  1. Unfortunately its not unknown. Id bet Willie Dishington hasnt even read it.
  2. Money is one thing but he needs regular racing to stay sharp. There just arent enough Championship meetings to do that. CC will have to wait for early changes required elsewhere in the Premiership.
  3. Its found its natural place. Over the last decade, other sports have enhanced their professionalism whereas speedway has done the opposite. The days of businesses handing out cheques are long gone. At its most basic level reviewing the uplift in sales or increase in exposure for their investment would likely be nil.
  4. In all likelihood Edinburgh and the majority of other clubs ran at a loss last season and have nothing to give. The gifting of 30k or whatever it was, to Edinburgh was entremely generous but naive. Believing that it would generate goodwill that would be returned in future or a time of need, even moreso. The money has gone, it didnt buy anything that benefitted Workington speedway.
  5. All the ingredients are right to satisfy the faithful and see them continue to turn out in good numbers. Glasgow speedway on the other hand didn't close Worky and neither did their fans, so its hard to fathom the venom from the CA postcode area that has been continually directed towards us over the last 18 months and particularly the close season. You would have to go back at least 10 years to find the most bitterest 0131 for similar, but even then, most of them weren't as incessant. I did say most and not all! #workymonarchs
  6. The ignore function should preserve your sanity from the all too predictable ramblings of utter nonsense from the usual suspects.
  7. He shouldn't have felt that he needed to, for what is in reality 20 - 30 nobodies on the internet. The anti Glasgow rhetoric on here particularly from Cumbria is overwhelming at times, i hope they find a new interest soon rather than continually post their fits of petulance towards GLA. So its welcome to KB, seven weeks to go until our first meeting. Another good season in prospect.
  8. Glasgow fans reckon they are owed a season worth of heat leader performances. Oh well.
  9. Give it 6 weeks into the season and the excuses come thick and fast, Louis will be on the phone again.
  10. Bus loads! We tried to hunt him in May but couldnt find a replacement. Infuriating watching his lack of effort for us then pull off heroics for Poole.
  11. No chance. Had the shoes originally been on the opposite foot no money would have changed hands.
  12. S Worrall for Cook would save up 2 points to bolster the bottom end and get rid of Sarjeant.
  13. The first full season in 2011 we won the league. The second season he was on a rapid decline and the third was plain awful. Reading Speedway Star this week Stewart is quoted as saying he will only be able to help with the track on match days. That should be to everyones benefit though the track guy will have to stand up for himself if results dont go to plan and SD demands knee deep tracks only a select few can ride, as he has done so often previously.
  14. The scope to make changes mid season won't be there though IMO. With the higher averaged riders like Morris and Lawson pushed out of our league, I would expect Cook's average to go up. Should Cook get injured it will be an even bigger issue trying to cover for him. Around a decade ago we were in the same position when the points limit was reduced we stuck with Parker on around 9 and the next averaged rider was Leverington on 6.5. When we regularly couldn't get guests on a Sunday it was r/r with Leverington then the highest averaged rider. It didn't make good viewing!!
  15. The Glasgow fans arent responsible for the signings, we read the same statements you do. Email the club if you are so aggrieved.
  16. Which will require the team to be restructured to fix.
  17. Both rider and club would have benefitted from his return. However its 2 hours to Leicester or 8 hours to Glasgow.
  18. Its asking for trouble when we have struggled with one 2 pointer over the last 2 years.
  19. Good point, and while we are here debating this have these issues even been considered by the decision makers in structuring the team.
  20. Widely held view. I wonder if Cook was actually signed up before the season ended and long before the 38 point dilution was agreed. I think we may have done this last year with JPB when 2 pointers were compulsory and we built our team early to accommodate this only for the rule to be binned at the AGM. Can see some proper pumpings on the road. Last year we struggled to get heat advantages when our 6 or 7 were programmed, this year will be a whole new kettle of fish.
  21. Again! Like its worked previously . Similarly uninspired, a bottom three, reasonable middle three and illustrious No1. We surely could have found a more inspiring 4 pointer than Sarjeant to freshen things up. Remains to be seen if Cook will miss many meetings.
  22. Deja vu from 12 months ago. Still waiting on the kick on.
  23. A rare but welcome outbreak of common sense. Unfortunately the thread has also been taken over by those from the school of whoever shouts loudest wins, another unforeseen consequence of social media.
  24. Any team with Sarjeant in the 1-5 has a weakness. That team would give us three passengers and a top four. Got to agree about having Steve Worrall at the top of the order rather than Cook, if thats the plan. For the first half of last season we got little from the top or bottom of the team, Cook would solve one of those though a decent No 6 could offer flexibility in any heat and for up to 7 rides which is where we have suffered in recent years.
  25. 24 pages of utter sh1te and not a single signing announced. #resentmentcentral
