  1. No match point for the Tigers but hitting 40 points twice in the same season at Armadale, must be some sort of record!
  2. Palovaara is virtually guaranteed 7 rides, I doubt Berge or Phillips will get a point between them. Thereafter the only home riders Kozza can get some decent points off are the Germans, and that's about as likely as Nicola Sturgeon becoming Prime Minister. Sedgmen won't be a repeat of Sunday either. Glasgow TR before ht8!
  3. Its not gone un-noticed and I'm sure I'm not the only one unconvinced by him. Great when he gates, smooth and fast for a reserve but otherwise settles for where he ends up after turn 2. Victor also isn't pulling up any trees, his gating is generally awful and he is moved over far too easy.
  4. A fair point, it depends where they are average wise once Riss gets his proper one, around 3.5 IMO and what fixtures Tabaka has on the continent! Sedgmen today reminded me of his time with Redcar, actually was not unlike Wolbert 2014 and we know how frustrating that can be!
  5. A decent meeting in the sunshine today with ht7 the pick as Summers wound in the dud German and got him round the outside off turn 4, crossing the line just as his bike started smoking. Ht5 was also a good one as Morris and Cook swept inside and out for 2 laps before Morris took the advantage. Glasgow were never really troubled as Sedgmen was remiscent of the Redcar Justin from a few years ago, not gating, not interested and just trundling around at the back. Whilst Masters and Cook stepped up towards the end, Monarchs had little else picking up 9 last places over the meeting. Masters though was illustrious all afternoon. Had the meeting been closer Glasgow's thrown away points could have been costly. Kozza spinning out in ht6 whilst in third gifted Clegg his only point and Lawson clipping the the fence in ht10 gave the Sour Kraut an easy 3 points. Ht14 was scrappy, Palovaara couldn't get a very slow Branford whilst it seemed Berge never turned on his fuel tap having been pushed out on turn 2. Another very decent crowd today, the 0131's again travelled in numbers they must've thought a win was on the cards as they wouldn't have otherwise. When they come back in June, Riss will have a new average and one of his team mates at 6 or 7 will likely have been dispensed with.
  6. We shouldn't be worried after only a couple of weeks. In 2011 it was early June before we really got going and we ran out of steam towards the middle of August. Expect a few teams to strengthen up after first set of averages.
  7. I've been saying for several years we should ditch the Spring Trophy against EDI in favour of opening the season with a challenge against another team. Berwick would do nicely.
  8. Berwick started poorly other than Masters and looked like it would be easy for us. That is until ht7 when they started gating, the Bandits provided all race winners from ht10 onwards. Ht13 was race of the night as both Morris and Lawson picked off Masters who had gated on a 5-1 with Vissing. Summers in ht15 was a surprise as he was hit and miss. Jorgenson in the rerun laid it down IMO having seen he was being left behind at turn 1. Bike problems for Berge and Sarjeant were cancelled out by Crang not scoring and Voldrich not gating.
  9. Great win after a slow start. Hopefully the first of many away wins this season.
  10. FFS breaking 40 points at Armadale, it really might be a decent season for us.
  11. Fair point, we still have the Spring Trophy probably because that's what's always happened. I'd happily ditch it in favour of starting a challenge against someone else, and in April.
  12. The greater good is a one way street, I've never heard or read that opinion from a Monarchs fan. For the last 2 winters we could have closed for good and I doubt very few in the east would have batted an eyelid. We have rightly not been on their radar as we have been uncompetitive for several seasons, however what has been abundantly clear during that time is that they do not need us. The greater good only works when travelling fans reciprocate in the same large numbers and the home team on each occasion benefits from the gate money. Sunday hopefully has heralded a new dawn, an excellent travelling support who turned out on a rotten day. Glasgow look competitive this season, matches with the Monarchs look to be tasty and crowd pullers but rather than undermine the greater good ideology, the hard evidence will be in 3 weeks at Ashfield when we see if it actually is shared amongst the fans of both clubs.
  13. But will they return in 3 weeks or will it be back to the usual handful? It would be a great atmosphere if they did and the weather played its part. #olivebranch #willwaitandsee
  14. Or positive PR for those who don't like dogs at their weekly speedway meet.
  15. Good post, you would think though that with the club having a once in a lifetime relaunch we could start afresh. Presenters have to be visually presentable, as well as bearing in mind they are announcing to everyone in the crowd not just the home fans. It can be embarrassing at times especially from the announcers box, who knows what away fans think never mind any newbies. Lets hope for a more slick and professional presentation to kick start our new era at the end of the month.
  16. Rejuvinated stadium, more professional era in a break from the past, surely not ....
  17. By rough calculation from an overall CMA of 7.09 that gives a home average of 8.55, not too shabby. General opinion on here seems to be that the brethren aren't with you in dropping Pijper. Morris and Lawson are genuine No 1's and its unfair to compare TP with them, he is after all a third heat leader and even rode at reserve for us in 2011. As for Summers and Smith, can only disagree. Summers is one that still baffles me and only his age and non work permit status seems to be in his favour of signing him, never mind buying him as an asset. He will never be a rider of the standard of Pijper IMO, though for this season I think he'll be the Richard Sweetman of 2011 with his shortcomings likely over looked in a strong side. We still have Kozza unable to enter the country and who knows what preparation he may have done if any for the new season bearing in mind he may be refused a work permit. Pijper could have filled that slot for this season anyway and we could have gone after Kozza for 2016 after all money talks.
  18. Pijper should have had a team place close to home. He will serve you well. He is used to riding under pressure having covered for an incompetent team mate and some mind boggling management decisions to change riders last season. The situation with Douglas may not be all that simple. If he comes back mid season and finds it hard to score points he may not achieve the magical 7 points.
  19. Hard to judge from peering through the fence on Finlas Street though it did seem like the retaining wall on the fourth bend had been moved back. The track itself was all ploughed up and there was a mini bucket loader going round on the track with materials.
  20. Hopefully the product is ready for 6 weeks today against the dark side. I took a run up today, there has been a lot of work done at Ashfield, a lot still to do and a lot of clearing up to go with it. Will the track be able to be re-laid and settle in time for racing? Last time we had major track changes in 2011 we ended up delaying the start of the season.
  21. It was the snowy Friday evening against London I was there, great finish right at the end too. At £10 an adult, speedway can't compete with that though hopefully we can bring back families to Ashfield, they are evident at Braehead Clan and the basketball though it may need a change of race day from a Sunday.
  22. Good post, you can't market speedway to a new audience with the way Ashfield was. I went to see Glasgow Rocks last month on a deal from Wowcher, there were no more than 350 spectators there. However the facilities were excellent and the overall experience was good. If we get all the ingredients right, decent facilities, snack bar and racing hopefully the only thing we don't have control over plays its part for this season anyway, the weather.
  23. Fair point though longer term Westminster would take back control of immigration and could offer favourable terms to the nations of our choosing not those imposed on us, just as the Portuguese do for Brazilians, the Italians for Argentinians etc.
  24. Vote to leave the EU in 2 years time. Nothing else can stop it.
