  1. Berwick track has improved no end. Slag edinburgh all you want but speak to any rider and see what they say about a Doc Bridget prepared circuit
  2. Too many interested in self preservation in the elite league. I love visiting Leicester as a Edinburgh fan. Great venue, great bar, lovely people glad still too have you in the premier league
  3. There are too many promoters with their own selfish interests at heart. I think their are certain elite league promoters who love that sky cheque hitting their bank accounts each year, and will do anything to preserve that way of life, not enough of that money, publicity or tv coverage filter down. The conferences never make the changes the fans want. We don't do enough to sell our sport to the next generation and I feel sorry for promoters, it's a thankless job. You can't see it as a business to make money from, it's an expensive sideline. We need a governing body independent from promoters making the rules. Too many promoters are selfish and unrealistic!
  4. A forum is a debate, not everyone is going to agree but surely every fan is entitled to an opinion. Not everyone is going to agree but hey that's life. I think all the northern clubs have had to make changes, listen to their fans and make changes.
  5. I could not agree more. Theo was a great third heat leader. Always did his job! Deserves a place in 2013. Can't see past him. Cookie, tabaka, theo and Derek. Those 4 plus 3 for me
  6. No rider will ever be bigger than Glasgow Tigers. It's a shame when riders bite the hand that feeds them, but that's a fundemental issue in British speedway clubs have no real power, riders can really do as they please. I think you take a chance bringing in young Aussies you get some gems like josh, who ride their heart out for the club and maintain a great relationship with fans and club even when they depart and then there are others who do the opposite. Listen i understand if mason wanted to leave but there are ways of doing it, and he has shown total disdain for Glasgow speedway in my book. Bring on the scottish derbies! As a monarchs fan the two clubs are bigger than any riders!
  7. I can't stand on here when someone puts forward an opinion and is called a 'fanny' for it. I am all for debate, but I can't stand some of the name calling on here! I am a regular at Andersons shop their pies are magic. Steak pies best honestly I have ever had! Amazing! Berwick is a great set up. Northern teams all need each other!
  8. Couple of points. 1. Your post is neither clever, constructive of funny. This is a forum and I take exception to being labelled a fanny by you. 2. The stupid wee smiley icon doesn't make your post light hearted either I actually find it quite offensive. And if you really are looking for forum fannys why not just look at the reflection on your computer screen.....
  9. Berwick is a lovely town. Great racing track, great pr from owners, best burgers ever! I love my trips to Berwick. How about tie ups with local B and B s to encourage more visiting speedway fans! I think if you can just get the product out there the Berwick experience sells itself. Very family friendly. My only gripe and annoyance dick Barrie. But honestly think the Andersons are great! Butchers in north Berwick is magic!

  11. Derek back is a must, local lad, loyal and reliable. Not expensive and a team man. Dyer is an unsettling presence and we need a team who have strong bonds, good team spirit always serves us well I feel. 1.cook 2.deek 3.theo. 4. 5. 6.helfer 7.tabaka I think you fill in the two blanks. I don't want a team that will bankrupt the club. So basis there is decent so add two more to that and think it may be about right
  12. Listen I am not doubting Dick Barrie's knowledge. I mean I recall the guy raving about Chris Holder a year before he came to the UK. The man is not daft. I am just saying it puts me off when he's on the mic. The Andersons have modernised so much at Berwick, great owners, but the centre green p/a is archaic. It's not fresh, or modern. Scott Wilson came to Edinburgh as a local dj knowing nothing of the sport. His approach was refreshing!
  13. I think screm his jokes are out of date and hearing that would put people off. Having him on the mic to me would make a lot of young ones or first time attendees cringe. I honestly think the man annoys more than he entertains
  14. I love the experience I had at Berwick last year. They have done a great job. The one thing that continues to annoy me and has for the last 20 odd years of going there is Dick Barrie. He talks drivel and irritates all and sundray! His column is the programme is ridiculous, not funny in any way. Ask my old man who had gone to matches since the 60s wanna come to Berwick answer is always no I hate dick Barrie. He is out of date, out of touch with the younger generation and plainly annoying. He is so cringy. The Andersons have done brilliant, the only thing is dislike is being subjected to Barrie in my ear for 2 hours and on paper in my programme
  15. Relief is an understatement. Signing Tabaka is a double bonus. Get cookie signed and it will make my year!
  16. Personally I don't care what our teams like. I will go regardless. I'd rather have a team than not!
  17. That in fact is not what the jist of the forum is. If you want to start petty arguments and squabbles go and do it elsewhere. My points were: 1. PL racing is decent with lots of riders plying their trade in both leagues. There are as many fans following PL teams as there are EL so your post is a bit stupid. A speedway fan is a speedway fan. 2. PL deserves a highlights package. I am not talking live matches but highlights to showcases best league can offer and maybe attract new fans to their local clubs, or bring old ones back. 3. Surely sky's PL coverage should not just consist of 2 matches a season
  18. For me Richard Lawson looks better and better every time I see the lad. Big things ahead for him, he will develop further next year. Each year is a another season under his belt
  19. Hopefully. I also hope we can maybe get further down the Ingilston road for 2014. I think if we all rally around for 2013 and have a future back in Edinburgh for 2014 a real future. Although I would settle for 2013 just now, but I hope the club can get a long term future sorted.
  20. I think PL offers a range of tracks, teams and fixtures. Great racing and some riders are heat leaders in both leagues. There are more PL fans as there are more PL teams. Are you telling me there is not an audience out there. Sky and the EL get boring, same teams boring.
  21. Kevin Doolan would be great for any team. Still a top performer. In demand this winter
  22. All you can do! I have to be an optimist I support Hearts FC too. Can't see my too teams cease to exist!
  23. I don't think anyone can dispute the good that Sky TV has brought to British Elite League Speedway, however it's kind of frustrating for me that we only get a once in a blue moon PL match on sky. We as PL fans are being left behind, money wise with the EL clubs and exposure wise to new audiences who may tune in. Why can't sky run a highlights package from PL matches on say a weekly basis. I mean most matches are filmed. If sky won't is there anything stopping the PL from approaching say BBC, ESPN, Channel 5 etc to do this. I think if people saw more of what our league offered it may put more bums in seats so to speak. I think our league is marketed extremely poorly. We are not selling what at times is a really strong product to a wide enough audience. I get sick at times when the commentators on Sky at times talk about our league like its vastly inferior. Riders who double up on a part time basis in EL are only ever credited as Riders of their EL clubs, and well maybe that's me being a tad picky but hey. I just feel our League is being left way behind, I can watch British ice hockey, touring cars, road racing on tv on a weekly basis. Why can't I watch PL speedway?
