It is not Len who has pulled the plug on the Hawks at lakeside and the sooner the team moves back to Rye the better..This was never going to work as in the case of cradley with its huge enthusiastic following It has allienated some fans and there were few enough to start with ..to recover the situation i feel the admission must be reduced to get fans back at Rye..We all have to hope Len can carry on ,and lets get back to Rye House Raiders as soon as possible..I have heard a double header is planed,,with a great value admission..Hope that is true,,could kick start the interest again..This is my personal view and i dont wish to get into any arguments about it....As i respect Parsloes view of the situation as well...
-
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Shane..Im sure with your determination you will be in the under 19s.GOOD LUCK TOMMORROW..
-
Danny might know the answer to that..Sure hes good on the grass... But how many meetings is he likely to do if the grass comes first... Home ones mid week probably..
-
It is not personal ,but he is wasting a space in the team that could have gone to a more commited rider ,I fail to see how grass track can take precedence over speedway if he is commited to the I.O.W...
-
I doubt Shane will be riding(fractured finger) if not ,will we have a guest or rider replacement, with all being able to take a ride that could work for us and put some extra cash in the lads pockets..though im expecting the guest option..Does any one know? But hopefully Shane is fit to ride soon...
-
He sounds like a waste of space..

David Mason is banging in big scores lately and is a different rider this season ,i would have expected him to exceed the 7 points gained from RR. purely on his gating ability which is back to something like his best...

Not a great lover of this track ,lack of atmosphere to far away from the action ..Having said that the track surface was in great condition largely down to the rain before hand and it produced some excellent, enjoyable racing for those present..Unfortunatly the speedway fans do not give this level the support it deserves, and i fear for its long term survival and the futures of our young riders..Of which the Hawks have several, the youngest of which Brandon Freemantle 15YRS is starting to show his considerable potential.....

Ben Morley may not have had sufficient matches to obtain a new average like the rest of the team,if he moves to reserve as has been suggested its on last seasons average..Once he has obtained a new average he will move back into the team as this seasons scores suggest he is nearer the top of the averages than the bottom..Hope this explains the possible situation ,,but i can not be 100% sure about this till the new averages are announced
-
All i can say is when the same thing happens on the first turn it is invarably all 4 back in...Had the decision gone against Ben i would have been as unhappy about it as you are,,but this type of incident on that particular part of the track is notoriously difficult to call for referees...Fans will have a view based on which team they support,,,human nature

Refering to heat 11 i can not quote Bens opinion of the incident ..My own opinion of this particular incident which i have seen many times over 6o yrs going to speedway is some you win some you lose.... The other incident Danny Halsey went down first and was the primary cause of the stoppage end of story...

There was only going to be one result after Shane Hazelden, was unfortunatly ruled out of the meeting after laying his bike down in heat two to avoid fallen partner Brandon Freemantle...Shane has been in sparkling form this season and his likely points that were lost have made a big difference to the outcome of this KO cup tie..Hawks now have a mountain to climb next sat..That they still have any chance was largely down to a battling performance from Ben Morley, unlucky not to increase his 12 point score (that included a TR Victory in heat 11),, after his machine died on him round the second turn,in heat 15..Most of the Fen Tigers had field day consistantly out gating a subdued Hawks side that produced only two heat wins....Still an enjoyable afternoons racing on a well prepared track ..My only problem the tannoy was to quiet to hear properly...

Congratulations to Shane Hazelden another excellent performance. This lad has come back from some awfull injuries and is showing guts and determination that should soon get him an opportunity in the premier league somewhere..I was not there but it looks like we let at least a point slip away, after Ben and Barry had given us a great start with two early 5-1s ..For the Heathens Darrel Ritchens put in a performance that showed his obvious potential..Gutted to have missed what must have been a great meeting..
-
A kick up the backside sometimes works wonders, obviously did for Nick today ,And could hang on to his place with some repeat performances..Any way I.O.W could be looking for a new reserve looking at their current problems..Tough on John Resch though today..
-
Ben is riding at Edinborough with the Rockets and yes David and the reserves take the rides..Though Ben is shown at the top of the Hawks averages at the moment the new averages have not come into force yet, to my knowledge ,and may indeed change before they do..Of course with the weather in Scotland at the moment not being good he could still ride for the Hawks in the event of a very early cancellation there..With Shane going really well and David suited to Lakeside this may not present a problem points wise..Though i suspect Ben will be missed..Dudley are a strong team and i anticipate a close encounter between two basicly young teams...

Agree with Shadders it is probably an experiment,,see how it goes this year ,,.but what new venture isnt.Hopefully if it is successfull to both clubs More money may be spent on it next season...By the way Kens videos of the matches are excellent and very good value for money they are at the track every meeting{There u go Ken must be worth a free copy this week)
-
Spot on Steeplejack,,The money is not there because there are insufficent fans.So promoters charge more to get in its a vicious circle..Result even less fans..
-
Yes Boss man is a good supporter...And yes occasionally an innocent comment on here can upset those involved with the stressfull side of helping to keep a rider racing particularly in the very difficult financial side of National League Racing..Although an opinion is just that ,,an opinion..And were all different with those...But seen from differing view points.....

Bryn i found the sermon quite interesting and well written ,,gobsmacked that Mimmo new so much about Lens very distant past ..
-
You are dead right Roger unfortunatly posters on here in the main are not personally connected like you and i ,and have no idea of the work and huge amounts of money that goes into keeping these lads racing,,and it does get us mad when we feel people dont know what they are talking about..but they are still entitled to put their opinions on here so in the main we have to swallow it,,Like you i very recently got involved with a personal argument with a poster,. in hind sight i wish i had not ..I wish their were more constructive views on here it would be nice..I do however have some sympathy with those who complain about the price of admission,.. Rye unfortunatly is the most exspensive..And i do believe this is partially responsible for the low attendences at National league meetings...Having said that i agree some of the racing has been excellent....Oh and the rider you refer to has been a revellation so far this season ..Well done to all your team ..
-
These stats are great to browse through,,be great if you can keep them updated say every 3 meetings or so..
-
I agree about the prices a reduction may or may not bring in more people that is a management decision as they see it,, but there were a lot more than 150 there,,and dont forget i believe the GP was on the telly and the Rockets are at home on monday 7-45pm start by the way. Many can only afford one fix per weekend..
-
Great info Paul much needed on this occasion ..
-
Its a shame no updates ....The Hawks scraped home 48-39 in the end ,,Had Garrity arrived ( broke down on route) The result may well have been reversed..And im not joking,,Belle Vue rode well.. The Hawks will need to improve on this performance as a team if they are to challenge for the league title..Great performances though from Barrie Evans and Shane Hazelden..And to lesser degree Ben Morley and David Mason saw them through....
-
Well he did not make it to Rye sat ,Broke down twice on route
