Result much as expected Plymouth win 54 /36....Roynon and Morley met 4 times and came out honours even 2 wins a piece ,,.Improved performance from Hopwoood 12 from 6 rides ..Verge scored what he does most meetings5+1,,....Widman 4+1 from 5 rides poor again needs replacing,,reserves not up to the job again ,,,They need to keep trying different riders till they find one that can do better......For the Devils,, Roynon 16 from 6 did the business and Andrews riding at reserve,14 from 5 did what he is capable of against this sort of company ,,5+2 from Leek also showed up the Warriors reserves.......
-
Time for the management to get tough on the under performing IOW riders ,,,Ben Morley excluded from this suggestion,,,,or another defeat looms at the hands of the Devils tonight Having said that Plymouth also have problems so it could be closer than you might think..Good safe meeting to all the riders
-
It does seem that some clubs have a monopoly on the best youngsters. ,,and this is not good for what is already a struggling sport...
-
Ben Morley the only. Warrior.to win any races at home says a lot about this under performing side..Strong showing from Eastbourne running out big winners here tonight .You have to feel sorry for the IOW promoters and their fans ,,some of these riders are consistently very poor. What they can do about it I do not know ?
-
I am in favour of some kind of handicaping, more on the lines of gate positions ,,where the lowest average rider in a race would have first choice of gates,,then the next lowest rider , next choice , and so on upwards regardless of team they were riding for,,,,Same average riders to toss a coin to decide .....gates are really important in giving a rider an advantage And the best gates might vary from track to track and riders would need to do their homework....
-
Ben Morley returns after being taken out ,,up in the air and into the fence at Redcar ,,dislocating his right thumb..Hopefully he will be able to perform at his normal level against an Eastbourne team who look strong from the bottom up,, .......For the IOW who could have Campos back ,for the struggling Warriors,,,will all need to up their game to have any chance of winning.... Hope its a good meeting and all the riders stay safe

Lakeside Hammers v Workington Comets - Friday 1st June
waco replied to tocha's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Bewley is an exceptional talent .but at Lakeside he was going in very deep on the bend entry's,,and it was not working for him on the night.he will of course learn from that ..He is still the best young rider around since Robert Lambert....And that is coming from a Leaksider !,,,,!! -

Poor meeting tonight but what can you expect against a team that only had two riders trying,Procter and Campton......Worky should really think about some changes especially at the top end...Hammers continue to impress as a really solid outfit that look like they are really enjoying themselves home ,and away,, the track was in excellent condition and there can be no excuses for Workys poor performance tonight....... -
Of course it has ...........
-
Exactly City Rebel that is what i meant by the word clout.....
-
Unfortunatly this IOW side is toothless without Ben Morley ..Hopefully he wiil not be out for to long, And i know he will try to be back as soon as possible as he loves the club and every one involved there.....,The standard of guests used are not going to cover his points,,and some of the team need to be told to get their finger out,or go,,continual changes at the bottom end are not working either,,,Its a shame because the otherwise excellent management here just do not seem to have the clout to attract the right riders to the club..
-
Not surprised this has been called off regardless of possible weather problems,,with their seriously weak team due to injuries ,they were very likely to have lost to the rampant Hammers ....
-
So Coventry win easily against virtually a one rider team ...big deal....

Lakeside Hammers v Edinburgh Monarchs Saturday 19th May

Hopefully the team place Alfie has for a while at Cradley will give him the time on the bike he needs to improve....His style is such that i have my doubts about the potential others talk about,,.sure he can gate .but i have seen no improvement in ability to score points at Championship level...I hope he can prove that my opinion is wrong.... -

Some really good racing at the raceway despite the score line 54--36.....Starting in heat 1 with Ben Morley, flying out of the gate to record what i believe may be the fastest time of the season 58.7 ....Adam Ellis top scored with 12+1 from 5 ...Young Zach 10+1 from 5 looked quick and a solid all round performance from the rest,,,with the exception of Alfie Bowtell who continues to struggle at this level and desperately needs a regular team place in the National league ....Eric Riss looked strong early for the visitors while Eddie Kennet had his moments late on,,the rest put up some spirited efforts for little reward ...Chilly evening with an average crowd despite the football cup final ,,track staff did a good job on the track that produced some top class passing,,,most enjoyable evening -

Home win all the way,how many of this Edinborough team have any experience of the Lakeside track.Kennet aside ? -
Woods may be an improvement at reserve for IOW ,,,,if his equipment is up to it..Home win is expected..but some up and down riders in both teams who could make the difference depending how they go on the night...Expect some good races with Mountain and Morley...who look a cut above the rest........
-
IOW win 50 / 40 Improoved all round showing from the Warriors ..Ben Morley another 15 point max ...riding here is doing wonders for his big track capability....Joining the IOW is proving to be a good move..Well done the team..
-
Good to see Hopwood riding and doing the job and a bit better from the middle order...looking good for a win half way through the meeting.?.would be great to be proved wrong with my prediction..keep it going lads
-
RR for Hopwood just will not cut it,..OK they could get a 3 from Morley,s ride but where is the other 7 to 11 coming from to make Hopwoods probable score up which will most likely be needed to have any chance of winning this one ..surely they could have got some one on Hopwoods average to cover...I hope i am wrong but i see Coventry nicking this .... Just maybe there is a small chance, Hopwood can ride........Good luck to all the riders,,stay safe....
-
IOW is not the easiest place to run a speedway club and you have to have some simpathy for their current predicament., Can not alter the fact that without changes,, ie better riders ,,many more home defeats look on the cards unfortunatly.........
-
Afraid this looks a cake walk for Eastbourne,,Morley and Hopwood will provide most of the IOW s points...Their tail will get slaughtered..

Lakeside V Ipswich frid 4th May 8pm
waco replied to waco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ipswich put up a spirited performance against a Hammers side that did not look as invincible at home as previously thought,, score 49 -41... Some good races ,,with Connor Mountain being the star of the show,,undoubtably a better rider round Lakeside than he is at Ipswich,,wish we could swop him for Alfie Bowtell who continues to look out of his depth at this level..Crowd not swelled by many Ipswich fans, but was decent enough ,though, spread round the track which makes it look less,,...Zach looked a little under par after his recent injury but he will soon bounce back....Hammers top five were solid ,but did not dominate as usual..Still an enjoyable meeting in lovely weather for a change..... -

Well he does but who cares,? -
The very good youngsters are snapped up by one or two. clubs who are on the ball each season ..They need to be spread around more to even things up ,,How you could do this i have no idea ,,??? But i do think the points limit needs to be higher in this league which would help a lot.....
