  1. Another decent meeting at Le Stade D'Ashfield despite the dust in the first five heats. Some good stuff from Cook, Lawson, Barker and a return to form for Summers. Eastbourne's 2 pointers had some good tussles with Connor Coles who doubled Luke Chessell's season long score in one meeting. Starkey still lacking speed and a decent gate but seems much more comfortable on the road, not always a bad thing. Onward to the wee team next Friday.
  2. He's got form for missing EDI. Van broke down en route last time.
  3. Our league has been sacrificed to make the big league look better. In reality most of this years Premier teams would have been Championship teams last season. The legacy of that is a ridiculously low points limit and the return of 2 pointers. This was largely a disaster in previous years with the odd exception.
  4. That creates more problems than it solves. If there was another 2 pointer available we would have changed. LC has jumped too early in my opinion. We have only had 3 home meetings and he looked better on Friday than previously though was only going to get points from Danny Phillips.
  5. Another decent meeting at the Field of Dreams. Jensen's charges off the inside line were superb against Worrall, with Cook imperious. Chessell continues to struggle and Starke looks pretty slow. Only the bitter cold and the ht15 result from Armadale tainted proceedings. Cant see us getting anything down at NCL but we'll see.
  6. Some good races in this one with Pickering, Wells, Jensen and Cook. Despite pinning back the Monarchs to just 2 heat wins/heat advantages we should have scored more. Frustratingly they both came after the much maligned ht10 interval having bossed it up to then. Makes me think we could of got something on Friday night. Onward to Friday with NCL.
  7. More likely a sign that very few 0131 are interested never mind travelling over. For both teams though the season has yet to get going, the June fixtures will likely be more hotly debated.
  8. Having switched to night meetings lm not a fan of Sunday afternoons. The track is often much drier and different to ride. Should still be a home win but may not be comfortable. Lets get stuck in.
  9. That was 20 years ago, no one buys riders anymore and the system is largely discredited. It doesnt need a complex replacement. Simply riders are contracted from the start of the season to the end.
  10. That doesnt work either. When we did that previously there were several teams adrift at the bottom of the table before the first set of home and aways were finished leaving the rest of their season meaningless.
  11. Friday 31 May seems the earliest re-staging date with both teams having Friday fixtures between now and then.
  12. Don't agree with sacrificing Starke at 5. Going out with Bickley at reserve in three heats and having ht13 doesn't inspire. The only prediction I can make is Chessell won't get 4 rides and will find it a challenge to turn the bike never mind race.
  13. Unfortunately the Glasgow tradition is prioritising the top end of the team, then whoever will fit at the bottom ! Its caught us out season after season. The last occasion we did win the league we had interchangeable reserves for most of the season but no point letting the evidence get in the way of a strong top end. Would be good if we could sign a potential developer on the premise that we would keep them for 2 seasons. The first to find their feet and the second to reap the benefits of the first rather than having to learn a new home track and not having to worry about getting the sack. Ideally Jack Thomas would have stayed this season but the travelling was significant for him. A couple of the Belle Vue NL riders caught the eye at the Cook Testimonial and would be ideal for next season but as for this one who could possibly come in on a 2 point average and score the odd point, I'm not sure. I reckon Danny Phillips might get a couple of points the next time we meet Newcastle.
  14. The Team Manager should be smart enough to recognise the vulnerability in ht8 and switch reserves. Im not liking the look of this one!
  15. Having two 2 pointers was the trade off to get Cook in the team, unfortunately. Problem is i dont see anyone on that average who is available or any better. LC needs a year in the NL to build his confidence then work out if he wants to step up to the CL.
  16. The frustration will only grow as the season progresses. Last year he became harder to replace as each month passed as his average kept dropping. You also have to factor when the grasstrack season starts and another shot at the GP qualifiers for the unreliable (or poorly prepped) equipment issues to start. His average is what it is for a reason. If last season is anything to go by, his Championship club will get the least effort, infuriating the life out of you when you see him on BT Sport a couple of days later performing heroics for his PL team.
  17. After Harris last year I doubt there are any guarantees.
  18. Back down to earth with a bang after last night. Was looking like a bit of a pumping at one stage. Sarjeant in ht15 tells it all.
  19. We are starting the season 3 weeks later than we normally do and it shows. The track was smooth, no heavy rain or frost over the last week to cause problems in prepping it. We should start at this time every year. Its also a chore to stand on the terraces in bitter cold, but not last night.
  20. Superb opening meeting for the Tiggers, big crowd, 15 minute queues to get in and some decent racing. Mid April racing is so much better than March. Berwick started off well, were sharp from the gate but seemed to fade from ht 8 onwards. Garcia was never the same after a fall in his second and Flint wasnt really in the hunt. Jensen was immense on his home debut as was Bickley, after years of trying we may actually have riders who can use the inside line to good effect. With Sarjeant only having 1 starting offence it was a decent night, the downside being Etheridge taking a flyer into the fence at the end of ht14 when his throttle seemed to be stuck open. Hopefully he is ok, onward to Berwick tomorrow.
  21. We thought that last year in April. Wait til the grasstrack season starts and no doubt another futile attempt at the GP qualifiers, you will be lowest on the priority list.
  22. As did most competent riders. He's on the slide big time.
  23. Likewise, especially at reserve. Cant think who would have tapes problems!!
