  1. Indeed but we the fans dont deserve it, when it is within the clubs' control to fix.
  2. The pits cleared that quickly you'd have thought a fire had broken out. Bach wanted a word with Bates, im sure any other rider would have at least listened, had a few heated words and rode away. Bates on the other hand responded in the only language he knows. Ive never understood punching another riders' helmet but he had a few goes anyway to confirm he's really not very bright.
  3. Glasgow were beaten before a wheel was turned by what im sure was with the best intentions, by preparing the track heavily with biblical amounts of water to give the home team the edge but which did the opposite. Ayres was twice on his arse, Garcia bit the third bend air bag damaging his bike and both Lunna & Bach were clearly uncomfortable and not prepared to try the big runs round the third and fourth bends. Why we couldnt prepare it as seven days ago is lost on me, the weather has been good with no threat of rain. A bit like British speedway we dont seem to learn from the past. I listened to the TM's interview that the team wanted the track the same as last week. Did they get it or was the incessant tractor grading a futile attempt to redress the problem? At the second grade the shale was coming away in clumps with the tractor driver dumping the mounds from the grate on the back straight. The focus of the meeting will be about Bates but in reality it was a poor meeting strung out for too long. Three 1-5's from heats 6-8 and a further in ht14 confirmed Somerset a deserved win. Despite 9 race winners for Glasgow, we were often outgated for the other places. Makes Friday night a formality though we now see Josh Bates three times in the next seven days and incidents like today give dicks like him an edge to do that little bit better.
  4. The travelling support started to disappear in the mid 2000's when the club had a relaunch under a new promoter. I remember one fan telling me the then promoter would constantly change the team and you never knew what team you were turning up to see. Im not sure if this coincided with job losses in the area but its the old story, once fans stop coming they get used to it and rarely return.
  5. Doubt it, it will reduce the number however we will likely not have enough riders to fill team spots and end up begging Aussie 3 pointers to come over.
  6. What percentage of the PLRC crowd were actually Sheffield fans? Fans no longer travel the way they used to and these type of events are greatly devalued in the modern era. I suspect that holding it at a normally well attended club on their usual race night would be just as good, and free up a weekend in the process.
  7. Speedway never learns from its own issues. The PL cut off should be the end of August with each round of the playoffs given a defined week e.g. week commencing 1 September so that it can be dealt with by the end of the month including rain offs. October speedway is rarely fun and its always freezing. Its also time for shared events to be moved away from weekends and for a more robust fixture list to ensure clubs dont go weeks on end in the summer without a home fixture when the weather is often glorious.
  8. That's true but closer to home Summers lack of form/confidence continues. He almost binned it when leading in his third ride entering the third bend under no pressure. In ht13 I didn't get the trundling round at the back, skidding playfully on the white line disinterested on what was going on ahead when a bit of effort could have caught Campton, as Garcia did earlier in the meeting. If the motor is a dud change it or borrow another. This engine thing has gone on for too long, its the time of the season to put up!
  9. They put themselves about thats for sure. Starke caused the accident in ht14 by running into Ayres when he had been left behind. Campton guaranteed to guest for BWD next week.
  10. Not seen or heard of Dishington for a while, wonder if he's been found out or perhaps absent for retraining.
  11. So could Worrall and Lawson if Lunna gets moved to 3 or 4 if required.
  12. GLA have still to go back to Edinburgh for a rained off PL fixture but thats the least important of what is to come. If we can schedule Worky away for this Saturday and get it run our fixture situation will become much clearer.
  13. Met Office forecast is no rain until 4pm but its just chucked it down for around 30 minutes. Interesting to read on another thread about Met Office getting it so wrong on many occasions, this being another.
  14. He isnt as dominant on big tracks like PB or the new BV. Watching him at BV he is reluctant to go right out wide in the mid to latter part of the meeting and at times will frustratingly stick like glue to the white line which leaves him vulnerable. Riding like that on big tracks isnt going to get him anywhere if he gets another chance in Poland. He may be better to try the second tier in Poland which is littered with PL standard riders which he could compete against and get himself better known. Having a try out once a year with Gorzow wont present much opportunity as a couple of duff rides and its door closed. I could see Cook switching EL clubs next year to one of the smaller tracks and coming back to EDI, milking the cash cow of easy heat wins to boost his finances and confidence.
  15. Perhaps but likely a whopping loss to the club with fans not turning out to watch this nonsense.
  16. Glasgow have switched Worrall to 5 and Summers to 3. Not sure i agree with it, the Worrall/Bach partnership works well.
  17. 1. Yes 2. Have a track grade 3. No 4. Yes 5. Maybe 6. Depends on the Somerset leg.
  18. Quite an enjoyable meeting despite the wet with heats run in quick succession. Glasgow's desire to win was tremendous with Lunna, Summers and Bach just never giving in. Ht15 was superb with Bach chasing Wells for 3 laps before going under him though may have benefitted from Wells goggles pinging off at the end of lap 2. Credit to all the riders for giving it a go with the categoric exception of Jensen who gave up before the first bend in his first two heats and pulled onto the grass. Hansen worked his socks off and Vissing let his frustration get the better of him at the end of ht13. Never say never but Glasgow should have safe passage through. Roynon seemed to have bike issues in the early meeting and Jensen was disinterested which counts for 5 R's.
  19. Not exactly looking forward to a classic meeting with Worky as visitors given their normal away record.
  20. Confirming any aspiration to ride at another level is gone and returning to milk the cash cow of endless easy heat wins at Arma.
  21. Superb! Four league points when you really really need them and Campton has a stinker. Doesnt get any better. Makes the EDI restaging less significant if we get it before the cut off.
