  1. Boss man you should never be embarressed to offer a rider any support however small you may think it is. All riders are extremely gratefull of any financial assistance... In the national league in particular with the very low pay rates most riders are struggling to make ends meet..so next time you feel so inclined take the bull by the horns ,, you will be surprised how grateful these young riders are..And i agree the atmosphere at meetings is important and that the cost does put people off.. That is a business decision by the promoters at all tracks,, that is the risk they take..Niether you or i can change that...
  2. Good post Ben the name is not important..This was a marriage of convenience ..Rye having difficulty trying to fit dates in and Lakeside needing to pad out there fixtures.. the Hawks name is purely nostalgic to some people and means little to others but if it works financially for both tracks it has to be a good thing....

  4. Boss man im sure you are a keen speedway fan and i dont recolect you having a go about any riders, nor have i ever said so .. I totally agree that prices at Rye are dearer than other tracks ,and that students should get a reduction .. All im saying is, it is of no interest to other people that some are not going to a certain meeting..And the number of fans on here doing that is getting boring.. Support speedway and the riders when you can afford to,, nothing wrong in that and keep the posts coming..It is all about differing opinions and never needs to get personal in any way..
  5. This should be a good meeting,. Belle Vue have a decent side, and with mr entertainer Jason Garrity at reserve probably getting up to 7 rides expect fireworks..Hawks should line up as per last week at Lakeside...This is just my opinion and i know the admission prices at Rye are about the highest any where and everyone has a choice whether to attend or not,,,but do we all need to know ,if this one, or that one ,are not going.. No offence guys ,and im aware Shadders spends shed loads on away Rockets meetings. .But it gets a bit boring hearing this on a regular basis.. Can we have a few posts from fans who are going ,,after all there must be some well heeled fans out there that enjoy watching the youngsters progress ...
  6. No that was not a problem He was fine..and ready to ride again..
  7. Bit of both bandits with Ben ,,still got paid 9 though....It was more a case of the potters struggling with the track than us likeing it Shane,Marc and David maybe the exceptions to that.Conditions were such that having a go round the outside usually got a rider into problems costing points..Track knowledge was vital today..A track for the white liners...
  8. your right of course Shadders in the the world today,,results , money, are more important than peoples feelings. If i was a manager i may well have done the same,,though i like to think i would have thought hard about it...
  9. I see your point Shadders but was it worth the possible damage to a very young riders confidence..?
  10. Yes it was a comfortable Hawks win on a concrete dust bowl of a track..Most riders that took a gamble finished up on thier backsides eating dust Smooth throttle on the inside line was the only way...The Potters gave it a good go ,but most of the time it cost them points..This day was for the boys who know the track well..Marc Owen hardly made a gate all day but still found the line to get into good scoring positions in no time..Shane Hazelden is much improved already this season and scored a hatfull of points..David Mason was his usuall steady self and today it paid off handsomely.. Ben Morley would be the first to admit he was not at his best but still chipped in with paid 9 from 4..Barrie Evans gave all but paid the same price as some of the Potters for trying to hard on a terrible track ..Ben Hopwood was little unlucky to only score 5 Brandon Freemantle gave it good go ,a 5-1 with Shane in heat 2 ,was rewarded by being pulled out of his last ride ,which in my opinion was not necessary as the match was won.this does nothing to help a very young rookie build confidence..This lad will come good if given some positive encouragement..Well done all the boys, most, if not all ,like me will be glad to get back to Rye House..Nice to meet old friend Malcom Vasey ,Potters team manager ,,Malc you can be proud of your lads they gave it a real good go...
  11. Luke Priest guests for Simon Lambert in the stoke team.Simon is riding for his premier league club ..Hawks line up Barrie Evans ,,Ben Morley,,David Mason,,Ben Hopwood..Marc Owen,,Brandon Freemantle,,Shane Hazelden..
  12. This was an excellent advert for National League speedway.marred only by the injury to Adam Lowe(back injury)..Jake Knight was superb for the stars. For the Hawks Barry Evans came on really strong towards the end of the meeting 15+1 ..Mark Owen battled well from the back late on 8+1..and Ben Morley was solid all night in the difficult no 2 slot.7+2 .Good back up from David,.6+1 Ben Hopwood,5+2 ,Shane 4+1. 15 yr old Brandon Freemantle showed up well and will learn from these early meetings, has the makings and will come good..This is a good solid team and should have a great season..
  13. Sorry but have to agree with backless .the public are paying good money to watch what ammounts to amatuer racing with one or two exceptions..What promoter in his right mind is going to risk putting this standard of racing on again next year...
  14. Definatly need reinforcements sunk without trace at Rye by the Hawks youngsters..Just not up to the standard required at national level..Nostalgic value only if your into that..Shame as previous tours have provided exciting competative meetings..Needs at least two if not three competative replacements..Where from ??..
  15. A woefully weak usa team bearing no comparison to previous teams that have toured in the past and i doubt many promoters will be inviting them back next season unless Steve Evans can garrantee a team that is competative at this level..A field day for the young Hawks, winning races is always good for confidence even when you beat nothing..Lets hope when the real racng starts on wednesday at Kings Lynn, the Hawks will really fly..
  16. They are all self obsessed.Same as the B.S.P.A..thats a thought if they were running the country things could be even worse !

  18. Nice to see a positive post Rockets amongst all the doom and gloom of this thread..Sure Rye is not the cheapest place to watch speedway but it is one of the better equiped stadiums.Absolutly every thing is going up , its the way this country is at the moment ,no one likes it, but we all have to live with it..Len will no doubt live with his decisions ,and ive no doubt Rye will not be one of the speedways closing down at the end of the season ..As you say what can be more exciting than watching the youngsters progress..
  19. We have some outstanding young talents in the Hackney line up and i know several of them will be going for the number one spot in the team before the end of the season. Ben Morley already has a Premier place with the Rockets and Marc ,Shane ,Brandon and even 20 yr old Ben Hopwood will be looking to catch the eye of premier league promoters this year..It is going to be an exciting season for everyone as these young riders look to make strides towards their racing progress..
  20. D Danny Halsey is on a snip of an average amazing he has not been snapped up by anyone.
  21. Jason Garrity is the most entertaining rider i have seen at this level..Unfortunatly he is somewhat wild and will probably drop more points than he gains from this style and i feel his average at the end of the season will reflect this. He is however a great prospect and when the aggression becomes more controlled he will rapidly make a higher level..Cant wait to see him in action again He is the type of rider that excites the crowd who ever you support..
  22. There are still some places going and im sure someone will want you on that low false average which is a snip for team building..Good luck Danny..Try a personal call to Cris Louis..Be bold you know you could be a no.1 again..
  23. The team looks well balanced as are most teams ive seen this year..Two cracking good youngsters in Jason(exciting to watch if still a bit wild) and Kyle who has done really well in Oz this winter. And if Byrons on his game a decent rider at this level..
