Glasgow V Rye House Pl 4/8/13 @3 P.m.
MD replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Lawson is a younger version of what we have now at No1. Would have Theo back in a minute, one of the best second strings around but no chance Edin will let him go. I said above that we need to spend a min of 8 points on the reserves so they interchange with underperformers in the main body throughout the season. No ta for Sneddon or Jacobs think Ringwood would be a better 3 pointer thereafter Aspgren, Carl Wilkinson maybe. Sounds like Bager is assured of coming back next year and unless Berwick get in the way Thomsen should become an asset early next year. Perhaps the hardest replacement is for Grieves, workmanlike at home, with the occasional flyer and always certain of double figures. After signing a new No1 we should then build the team from the bottom up. -

Depends if we get to switch to a Friday next year however we definitely need an out and out number 1. I also think we should use at least 8 points for the reserve riders, Aspgren today was excellent on a 5.25 average. -

Rye House were excellent value considering they were effectively a 5 man team, had Nelson been there the score would have been bigger. Mellgren can consider himself unlucky to be disqualified for delaying the start in ht10 when to that point Bunyan had repeatedly not followed the starters instructions and kept pulling back from the tapes. For Glasgow, I just can't see a home win coming. Anders Thomson had as good a debut as you will see, really got stuck in whilst Dakota North looked wild. Three tapes exclusions didn't help for Glasgow, neither did Bagers fall on the last bend on a 5-1. Screen's legend status really is starting to diminish and Joe Jacobs has continued as he has virtually all season, couple of points in ht2 then nought thereafter. Hopefully just once before the end of the season all can click together, I doubt it will be next week though! -

Presumably North is at No2 to counter Bunyan however after today I would like to see him at No4 with Thomson moving to No2. With North out in the opening heat we may even win it! -

Chazzer Wright at reserve for Jacobs or Ringwood? -

Think I'd prefer Thomsen at No2, No4 is a big ask for a new rider finding his feet and who has never seen Shielfield. -

Will it be a guest for Screen or has his broken finger healed? Think I'd prefer a guest, regardless Berwick to win by 25+. -
In response to the original post are there enough British riders to equally replace riders like Alden, Ostergaard, Wolbert etc? No is the overwhelming answer, of the three riders you mention, two are PL reserves, one of which is struggling big time. Perhaps Kelloggs could have a better go at growing British riders than the BSPA.

There aren't nearly enough British riders of equivalent standard to cover for them.

Glasgow Tigers Sign Anders Thomsen

Hope he's not another Tornqvist. Not the best use of the points available, but good luck to him anyway. -
No thanks.

Its looking like a Les Collins final season for Screen, difficult to watch! -

I suppose one heat win out of fifteen is par for the course for Glasgow. New signing can't come quick enough. -

Agreed, Compton is good for a race win most matches. 8.62 is a decent amount of points to play with though depends on how they are used, there are no obvious riders I can think of. We could have replaced any one of the team at some point this season perhaps with the exception of Screen. If as suggested the new rider will come in soon, we only have 10 official PL fixtures left after Armadale tonight that would count towards an average. -

Perhaps it is Compton to go, he was signed initially on a 28 day contract which must be up about now. Hopefully we find out over the weekend. -

Not necessarily, we are quite poor at reserve, depending on averages could drop one of Ringwood or Jacobs, sending Raun to reserve, however the rider coming in would have to be scoring from the off. Realistically though it will be a replacement for Raun. Still struggling with no home match for 3 weeks when the weather is glorius. -

Time to accept it and move on. It could be worse, you could have signed a rider, got him to do the required number of matches to gain an average and become an asset, who then signs for another club the following season and the BSPA then make him their asset -
Its his first full season at PL though. He is at the inbetween stage of racking up big scores in the NL and doing little at PL. A few decent scores for Glasgow in the coming weeks would be welcome!
-
Why does Joe Jacobs not also fit into that? He was excellent in April banging in some decent scores and looking quick but since then has done nothing. I expected him to do well down at Ipswich but never and other than ht2 now, isn't pulling in many points. Oh, and its also gone quiet about his full transfer ! Was good to see so many new faces in the travelling support, a sporting crowd spread right round the stadium rather than just the fourth bend and contributed to a great atmosphere in the sunshine. Hopefully it means the old school moaning brigade who haven't been seen for years at Ashfield have been replaced and can herald a new era of sporting rivalry that has been missing between the clubs for some time. You may just need to give us a decade to put a decent team together.

42-48 is not the worst it could have been however even with Glasgow chucking away points with Screen in ht 1, though cancelled out by Vissing in ht15 and Raun gifting the Monarchs a 5-1 in ht8 they were always going to be winners. Despite Mitchell Davey failing to score, Glasgow's reserve's only scored in ht2 then registered 7 last places, something you cannot do at home and expect to win. Fricke was pretty decent all afternoon especially coming off the inside line and Cook was in a league of his own. Bager had his best meeting for Glasgow whilst Raun looked pretty poor. With no home match for 3 weeks I do wonder how he will manage to improve. Friday night at Armadale will be a slaughter.

I know but surely we shouldn't have to wait until Friday lunchtime. I'm predicting Monarchs by 12 unfortunately.

48 hours to the match and still no press release. Is normal service being resumed? Do any new fans have to guess who is riding?
