Could be that he does know something - after all his brother is one of the Sheffield promotors!
-
Back on pages 84/85 of this thread posters were on about the security/stewards at Owlerton, well here's another from last night! My younger brother went down to meet my dad arriving just before 9.30. The gates are usually open at this time, but last night they were closed and a steward was on the gate. He asked if he could go in & naively asked if he had to pay or what. The steward asked him how much he usually paid & said he'd get on the radio & ask. My bro looked &told him £11 (as he is a full time student). This goon on the gate then took a tenner off him & let him in. When he told my dad this he went ballistic took him straight back to the gate & confronted this bloke who quickly returned the tenner. When he said he was going to the office to report it this goon started splathering about the radio and begged him not to. After the meeting dad went to the speedway office & told them about this. The lady in the office said that the security staff know they are not to take money off anyone & informed Damien Bates about it as he came in during the conversation. He too was livid, stating that the security were causing all kinds of issues & said he would be getting in touch with the stadium owners regarding the antics/behaviour of the stadium security.

So Bates is rated by Edinburgh, Ipswich and most NL fans. Scunny fans think he can't stay on a bike for four laps, maybe he is a small track rider? Owlerton is a big fast track will be interesting to see if he can cope. Good looking team, Andre could be the trump card. Everyone can put something on their starting average

I will be returning to the terraces this new season, haven't been since 2011.. Very excited

Koppe deserves another chances and would come in on a low average
-
Does this mean Sheffield are 100% running in 2014?

Sheffield For Sale
YorkshirePudding replied to RedcarRacer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Neil clearly has a strong view on the current state of the sport and how the men at the top are going about things. One things a fact he will not pay the hefty price for an air fence at Owlerton. I agree with him that the track is a safe one to ride and the fence does a great job. Hopefully someone can come in and buy the club, Sheffield haven't paid out the wages like some clubs have done in this league and this has led to poor teams, resulting in poor crowds over the last two years. It's a fact that a successful and exciting team can bring good crowds to Owlerton, 2007, 08, 11 have all proved this -
Great win for Sheffield! Especially with Haines having such a poor night. Seriously think we can do well this season it's a good team a couple of riders away from a great team. Steady unlucky again not to get a max, Richard Hall carrying on his great start to the season absolutely untouchable, with good back up from Wells and Facu. Lets go win this competition now to shove it right in those doubters mouths

Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe 04/04/2013
YorkshirePudding replied to OdsalBoy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Facu looking like one of the signings of the season, great to watch him fly around be boards and make it look so easy. Steady was a class above, should of took his time in heat 15 would of easily picked the Scunny riders off in 4 laps. Everyone chipped in with good points, very surprised by Auty and Howe looked shadows of the riders we've seen at Owlerton in the past! Parsons doing laps after the meeting, curious to what average he would come in on? -
Fear this is the end for Sheffield speedway, can't see the crowds improving with another poor looking team

Goodbye title..

late reply but me and my friend made the trip over from Sheffield to watch the double header and see how the NL team got on was very impressed with the standard of racing in the Saints v Kings Lynn. Birks, Blair, Worral, Mallet and Knight were all very good and enjoyed my day out on another note how bad was Sam Masters! couldnt ride the track at all, would of put the NL riders i mentioned up above against him he was terrible.

Colts V Scunthorpe 23rd March
YorkshirePudding replied to all4backin's topic in National League Speedway
i'll be making a couple of trips over to scunny to see Ash and Coops ride. and of course give my support to the team. think Scunny fans main worry is that Sheffield will turn riders like Ash Birks into Tigers, which i know is hard to take but Birks will probably not want to return to Scunthorpe in the future as he is a Sheff lad and is looking like becoming a fans favourite. And Sheffield is a more successful team in the PL. will be going to the meeting tonight, no silencers either! thank the lord -

fantastic!! a great edition to the team. and now with Cooperman leading the lads the Sheffield fans should be really up for showing their support home and away. think i will make the trips also to the EDW to go see Birks and Cooper ride. roll on march -

Cooper leading the team would be great! would be entertaining and a very good rider in the NL plus he brings the team together with his personality. would be a good confidence building season for Coops after his injury. -
Sheffield & Scunthorpe Nl Team

yeh i agree. scunny fans who seem abit displeased about it need to look at the bigger picture. now the team is better funded, the riders will gain more experience and better chance of getting a PL contract -

YorkshirePudding replied to gypilgrim's topic in National League Speedway
Excellent news! should benefit the team from riding at 2 different tracks. and Sheffield will have a good chance to look at upcoming riders who could be snapped up for the PL team. Ash Birks should have plenty of track time this year, all looking good so far -
King's Lynn 2011
YorkshirePudding replied to I HATE THE RAIN's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
if Lambert isnt in the Stars plans for 2011 id be amazed! would probably double his current average. if the Chapmans decide not to have Simon next year, i would grab at the chance to have him back at Owlerton -

KL is far from the best racing track in the UK. its good but id have to say Somerset/Scunthorpe/Sheffield/Poole/Peterborough/Coventry are all alot better for entertainment. taking nothing away from the track staff tonight, they gave the riders a good track to race on. its a shame they dont do it like that for the premier league meetings -
been at sheffield every week riding 2nd halves. looked head and shoulders above the rest (who are all NL riders) would love this guy to sign for Sheffield!
