  1. The future of the sport relies on the fans ,.No fans ... No sport
  2. It is no good complaining about attendences if you dont put out a competitive side , The riders to will be disappointed that the team will not now be likely to qualify for the play offs ,.I have always admired Len Silver but some of his decisions lately bitterly disappoint me......Unless he is going to use Ben Hopwood ? who i believe may be a Rye asset,,maybe someone can confirm that......
  3. Kester you obviously dont know the rider...insurance risk..got it ?
  4. Press and Practice is on friday 9th march approx 11am...other practice days are thurs 8th and sat 10th....In the past the public have been welcome and the Burger bar open ,i imagine it will be the same this year...The riders in the main of both teams are likely to attend all or most of these practices...
  5. Sorry Parsloes on reflection i make you right i just saw the list within your post.... ...
  6. Owen and Freemantle have signed for the I,O.W..Lee Strudwick returns to make up the team with others listed by Parsloes..The reserves may well be as suggested,,but as yet no confirmation on those two..
  7. Rockets have not heard anything yet there are several weeks to go before their first meeting so it may be left to the last minute ,alternatively there may be an announcement at press and practise day,,Who knows ? this is speedway after all !!
  8. I believe it is for trainees that do not have a National League team .but one reserve from the national league team may be included in the line up..I Think this thread should be under Junior leagues..But there does not seemto be one yet....
  9. Dean great post ,,have you considered applying for the position of national league co-ordinator,,I Believe you would get massive support..Of course not until you have finished enjoying yourself on a speedway bike..
  10. About time to,,,A fast sport ,,run by slow people.....
  11. The BPSA are not interested in anything dscussed on these forums..Few promoters,, even look at it,,we all have op[nions of what needs to be done to improve british speedway..Some may be excellent but all fall on deaf ears....
  12. The point im trying to make is that many reserves are used as sacrificial lambs and it totally destroys thier confidence and this needs addressing....
  13. As things stand at the moment most teams go with a strong res at no7 this rider invarably takes the place of the number 6 in heat 14,and often has 7 rides,,,Great if you are the stronger reserve ,,but soul destroying for the no 6 who also gets swopped for the no 7s harder rides and then loses his second easiest ride in heat 14 and only gets 3 rides ,,and of course then begins to lose confidence...This is a situation above all others that in my opinion needs sorting more than anthing else regarding young reserves and thier progress.....Weather or not a new format could address this i dont know...?..But i would support one that did.....
  14. Every thing to do with this league seems to drag its feet..Cant help thinking that a younger co-ordinater with some drive might be a good thing ..How can riders and fans plan thier summer if everything is done at the last minute,,.It is really not good enough....
  15. The existing tracks problem is of course money..Few run National League at a profit there are some excellent exceptions of course. Heathens,,Mildy .. But in general the fans support for this league is not what it deserves..and without one or two of the prospective new tracks comeing to fruitition in 2013 and no further loss of exsisting tracks, the future does indeed look bleak.. for not just this league, but Speedway in general,as there will be a knock on effect ..We can only hope that this season is a one off,,and the new teams will come in next year....Support it or lose it springs to mind....
  16. Try telling the riders thats enough meetings you wont find one agreeing with you..And the stupid cut off date is to early any way..We need more meetings full stop...
  17. 20 century heathen..Pedersen ,Crump and the like can hardly be compared to the kids in the National League who can not be classed as professionals at this level as every penny earned.. and much more goes into maintaining bikes ,vans ,, excessories ..My own grandson Ben Morley is badly in need of sponsers for the new season,,However small all financial assistance is greatfully recieved .And that is the real world...The Dean Machine being a rider of many years experience is also correct in the effect on fingers..They have been designed with only legs and arms in mind..so still dangerous....Oh and most tracks dont pay for second half racing........
  18. Duch grasstrack could you possibly give us the name and telephone number for this supplier of legal gaurds that take the old covers would be obliged...
  19. £200+ for the new silencers ...£70+ for the new rear mudgaurds ...£150+ for a new bike cover..£420 for one bike.... £840 for two bikes where are the riders supposed to find this sort of money before the season starts ,,and thats with out other bike parts and engine tunes,,The health and safety brigade have gone stark raving mad..At this level of racing these extra costs can not be justified....
  20. I think rye can handle more than 7 or 8 meetings, with the use of double headers available that could take care of 3 .. And the Rockets ride away on several sats.... So yes im sure they could....Want to ???? Dont know....
  21. If only 8 teams come to tapes this year ,as seems likely at the moment,,it will be vital to increase the number of meetings with an additional competition ..The stand alones have the biggest problem ,,but all the riders will suffer if nothing is done.....
  22. Desperately dissapointing ,,Now down to 8 teams means nowhere near enough meetings to bring on the young riders to a level where they have a chance of progressing to the premier league..We have to hope there may be a late entry to the league,,or introduce a new competition to boost the number of meetings .. This season is looking poor indeed for young riders unless something is done at the A.G.M...
  23. The idea of a reduced average for total novices could be a good thing provided safegaurds are put in to stop possible obuses of the system,,ie Aussies,,,riders over a certain age,, and so on...
  24. The National League A.G.M. takes place at Rugby on thursday 26th of January,,Any new teams will aparently be given some time after this date to join the League, it is hoped that there are one or two possibilities in that direction but as yet nothing certain..
