I'd suggest two reasons for the new setup. 1. A north/south split probably wouldn't work. The club's could possibly be split geographically but I very much doubt riders could, rendering the idea pointless. 2. I'd guess the idea is to let riders have two teams therefore double the fixtures. More rides the better at that level?
