  1. Big away 4 point win for the Hammers who really got going in the second half of the meeting..Well done all the riders......
  2. Do they ride for that anymore..i have not seen it for a few seasons now.....
  3. Sounds like there gonna need some rain some time today ,,,but not this evening hopefully....
  4. I hope they have the sense to grade and soak the track the day before ,,,and again on thursday morning and afternoon,,or the dust will be a nightmare ,,...Still hope it is a ,, good meeting and safe for all the riders .. Bad track preparation in this very hot weather is causing many crashes ,,with the resulting injuries ....Come on you Hammers!!!
  5. Poor track maintenance is just another reason the fans are deserting this great sport in droves..It definately needs a massive shake from the top,....,Even that may now be to late to save the sport i have loved for 68yrs,,,,,
  6. I see there are loads of fallers in tonight's meeting against Kent. Including the top boys,,is it safe . .?
  7. Matertron who has posted on here,, was in the box as well said they all agreed with the decisions he made,,,If Carrington was along side the trainee ref why did he not put him right on these decisions,, i have to agree i thought at the time some decisions were not right
  8. Thanks for your reply Matertron .however the fans in the area around me were getting wound up over the rolling starts that we're not being recalled .I agree about the track as more riders than usual we're riding the white line..For a trainee ref if that was the only criticism I guess he did ok...
  9. Very enjoyable meeting and thats what you get when the visiting team give it a real effort ,,Impressed with Broc Nichol who had never seen the track before..Our top two were immaculate as usual.. and a good solid performance from Ben Morley,,.. with Kyle Newman also doing the job on his return from injury,,helped make up for Adam Ellis having a very rare off night ,,something was,nt quite right ,probably machinery related..There were a fair few rolling starts,,some got away with ,,and i wonder if there was a trainee ref in attendance ,,,Crowd looked a little up on recent meetings ,,probably an effect from the recent Rye House closure,,,lets hope it is temporary for Rye House and they can start up again preferably in the Championship if it is next season,,So our team marches on and there must be real hope that we can win the league this year.......
  10. I think the Warriors will need some machine guns and a couple of tanks to take victory here...Joking aside even with Ben Morley back I can only see a big away win unfortunately,,but I hope it's a good meeting for the fans and safe one for all the riders ,at least they are not competing against football tonight.....
  11. Was hoping Kyle would be back I hope it is not worse than first thought...still if the lower order do well I think we can still get something from this meeting....
  12. As has been said Morley and Bowtell should do the job but the rest will need to step up for IOW to have any chance against a very powerfull Birmingham side with virtually 3 no 1s in the side,,,....
  13. Just noticed there are 4 Lakeside riders in this match it could pull in a few Hammers fans,,especially as there is no home meeting for them this week.....
  14. Easy win for the Hammers,Garrity the only race winner twice for Scunny, plus two engine failures and did not come out I heats 13 and15 appeared to have had enough on the night.Crowd looked a little below average, and we had several re runs, starting problems for the riders but youexpect that when burn your clutches out boys. Cris Gay is the ref,who always spoils meetings by holding the tapes for to long,,..........Still the' Hammers march on and look invincible at home?,,,
  15. Thanks Tony i was not sure how much of the A13 was closed ,but thought it was a good idea to inform of the problem there
  16. Should be another win for the rampant Hammers,,,,Lovely evening in prospect,,just hope the football does not effect the crowd to much...A 13 IS CLOSED AT PITSEA FROM SOUTHEND AREA USE THE A127....
  17. Beggining to think we just might have the best team in the league...Well done the Hammers ,another away win for the home trick track specialists........
  18. If ever a meeting showed the need for more medical cover then this was it...unfortunatly the paramedics cost about 500 pounds a time,,But if you do not have the cover needed to keep a meeting moving at a reasonable pace the result will be more fans lost to the sport,,,,Last night s delays had people having to leave before the end ,,and will cost them more than an extra paramedic in the long run...This was a rare event at Lakeside but there is no doubt it will have an effect on attendences...
  19. One things for certain and i agree with Dean on this,,, costs in all areas of the sport need to come down dramatically if the sport is to survive....
  20. I respect Deans opinion even though it is a while since he has ridden speedway ...But as in all sport to get to the top which is the aim of most sportsmen ,,firstly you need talent ,enthusiasm, dedication,,,and the best equipment you can get including the best tuners,,...This unfortunately in speedway costs loads of money ,,Many talented lads have failed because of that fact alone.........
  21. Despite the comic ridicule of the Lakeside track it actually produces some very good racing as we have seen this year on a well prepared surface...I have spoken to many visiting riders who tell me they enjoyed riding the (Cycle speedway track) ,,Some have even said they love it...At least it has more than one racing line,,not like some tracks i could mention ..Looking forward to another great nights racing at the raceway with a good safe night for all the riders ....
  22. Improved performance from IOW against Plymouth with a narrow victory,, and a sensational debut for Alfie Bowtell 17 points, this is just what the lad needs a great confidence boost.......,It has to be said that Plymouth were unfortunate to lose Roynon to injury in his 3rd ride or the result may have gone the other way,,,,wish him well for a speedy recovery
  23. This is exactly what Afie needs for his progression ...i see him struggling in the Championship at Lakeside,,so hopefully regular racing in the National will benefit him enormously... he certainly wont be short on effort and has the gating skills to get out in front at this level ,,i wish him well....
