sleeps!! whoop
  2. Memories where do I start!!... Queuing to get through turnstiles at Odsal every wednesday night.....tears if it was a wet day and cancellation!! Being able to stand directly behind the fence and feel the "shudder" as the riders went by....while catch the dirt on our coat when bent down, and ahhhhhhhhh that smell and grunt of the engines Floodlights standards every so many feet around the full length of track...(can't recall which rider lost control and struck his head on the said lights) Sid and Mick Sheldricks white and blue vests "flapping in the turbulence" as they sped around the Odsal bowl, and the sad night when Sid did serious damage to his hip (I think!) when exiting the final bend where it used to narrow inwards....caught many a rider out that did!!. This was when the Odsal start tapes were on the same straight as the clubhouse, when the stadium had 2 stands...more modern era it was at opposite straight as no stand at other side after the modernizations 1985:rolleyes: Racing up behind the stand from the pips chasing Steve Wilcock in his hunter(car) to get his autograph!...again!! ..Finally the best one....running to the very primative loos and it was only when the cubicle door hit you on the forehead that you knew some lady was in the loo before you.....NO LIGHTS!
  3. Add my Thanks to DW for the racecard ...adds to the enjoyment of the meeting....yes us speedway fans love the programmes, stats etc!!
  4. What brilliant coverage lastnight.....good on yer havvy for saying Ole wasn't missed!!!. Felt optimistic attitude all through the coverage in the studio. Great track=Great RACING........only hope Tonys prep of "once-off" track for Gothenburg will turn out just as good..Roll on May 8th.!!
  5. Much appreciated DW for the racecard...helps every year to enjoy the meeting even more. Its up to you now lads....give us a meeting with plenty of RACING!! Can't wait.
  6. Yes agree Pathe is a great website to watch old film of our beloved sport.....take a look at clip Eastbourne Eagles Trevor Geer and I think Barney Kennett? Also some more experts on here may be able to name more on the clip. lets see how many more can be named. Oh! and those masks!!! http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=74189
  7. Well Done Jason!! ......and even better Well Done Mark Webber!!! Was amazed to hear Speedway mentioned on F1/BBC ...Well done that man and heres to many more moments of publicity albeit via Aussies Gunna have a RED BULL now! Roll on 2010
  8. Maybe DW is busy this weekend but he will come good for us and get one online before the tapes go up!!! Many Thanks DW for all your efforts during 2009 don't leave us down for the final GP See you in 2010...REALLY looking forward to this Gp, pity its the last though.Come on Crumpie!!!
  9. I knew you wouldn't let us down DW! .. Thanks as always for racecard even though you'd been busy.....hope this meeting is worth watchin. Hope Crumpie manages to take part in the meeting, didn't sound too good when he pulled out of practise. (mind you Scotty doesn't bother with practise anymore)and once OO knows the draw he'll doctor the track anyway from practise to meeting!!. aarrrrggghhhh!! Oh for a RACETRACK with RACING instead of GATING ....that does nothing for the future of the sport.
  10. Had a look for the rececard earlier myself ...usually a job well done by danish webmaster. Bit late this time, found myself wondering had I got my dates mixed up and that maybe no GP on this weekend. Hope he has one up soon...its what adds fun to the borefest that the Gp's are this year. Sorry to keep complaining but only stating the truth.
  11. If they don't start providing a RACING track we won't have a sport to either sponsor or televise!!.....maybe all riders could start tightening sprocket, clutch etc before the race to get their sponsors name seen before the race ( as 'Grin' and Gollob seems to have perfected!!), as surely their leathers/kevs are wiped off between races!! and can't the track staff tear off a banner trackside each time they become unreadable. Doesn't seem to be too much to ask and all so WE as supporters of this great sport could have some RACING to actually watch!!
  12. Hope Sky not going to 'pull the plug' on Speedway....my only chance of seeing any.! I do attend the Gp in Cardiff every year so far and a few meetings at Sheffield and Newport when I can, so because I am speedway starved as regards LIVE meetings I'm grateful to Sky for what they do for the sport....pity the sport or rather the organisers of the sport cannot seem to provide a fair racing track for racers who wanna race!!.. Not GATE and be in front all the four laps. BORING! and not good for the sport. They are actually cutting their noses off to spite their faces!! NO dirt, no passing, no passing, boring racing, boring racing== NO SUPPORTERS!! End of.
  13. Thanks as always DW for the racecard....was in Wales last weekend for the meeting at Newport (for what it was worth!!) and shall tonight get a bottle of wine and a packet of crisps and watch my recording of the GP and mark up the programme.....sad I know but very enjoyable and helps me "think I'm there!!" even though its already happened!!.Speedway fans ARE a different breed don't ya think? hhahaahaha
  14. Thanks as always for your racecard...adds a bit of something to watching on tv if you can imagine you're there by filling in programme....how sad are we!! Hope the weather clears over there. These rain soddened GP's are becoming a habit.Could do with a race meeting instead of a I'll follow you around type meeting.
  15. On trying to read Danish news through 'google translator' I gather he's trying Australia again 2011/2012 and adding NZ and Malaysia. Torun is added for 2010 new roofed stadium.
  16. Pity bout the sky red button for the final hour of this event...could be a beauty too..........riders fav ref!!
  17. Tennis!! What tennis is more important than seeing the end of the meeting and who has won it?? Where's my remote and the red button then.....by the way danishwebmaster are you doing a racecard for the Gp tomorrow night I LUV IT and thanks again for the racecards up to now.
  18. I remembered that...Yes found Backtrack mag issue 24 Jan/Feb 2008 page 11 quote " wishes to revolutionise the sport by having different type of track surface maybe a permanent synthetic surface which would eliminate dust and no need then to water the track........heheeee he back to the recipe for slickness is he??? Must read the full article tonight.
  19. I doubt anyone on here would have predicted GB being in 2nd place in the meeting with only 3 heats to go. Think I was one of them!! Got carried away with how well it looked to be going for GB...I get to see so little LIVE Speedway these days Sky tv is my best mate!! Wonder will the Irish Track ever surface (pun not intended!)?
  20. Rob Lyon tried and risked something NEW..which was great to see instead of sticking with the same old faces!.. who basically were not showing ANY form coming into timing of WC team selection eg Scott!!!. I am a fan by the way of Scott but not to the detriment of GB by putting him as usual when a rider who would score more points would be left out. Rob Lyon showed good communication with his team lastnight, effective but not overpowering....unlike someone else who's been mentioned.
  21. Give Rob Lyon a chance...Rome was NOT built in a day. Why Rosco wat he got that Rob Lyon doesn't have then??
  22. What a bummer!!! I'll be shouting for the poles on saturday and yes Nige.. I agree the lads did GB proud...Well Done Great meeting.
  23. If bomber gets the lead will denmark help us by keeping Lindback behind???
