Wonder if one of the three who turned out was the rider Campbell was claiming in December was holding the club to ransom. #justsayin

Glasgow V Coventry (challenge) 27th March 2016
MD replied to george.m's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
True but since 2008 the general population has experienced an precedented drop in living standards where wage inflation has been non existent. The only growth seems to be in zero hours contracts and semi skilled jobs being driven to minimum wage by a never ending stream of very cheap labour from eastern Europe. Pricing is a difficult issue, Glasgow look to have priced themselves between the Rocks basketball and Braehead Clan. The proof is in the pudding, we may attract fans particularly families who attend the hockey during winter but alienate a minority of long term speedway fans who cant afford to attend every meeting especially in a 5 week month. I think we should be calling this one now rather than try to get it on for the sake of it. -

Unless we have invested in track covers cant see this being on. -

It rarely is for March speedway. A week can make all the difference at this time of year. -
If it is hopefully we have extra paramedics for the sun stroke victims. Dont want a repeat of last year!
-
Perhaps they have a kid on fast track system for NL equivalent riders to reduce costs.
-
The old guard are still there, they'll never change and neither will the culture they have fostered at the Monarchs until they move on.
-
Chucked cash at their product and improved the experience beyond all recognition. As far as I'm aware the only issue they have encountered in doing that is Edinburgh Speedway blocking their change of race day.
-
Surely its not taken this event for you to realise this. There are decades worth of the stuff.

He was immense when he came up with Reading in the mid 2000's at Armadale. Never did Ashfield as far as i can remember.
-
A nice opener, hope the weather plays ball.
-
How many genuinely fit into the someone told them category? Very few if any I would expect.
-
Most fans are able to make an informed decision. That decision is for them alone to make regardless of whether you agree with the justification or not. Labelling everyone idiots, a bit like Trump labelling all Mexicans as troublesome.

Indeed, it is around seasons 2006/07 that the 0131's stopped coming across in any numbers. It took the Tigeratti another 2 seasons to work out the one way traffic was for good and reciprocate. Scottish speedway is a fictional thing older Glasgow fans talk about when things are going well.

Other than 2015, it was a thing of the past. No one will bemoan the loss of the Spring Trophy and last year the Scottish Cup wasnt run and no one missed it either. Speaks volumes EDI did not exercise their right to reply on the infamous letter.

Makes it all the more reasonable to start our season in April.
-
Im sure Robert Ksiezak ended up with a 7 point average at the end of that season and we thought we were onto a winner! Until he moved into the 1-5.
-
The BSPA should have taken proper control of the situation and set a defined pay rate for the NL no7's that fairly compensates them for effectively being an apprentice and likely to score very few points. The NL riders should also have had to apply to the BSPA to join this scheme and be bound by the terms of it.

A decent signing for EDI. Despite not hitting the heights over recent seasons he now becomes third heat leader instead of top of the order and the pressures that brings. Add in the confidence that comes from riding Armadale as your home track every week and that EDI are likely better payers than PLY, Fisher is a very shrewd signing.
-
He is also a foreign rider who could choose at any point never to return to the UK.
-
That could also apply to Campton hence there is little appetite for him. Not at home, we were fragile in the middle part of the season and had a decent visited we were there for the taking. Ipswich was one where Tungate sold his team an away win by inexplicably running the inside on the last turn allowing Morris to round him for the narrowest of victories.
-
Here we go, which Brits could GLA have signed as alternatives?
-
Hopefully we can give Garcia decent support behind the scenes with plenty of practice, coaching on how to improve his gating and some help with engines. Im sure there is better to come from him. Lunna im assuming will fly in for meetings which isnt ideal and is maybe Palovaara on a lower average. Both are welcome though. Worrall was a given and should give us good service. Reckon Barker will start at 5 as none of the other top 5 will want to ride with him!

2016 will be a defining season in the tide turning our way. Everything goes in cycles, the good years at Shawfield didnt last forever and neither will these i suspect. We will however enjoy them when they are here and get it right up them.

He's popped up at various places over the last few years practising. I dont think he has ridden since the new silencers came in in 2011. His average would be around 5 i think. Surely Precious Joe should be due a return and would offer less of a risk than Lawson.
