With the demise of Bournmouth Jay Herne could be available also Brundle,Baseby.of the first two either could make a top No.1. If Mildenhall run i would expect Joe Jacobs may want to return there, he is very good around that track. But i dont expect any news till after the AGM...

Good luck next season i am sure you will assemble an atractive side at Stoke next year Malcolm,,look forward to meeting up for a chat at Stoke and Rye..

If the national league goes,?? it will be through lack of support through the turnstyles.people go on about bringing on british youngsters but how many support them in this league.? Not enough for sure.. And the BSPA seem not to be bothered about it..The National league is at the crossroads and could be the thin end of the wedge for British speedway...

Only British Riders From 2011 + Weymouth News.
waco replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in National League Speedway
I would agree with all that..I would just like to see those riders with patrality coming in on an average that is a true representation of their ability and not way below it,, as has been the case in the past -
Who will win this meeting on paper i would guess Bournmouth look very strong ..But on the day anything can happen.Whats your view??
-
Most of the young riders have improved this season.I believe the following will progress to the premier league in the next two seasons some have already..Marc Owen .Kyle Howorth .Ashley Morris . Ben Morley .Jake Knight.Shane Hazelden. Nick Morris .Rob Branford .James Sargent .Jason Garrity of the 16yr olds ..Plus Joe Jacobs .Ashley Birks .The Worrel Bros .Tom Young ,Jaimie Pickard .Tom Perry .Paul Stark .Oliver Rayson..John Resch .Kyle Newman...It doesent look to bad for the future does it ,all these are improving and i may have missed more than one or two out..apologese to them...Have not included those young riders who have firmly established them selves in the premier and are slightly older..

I make you right..and a sensible date for the cut off would have been the end of sept..With the whole of Oct for the play offs..
-
Have you never heard of rain offs ??? And fixture congestion when a track is running two teams ??
-
The Rye House Cobras have played all their aces this week but have been done over by the national league Organizing ? Jokers !!
-
Maybe there was i wouldnt know ..I do know it was a freezing cold night and the GP looked like being decided on the box.. The match was also after the cut off date for the play offs..So the result was not as important as it could have been, had the league administrater not cocked it up again..How much longer do we have to put up with rediculous decisions from those in charge of running this league..Rant over..It was a meeting well worth watching though...
-
It was very cold but a good meeting to round off the Cobras league season..With some excellent passes notably by Kyle Hughes who once he sorted his set up after his first ride went through the meeting unbeaten..Backed by solid scoring from Joe jacobs 13+1 from 6..Ben Morley 9+3 from 5..Lee Strudwick 8 from 5..Guest Jake Knight 6 + 1 from 4 and Shane Hazelden who had to move up into the main body of the team tonight 4+2.. For me the highlight of the match was watching first Ben Morley then 2 heats later Joe Jacobs both executing fine passes to beat Seemond Stevens...Plymouth were virtually a 3 man team but put on a good show..NEXT SAT is the 4s final should be an excellent meeting....
-
Just got home from the meeting what a result .Ok they were without James Brundle. But the Cobras have been without Jaimie Smith for ages..though Joe Jacobs has come in and is doing a fine job.. No Kyle Hughes..No Marc Owen ..But our guests did excellantly Thanks Darren and Jake..Good solid score from Lee Strudwick and 16 yr old Ben Morley has come back from a broke ankle in scintilating form getting the vital 5-1 in heat 14 with Joe Jacobs and then keeping Mark Baseby at the back to secure the win with Lee Strudwick in heat 15..I havent enjoyed an away match as much as this for along time....
-
I have also heard that no aussies allowed in the national league next year..? Perhaps Malcolm or Jane can tell us the situation ..? I would also advocate a reduction in the points limit.....To many british lads have lost team places to big hitters of obvious premier league standard this season..
-
More cruel luck for Marc Owen broken ankle i believe. His great progress this season blighted by yet another bad injury..Im sure every one wishes Marc a speedy recovery...On a better note Ben Morley returned from a broken ankle and looked very sharp ..unlucky not to score more after a dodgy refereeing decision in heat 11..Kyle Hughes was imaculate scoring an unbeaten 15 ..the rest of the team will have better nights but take nothing away from Newport they were solid right through the team and deserved their victory ..I was particularly impressed with Tom Young who has improved enormously this season
-
Anyone know the result of this meeting + scores if you have them.Thanks..

Cobras V I.o.w Mon 30th Dh 2pm So Approx 4pm
waco replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Thanks for the updates..It was a closely fought match up to heat 9 with the visitors 2points ahead at that time..But a 5-1 from Hughes and Jacobs in heat10 saw the Cobras start to pull steadily away..Another strength in depth performance as on sat, saw the team home for all 3 points keeping alive their hopes of a play off spot..Dean Felton and Paul Stark were the pick of the visitors -
Good meeting with incidents and some great passes..Cobras had strength in depth tonight except for the unlucky Tom Stokes who tried really hard before a hand injury put him out of the meeting..Marc and Joe did well on their comebacks and Lee was back on form..Barry Evans was an excellent guest .and David and Shane chipped in with more than usefull points...For the visitors Buzz Burrows was his usuall entertaining self, backed by Steven Worrel and Ashly Birks...Mondays match will be tougher,,on paper at least, the I.O.W have been in good form lately....
-
With a comfortable win over Scunny on sat the Cobras will be in confident mood when they take on the Isle of wight ..Good comeback perfomances from Marc and Joe..Lee back to his best..though i believe the I.O.W will provide tough opposition as they have been in fine form lately...Could be a close match..but on sats form i would expect the Cobras to prevail..
-
Nothing on the rye web site which is seldom up to date anyway ,,but Hughes is Cobras no1 and i am sure they will have a guest..who ?? no one knows yet...
-
I dont know for sure but it could be the 1st time round Rye for some of these lads..weather looks ok lets hope we have a good meeting...Maybe you could let us know the debutants ??
-
Appologise for repeating this thread City Rebel it appears we posted within two minutes of each other and i cant see how it could be deleated i have tried to.
-
The Cobras will be hopeing for the return of Joe Jacobs and possibly Marc Owen for this crucial match which is a must win,,if they are going to have a chance of making the play offs...With Jaimie Smith and Ben Morley still sidelined it wont be easy..Any one know the Scunthorpe Saints line up for this meeting which is FREE ENTRY to everyone.....
-
It is even worse than that you can add Jaimie Smith (knee) and Ben Morley (broken ankle) to that list..
-
Good win for the Heathens .But this Cobras side has been decimated by injurys and i fear without the return of key riders we will struggle to make the play offs... Ive no doubt the riders all did their best on the night but in all honesty we never had a chance of winning...
