  1. Shane stopped pushing when the red light came on ..The ref changed his mind later and awarded Shane a point.
  2. I make you right on that one ..:was watching Ben Morley riding for the rockets that night. The results up there did not make good reading for a Rye fan.... ..
  3. Montie there were 4 inexperienced riders in this match and they were bound to take points of one another..none of them are quite ready for this league..though given the conditions last night one or two could make the break through sometime next year and i hope they do however i would be surprised if Len Silver will be rushing to sign them ..Pace wise Kingston looked to have the most potential actually won a race...
  4. Great meeting if you like lots of falls and riders being lapped, a bit like formula 1 you sometimes were not sure who was in front and who was at the back,,to be fair the track was slippery early on ,not ideal conditions to introduce inexperienced riders to the teams, who in fact all had their moments in between their falls..The racing was not up to the normal National league standard however and will have done little to encourage first time fans to support a hammers team at this level next season, which is unfortunate as the League needs new teams..Good performances from Hawks David Mason,Marc Owen,Shane Hazelden and Ben Morley who also produced the best two passes of the night catching Adam Wrathall on the line in heat 11,,and a brilliant pass of Saints top rider Richie Worrall to win ,in heat 15..Credit to all the riders for giving it ago in difficult conditions,,Lets hope that Lakeside will join the Rye House Raiders in the National League next year...
  5. Thanks dragons den..As you say we attend all these meetings..And only have the interests of the team members at heart ,,..Obviously the training days are going well with George and Linda, And a team place for a top trainie in the meeting will of course result in a good turnout for that afternoons training ,, which in turn will help finance the evening meeting.. But i stand by my former posting and whatever anyone says it will lower the standard of the League Match..Better they race against one another in front of the public in some extra races,.With maybe a couple of the lowest scorers included from the match to assess their progress..
  6. This is supposed to be a league match not a trainies special. OK if you like watching riders who are half a lap of the pace, and is also denying team members earning some extra much needed money from rider replacement rides, I can tell you with some certainty they wont be happy..Put some additional races on for the trainies is a better idea..
  7. Okay ,i admit my views on Lakeside are not the best..And you must admit that all your posts on Len and Rye house have always been less than complimentary,, So lets agree to disagree on this ,its tiring me out on the keyboard..
  8. So this meeting is going to be watered down with the addition of training day riders in possibly both teams ,confirming this meeting is now no more than a meaningless challenge match..Great exit i dont think..If lakeside run a team in the National League next year i would applaud and support it,,I just dont see it happening,,Willing to eat humble pie if it does...
  9. Agree with all your post ,for all his knockers, Len is one of the most enthusiastic promoters in the country has done it all ,Rider,, England manager twice,, Track curater for World finals,,His knowledge of Speedway is unsurpassed and at his age some people should show him more respect...
  10. That is not true ,its about fifty fifty on track preference.
  11. Few would have been happy with sundays call off ,but you must understand that the Hawks are basically a Rye team the fans of which have no wish to have to go to what they consider is an away track..A track that has already pulled the plug on national league matches through lack of support..Why this final meeting is being staged there only John and Len know the reason ..It may be a request from the opposition who may prefer friday night to sunday afternoon ,i dont know..But i can assure you the majority would prefer it was at Rye House..And thank god it will be next season....
  12. Agree with that, very bad move ,Rye fans will not like it one bit.. Its all going to be at Rye next season so why allienate the fans at this late stage makes no sense ,,unless Scunny/ Sheff want it on a friday ,or want to ride at Lakeside (cant think why)..?
  13. What the hell is going on here ,so much messing with the fixtures and going back to Lakeside ugh ??, Why ,horrible track no atmosphere and i suspect vertually no fans..Was looking forward to this fixture at Rye the last Hawks fixture of the season.. Apparently loads turned up at Rye last sunday to see the cancelled meeting..Should have stayed sunbathing in their gardens..
  14. Dispite the promoting failures , and there were some agreed ,I do not believe the Hackney branding went down well with the Rye fans, Though i believe the major problem at both tracks was the pricing policy ,and i dont hold out much hope of it changing next season . But at least Rye will continue the developement of British youngsters..Which has to be good for speedway in this country..
  15. The standard of the national league this season was probably the highest the third tier has been, and yet with the exception of 2 or3 tracks it still fails to capture the imagination of the fans who do not attend in good numbers which is a shame,,because the racing and atmosphere can be excellent as Dudley and Mildenhall fans can testify to. It is to be hoped at least 10 teams start next season.. And will continue to produce some more excellent youngsters that we have undoubtably seen this season..several of whom have doubled up in the Premier League at reserve already, in my opinion premier reserves should be exclusively under 21 yrs and british and this should be put forward at the BSPA AGM...Our thanks should go to those promoters that are encouraging young British riders..Lets get behind this league next year and help make it the success it needs to be for the future of speedway in this country..
  16. A bit better than Lakeside..Len did not pull the plug half way through the season, and will run a team in the National League next season because bringing on youngsters is important to him and British Speedway..
  17. Whats happening with the plans at BRISTOL..????
  18. Good all round performance from the Hawks ,if this level had been present in recent matches we could and probably should have been looking at a place in the play offs..However all is not lost, two must win matches left, i believe the talent is there if everyone fires on the night,no one is unbeatable,,Hopefully this meeting saw the resurgence of Marc Owen as one of our most naturally talented youngsters and could yet be our trump card at reserve. With Ben Morley, David and Shane all going well..We just need Barry back to his best to be the force we can be again.....
  19. Hackney will need to take something from this match to have any chance of a play off place.Recent form suggest it will be difficult to achieve..All the team need to ride at their best ,not just one or two as has been the case in the last few matches. Hope its a good meeting and good luck to all the riders ,,wish i could be there..
  20. Solid performance from Mildenhall tonight saw them take 3 points in a 48 -42 win at Rye House tonight and should ensure they qualify for the play offs..The hawks need a miracal now to finish in the top 4 ,though Ben Morley was the star of the show tonight with 5 wins in his 16 + 1 from 6.. Which included a stunning victory over the previously unbeaten by a Hawk , superb guest for the Tigers Robert Brandford in heat 15..
  21. With the quality of riders on show this should be one of the best meetings of the season.Scunny have a very strong top end that stretches some way down the team..Tigers have strength in depth and home advantage..Could be some Rye supporters here with the involvement of guest Ben Morley, who will give 100% as always, and loves the Mildenhall track.. This one is to close to call and should pull a bumper crowd,,,
  22. Not In team order.. 1 Howarth 2 Morley 3 S Worrel 4 R Worrel 5 Newman 6 Garrity 7 Birks 8 Sargeant or Hazelden
  23. As a neutral observer in this debate,,what ever side Dudley..(cradley) Put out their input to the National League is vital to its success..They have something we can only dream of down south with the exception of probably Mildenhall..Loads of ultra keen fans..But fans are not always informed of the true reasons for management decisions..Be happy with what you have...
  24. Ben you and i know the reason for this venture.. How many of his hammers fans did John Cook think were going to support the Hawks .Its well documented that Elite league fans dont support the lower leagues in any numbers.. No ammount of promotion was going to make this project succeed ..Prices of admission are the main problem at this level and need to fall in line with other tracks... It is to be hoped that Len can recover the situation and that we will have a team in this league next season called the Raiders..But you could not blame Len if we dont..
  25. It was Ben Morley out in front in heat 15 not Owen .before lifting and going through a gap in the wall ,( fortunatly other wise he could have been badly hurt,)And some of the Mildenhall fans were laughing at this .Disgracefull ! The majority did clap him on his way back to the pits however ,unhurt thankfully ..
