  1. Likewise, we have persevered with him from a raw novice to a 6 point rider. He's had a few injuries but the inexperienced do. The best is yet to come from him IMO. Looks like a complete clean sweep other than Worrall. Dont think we can do this every season, a team needs a bit of continuity.
  2. The problem there is discretion. It should be automatic and beyond the influence of the key promoters IMO.
  3. Everything goes in cycles. Back in the early 2000's Glasgow and most others couldnt compete with Worky in the same vein as they underwent a renaissance. We ended up selling you Rusty Harrison, Aidan Collins, and Les I think. You won the bidding war for Simon Stead and money seemed no object. However nothing lasts forever and we will enjoy our time now just as you did then.
  4. If a rider hands in a sick note for one or two days I believe they should automatically be stood down from racing for seven days. That'll largely make the piss takers think twice but unfortunately will be to the detriment of the odd genuine one. However something needs to be done.
  5. We know, hence he is not expected to be retained. Turned up at Workingtons' end of season dinner allegedly which might hint at his next Championship destination.
  6. Still nothing about whether the July signing deadline continues and what mechanisms have been brought in to stop riders piss taking in September & October with dubious sick tickets when they dont fancy it.
  7. Thats not a surprise, im sure not even for Aaron himself. I think we helped move him up a level in 2015 and likewise him for us but this year that progress reversed itself. He moves on with our sincerest thanks and best wishes. He wont have trouble finding a new team though hopefully not the dark side. A decent signing as long as he actually scores points and doesnt get excluded. Richie needs to have a word.
  8. Glasgow were Bewleys' third priority in 2017. He knows where his bread is buttered and its not in our league.
  9. So much for Berge. Cracking line up so far. This will probably bring the best out in Auty who won't have the pressure to ride at 1 or 5.
  10. Everyone was signing for Glasgow in October!! The one that got away was Steve Worrall, what a signing for Scunthorpe.
  11. That Berwick match was in the middle of July. Thats half a season he was pretty woeful for. We got the full repertoire of clutch, setups, tuner etc but nothing changed. A change of scene would be refreshing for all. The points limit of 42.5 may have increased his choice of clubs.
  12. We will have to find an alternate raceday when we visit the already established Friday teams. Most likely this would be a Saturday or Sunday. Lakeside rejoining may also be a Friday club.
  13. If being the word. Think we are all beyond the belief that the offspring of former riders will all be like their Dads. Proof will be in the pudding along with the small matter of a work permit.
  14. True but keeps the next averaged rider struggling in the main body when they could do with a spell at reserve. Whoever is the higher averaged reserve must have an impact in ht8, something we were frequently exposed with this year. Winning ht2 is a prerequisite.
  15. No chance Perry, big let down. Was talking of retiring last month. It also rains a lot in Glasgow so thats Schlien ruled out. The rest could be a goer.
  16. He is only 21, plenty of time to improve. I thought he would end up at Edinburgh as their 3 pointer next season. A full year there would have got his confidence back.
  17. Bickley, Sarjeant, Garcia, Lunna, Harris, Worrall R and AN Other depending on the points limit. @wontbefaraway
  18. Could quite believe it, a phenomenal sum of money. Its not just financial support Cook needs its also trustworthy mechanics on the continent to prep and move his bikes around to each venue. Im sure he could also benefit from a sports psychologist!
  19. The two riders falling out wasnt the sole reason however that Berwick meeting was the starting point of our decline. Summers seized his main engine that night and wasnt the same thereafter. Up to that point it was abundantly clear Perry had outperformed in the opening weeks of the season and became the 3 pointer he actually is. With Jack Smith largely not at the races we were getting little from reserve, and we also couldnt seem to get a run of home fixtures with three weeks sometimes between meetings. Add in that Bewley forgot to come to the party with the odd exception of Redcar away and the heat leaders were under serious pressure to score and it showed. Whilst that was happening other teams strengthened up, Graversen replaced Branford at Sheffield, Greaves joined Ipswich, Harris to Peterborough then it was our turn to have r/r for Lunna. We became fragile even at home as the ht 13-15 collapse on the road became common at Ashfield. Im sure it'll come out in the wash if we tried to make a change but the end of July signing deadline certainly wouldnt have helped us or anyone else.
  20. Cook? Rumour yesterday was Worky cant afford his £1400 guarantee per meeting and CC refuses to budge.
  21. And that rounds off a rather flat season. Bewley and Summers were woeful, not sure if by design. You could speculate some of our riders had one eye on their 2018 averages. Barker was awesome, Morris and Campton were decent, even Proctor looked somewhat competent in the slick. So its goodbye to most of the class of 2017, best of luck with your new teams. Good to hear the track will be widened over the winter with the infield being taken in to provide more racing lines. Three years in the owners are still striving for improvement in the product. Bring on 2018.
