  1. Its quite a few seasons back. Unfair to say he was gash, I'm sure he only did 3 matches and never attained an average, returning home with a broken hand/wrist never to be seen again.
  2. Looks like it could be another Twitter bashing for the Met Office tomorrow. Rain forecast, predicted, expected, foreseen from 3pm to 8pm.
  3. Return him to his rightful owner, he and our other French dude could be a decent pairing, though not on the trick tracks!
  4. You can never have enough second strings at GLA!
  5. Hopefully Newcastle can go ahead and turn over our nearest next weekend, they had no opposition today. Danny King took almost a second off the track record though it looked fit for only stock cars, it was so deep on the corners and fast on the straights the poorer riders were struggling to turn, and claimed Aarnio in his third ride. Have we seen the last of Wolbert? With meaningless home fixtures against Worky and Berwick left .....
  6. Quite possibly though there would have to be a clean break from both with a new location and completely fresh ownership and promotion not linked to either club.
  7. It did however it was Edinburgh riding at Glasgow's stadium with the 0131's eventually not travelling through and a few Glasgow fans supporting the opposition. I don't disagree with the original poster that speedway needs rescuing and fewer but stronger and better supported teams are required much like what happened with rugby as it moved in to the pro era with Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Reivers. Could a single Scottish team be the way ahead with regional teams e.g. North East of England etc. It could be the way forward though right now Edinburgh and a few select others would likely say they are doing fine.
  8. Its at this time of year for the last 3 years I have often wondered if there will be a Glasgow next year, having flirted with extinction several times. Crowds have dwindled from last year and the ownership are clearly covering the losses though can they do this forever? The Greater Glasgow area has lost much of its footballing appetite with the loss of Rangers to lower leagues, their internal turmoil and the absolutely tedious SPL where even a rapidly downsizing Celtic could win the league hands down, by Christmas! This presents an opportunity for alternative sports in the Glasgow area to grow and having looked and visited some of them it seems speedway is the poorest of all, both in terms of crowds and facilities: Glasgow Rocks Basketball - Adult £11, Child £7, adult season ticket £160. Play at the all seated indoor Emirates Arena, purpose built for the Commonwealth Games with superb spectator facilities. Regular time of Sundays @ 5pm. Braehead Clan Ice Hockey - Adults £15, Child £9 for cheapest seats, Adult season ticket £315. Excellent all seated arena inside Braehead Shopping Mall, more car parking than you know what to do with. Usual time Saturdays @ 7pm. Crowds average 2600. Glasgow Warriors Rugby - Adults £20 (£15 if booked online in advance), Child £5 for standing tickets. Adult season ticket £135. Play at Scotstoun Stadium. Seated areas are more expensive. Regular time of Friday @ 7.35pm or Saturday afternoons. Contrast that with the speedway and we are the third world of sporting facilities in a run down 1900's stadium with an open air piss trough under the stand and a piss soaked portakabin on the corner masquerading as toilets. Times have more than moved on, spectators have greater expectations and won't accept this. First impressions count and how you lure newbies in is beyond comprehension. In terms of spectator cost, on the day ticket prices are almost on par with above however an adult season ticket with the Tigers is £340 by far the most expensive other than the hockey, however the hockey offers a genuine sporting arena for almost the same money. None of this is criticism of Glasgow but merely observations. I wonder how long the speedway can go on like this in its current state, nothing can be subsidised forever and it seems like a vicious circle of decline.
  9. He'd be worth keeping after taking the pain this season and would be a strong No2, no doubt to support another lame duck at 1!
  10. How likely is it that he would return to Newcastle after being spectacularly shafted by them this season!
  11. Not sure Alden and commitment go together, walked away from the UK too many times. If Berwick could get a decent No1 home and away it would transform them however that is easier said than done with an ever reducing number of riders in that category.
  12. Perhaps on the face of it however most Tigers fans travel into Glasgow from South Lanarkshire which voted no.
  13. There's a surprise. I'm starting to think selling him to Worky was to our benefit. Shades of Ksiezak here after a decent debut season, perhaps an over inflated opinion of one's ability.
  14. Roll on Friday so its over, its all become tedious and beginning to grate though its always difficult when a fat Eck is in charge!
  15. No he shouldn't its a basic principle of any employer/employee relationship and should go without saying.
  16. The article says might so its not to say it will happen. However its up to Kasper, if he wants to stay at Glasgow that's what'll happen, if he doesn't then that's his choice. Having seen him come on massively this year I'd hope to see him back at Glasgow for 2015. Though if we stick to our current signing policy that'll likely be at No1!
  17. Screen was good for it on several occasions last year but never got the criticism. Perhaps with Wolbert patience is shot.
  18. Absolutely, however I think we should keep him for next year. In reality he is a 5 point rider as 2014 has shown and would make a decent No2 with the opportunity to improve when the pressure is on others to bring in the points.
  19. For that to happen we need a change of race day, what about Mondays!
  20. No thanks, time to pull down the shutters on this season. Only Newcastle home and away KOC and Berwick LC at home to run both of which are meaningless unless of course we rattle up a cricket score at Newcastle! Meaningless gets my vote.
  21. 2 4 6 8 And another 60 pointer guaranteed tonight!
