  1. Enjoy your retirement at the end of 2017 Mr Tony Mole...what a gent!! He rescued so many tracks but alas my beloved track at Bradford eluded him despite his best efforts and for this I hope them BULLs rot in hell. Rant Over
  2. I think that's the latest it's ever been.... Does that mean World Cup dates are going to be earlier than usual, maybe start of July? ( Last GP before Cardiff 24 June)
  3. I was under the opinion Nige was Tai's PR .... However he doesn't do such a brill job....where is the publicity regarding the handing over of the GOSH fundraiser money?...or maybe Tai didn't get any publicity for it, the norm with this sport we all love:)
  4. agree P but.....maybe if Monster are rethinking their role within the series maybe there might not be as much funding going abegging and SGP might need to find cheaper stadia?? I hope the Cardiff contract will be renewed as it nice to travel from Ireland (for me, and elsewhere for other fans) and know that the meeting WILL take place. It does seem to me that people around Cardiff are totally unaware the Gp is on!!! surely free pairs of tickets could be given to coffee shops, cafes and shops around Cardiff for the employers to give to employees or customers and if only 1% of them take a punt and attend this could glean new supporters....with an added fuller looking stadim on tv. One cafe was actually running low on milk after the influx of fans this year.....they couldnt understand where all the people were coming from!! for an event to be in its 16th year in Cardiff it says a lot for the promotion of event dont you think? Banners up flag poles are probably full most weeks advertising rugby etc etc the business premises NEED TO BE TOLD...
  5. As we await news of the Principality Stadium speedway gp contract being renewed and therefore next years gp date....I came across this somewhat disturbing news, maybe the two are connected as Monsters sponsorship of series ends this year too... http://www.methanolpress.com/speedway-grand-prix-strategy-questioned-by-monster-energy-ahead-of-sponsorship-negotiations/
  6. Can't see any of these ideas being accepted by everyone but i for one would love a second days racing after making the effort to get to Cardiff for the Gps.....We've attended every British Gp since it started in '01. Despite having to get holidays and travel 6hrs by roads and 3 hrs by ferry from Ireland I think a meeting before the Gp on the friday would get the track into racing order and up to speed!! (excuse the pun). How many years has the racing been improving heat by heat in the gp for it to be over just as it was getting awesome? imagine if they held the British Final on the friday as the track would obviously be neutral for the british boys and they'd all be there to gain from the Cardiff/ Big crowd experience. The track then on the saturday would be ready from the 'off' and hopefully provide great racing from the start of Gp and not at the end!! ( so long as it gets no major tinkering!!) ...as these two meetings are run by BSPA and BSI/IMG I can't see this being a runner but stranger things have happened in the years Ive been watching this GREAT sport. Just another comment......I am always amazed by how many people in the cafes/ shops etc and people on the streets are UNAWARE that Speedway is on that weekend....How hard could it be for the organisers to give each cafe/pub/restaurant a pair of cheap tickets for the gp (up in the Gods!!) to use as they wish..if the business owner choices to either give to a customer or member of staff surely working on the law of averages somebody MIGHT attend (cause its a freebie) and this in turn would fill the stadium a bit more and might even return the year after.
  7. Assume that we won't be hearing 2017 date announced soon ..... Still talking 👏👏
  8. Any news of Speedway GP return for next year?? Just wondering as the latest 5 year deal was running from 2012, this year is final year.... Has a new deal been signed for next year onwards?? Maybe with the renaming of stadium it might affect how the stadium is being used:(
  9. If you check online with both see tickets and ticketmaster they all seem to be selling different areas and i found on one year (when we didnt know how many of us were going, and we bought on the day in Ticket Office) that we ended up buying £37+ tickets as no cheaper were available. Also if you are buying at a late stage tell them you want to collect on the day (in office stated earlier) as post might not get them to you intime
  10. ......Go on GO you know you wanna!!! Yes tickets are usually available at the tickets office situated to the left ( as youre looking at stadium!) of the main entrance to stadium ....have found a couple of times that they dont have any of the cheapest tickets there so be prepared. Just bought mine today, Whoop Dont know why people are put off by the fanzone being moved....its just across the way from the Hilton Hotel by the City Hall.....I often walk further to get the cows in the morning
  11. ah guys come on! how much effort does it take to revel in the festivities and get in the mood..........its a wonder how you get down the M4!! lol. Its still in the city centre just in a different direction. You can also maybe go into Museum and get a bit of an education. I always found when it was on the main shopping area it was awkward for usual saturday visitors to get in and out of shops but no doubt their businesses picked up a bit....esp fish and chip shop. Last yr and prev year possibly caused upset to transport links as buses had to be diverted into station. Use it or lose it.....would be nice to se the Magoos though
  12. Visit speedwaygp.com guys....fanzone sounds a bit better for this year!! ......roll on July 9th
  13. Cardiff is a lovely city to visit and especially so when theres SpeedwayGP on!! Plenty of food establishments and places to see.....like 2ndBender I can defo recommend the Bay area, buses from outside Cardiff Castle gates but opposite side of the road or you can take the more expensive but more informed http://www.city-sightseeing.com/tours/united-kingdom/cardiff.htm as you will have a commentary on the citys history....on a fine day its lovely down in the bay and I would say get yourselves on the 'rib' and go for a 15min blast around the bay!! visit http://cardiffseasafaris.co.uk/the-trips/ it will be the best £7 you will spend that weekend!! Enjoy your 1st trip to Cardiff and might see you at both meetings...we'll be Irish gang on the 2nd bend at the Oak Tree Arena on the friday:)
  14. Yes Phil I can vouch for the fact that it was scarily silent and non atmospheric at last yrs gp, I know its for the speedway we pay our money but there was nothing to get the crowd involved, songs to sway to with fellow supporters behind or mexican wave or even the 'bongos' where the camera panns through the crowd trying to play the virtual bongos. It all adds to the experience...I had 5 newbies there with us and theyre going again this year so please sort out some music Phil
  15. Looks like no musical interlude at the gp....hope for all our sakes that theres more music played between heats etc to get the crowd involved. Bit of a lull last yr. Really looking forward to this
  16. Pairs meeting new start time 7pm instead of 730. (as per Twitter)
  17. video of the secret meeting now on speedwaygp website 😁😁😁😜😜
  18. Almost make you look forward to a tape breaking offence to get one of the lads in a race!!! Excluding Tai and Bombers races obviously lol
  19. Crazysue just let your love of Speedway help you through this and book those tickets!! Enjoy the day and yes I've seen the stadium staff helping disabled, unsteady folk and elderly people. One year a poor woman walked up the flight of steps to her seat and then obv got a case of fear at heights and a steward had to help and escort her slowly back down from the seat ,step by step one by one which was done in a very gentle manner
  20. having read the article on Terraplas it states can be used for ice conversion too.........maybe Cardif could hold an Ice Speedway Meeting lol
  21. Maybe the storeholders have some kind of complaint about the fans milling around outside their shops at St M st.....I thought last year BSI were "having talks" with a possible return to old position of St Marys St for this year but obv it wasnt successful. My opinion is that the 'new' site for fanzone does NOT work.
  22. Hey PhilipRising.. I appreciate that BSI must work within the perimeters of what the council says but..........whats changed from previous years when it was allowed on St Marys St?? that situ was perfect as it was a pedestrianised street all the time whereas Wood st traffic has to be detoured around other streets to get into station on Gp day. . I was there a fortnight ago and there is construction work along that street as so its going to be diabolical. Plus unless you can get by the barriers you have no chance at all of seeing anything thats going on. Lets hope the stadium has a bit more atmosphere too compared to last yr as there was no music between races etc to get the crowd involved. I know we pay for the speedway but everything adds to the experience. I feel the past few years have been a bit of a let down Come back Tony Christie all is forgiven
  23. Would imagine the engine start time to be 5pm as it has been for few years now. (entry to stadium at 3pm) seems to suit most people as give chance to get home should prices be out of your bracket for staying overnight. I hope the Fanzone is back to its 'usual' position this year as was a total flop last year by the railway station A bit more music from whatever source would be nice too before the meeting and during the races etc as the 'bongos' got the crowd involved couple years back and last year the place died a bit with lack of involvement.Makes the meeting for me, does a bit of dancing and swaying to the music with people around us rather than sat still with nothing happening.
  24. Could any regular Somerset fans please advise on the parking situation at OTA? Only been a few times to this track and have managed to fit in their field (!) should a maaaaoooooosive crowd arrive from Edinburgh for this is there plenty room there? I'm slightly worried about the weather forecast... I'll be getting the ferry over from ireland for this and would love to see racing. Thanks
  25. Darcy obviously doesnt take what he does on the track seriously if he would jeopardise himslef and others while racing. Even everyones favourite (!!!) Nicki P admitted on Fifth Gear when he was trying to teach Vicki Butler-Henderson to ride that he hadnt had a drink since New Years Day so obviously he takes his sport seriously. Agree there needs to be a ban and maybe just maybe he will learn from this.
