  1. Perhaps people should actually give King a fair crack before knocking him, esp you all of people SS. It's that sort of typical atttitude that people like you display that give an aura that you want him (King) to fail so you can gloat. Fact of the matter is, you've not seen Danny ride week in, week out this season where as I've been to most home meetings at Ipswich this season and Danny has been outstanding, our most consistent rider.
  2. in response to the original question, no, alcohol shouldn't be banned from being sold. Banning alcohol is not the main issue here, what should be discussed is the issue of responsibility. Most people are sensible but sadly, you nearly always get a section of people who just pile the drink down one after the other until they're so legless they can't even remember who they are or anything. If people actually took responsibility and looked after themselves, it wouldn't cut it out complete but hopefully/probably cut down such behaviour. People should know their limits and act accordingly, and if they can't be sensible, they should be booted out of the stadium. I wouldn't want my evening at speedway to be ruined by drunken louts and no-one should have to experience that. The British Grand Prix is the one day of the year where citizens across the UK (no matter whether they are from Scotland, Wales, England, Northern Ireland, wherever) come together and meet new people, as well as possibly catching up with friends they don't get to see that often and go to enjoy the whole spectacle of not just the day, but the weekend away. We should be proud to be able to say we're British but sadly, the behaviour of some has knock on effects for everyone and thus, we all get generalised in the same boat.
  3. The phrase "if you can't take it, don't give it." seems to apply here. Emil's been quite aggressive in some of his moves in the earlier rounds of this year's world championship so he has to learn to expect that he'll get some back. Its horses for courses and as long as there is no crashing or malicious intent, fine by me. Nicholls was merely defending his position but Emil threw his rattles and let his very poor tempremant get the better of him. As I've said before, for everything people may say about him, Scott is not the guy to go looking for a fist fight with as the replays showed when he recovered and swung a beauty of a right hook that even Mike Tyson would have been proud of , luckily for Emil, he had his helmet on. Emil is a talented rider, but he's making as many 'enemies' as he is 'friends'. Anybody for Round 2 in Latvia?
  4. Emil is a gifted and highly talented rider, but he really needs to take a good look at himself in the mirror and improve that awful tempremant of his. He's won many admirers off the track but on the track, he's making as many 'enemies' as he is friends. Nicki has marked his card, and for all people may say about him, Scott is the last guy in the paddock that I'd try to pick a fist fight with! It was a hard defensive ride from Scott but it was fair too, no contact at all yet Emil threw his rattles like a child being told by their parents that they can't have any pick and mix sweets. As for the semi-final, Hans to me was a bit lucky to get away with it on both occasions. He 'parked up' on the first turn and gave the impression that Harris came charging in and knocked him off when he could have stayed upright. I'm no fan of Nicki, but I have to say I was amazed to see him being excluded when Hans clearly wiped him out. It's ashame that referees' inconsistencies are ruining the speedway spectacle, both at league and grand prix level and its something that does clearly need addressing.
  5. Talk about handbags! Got a boxing match on the side On a serious note though, Emil has shown to millions of people around the world and the fans in the stadium that he has a lot of growing up til to do. Ashley Holloway as well, what a pillock. Thinking he can throw his weight about like a heavyweight boxer, to$$er.
  6. and of course, who can forget this one as he says almost every grand prix he commentates on: "And that man Rune Holta, the norwegian born Pole, who now rides on a Polish licence." I didn't know that
  7. The statistics prove it Andy, Britain is where he performed best (out of the trio of UK, Poland and Sweden), the stats don't lie. no bert, I'm not joking. Your kidding yourself surely that he'll pick up? Everyone every year sits here saying the same thing "don't worry if Nicholls is crap in the first four rounds, Cardiff will see him back to his best." But one round doesn't make a championship? well, unlike yourself who has made a judgement already and automatically assume that Nicholls will turn things around, I'll wait and see how things go. Come World Cup, I may well be saying Scott is the right man to lead GB at the World Cup, but right now, all is not well with Scott and he seriously needs to buck his ideas up.....
  8. Nicholls is finished. He made the worst decision of his career so far in dropping Britain from his schedule, which was the only one out of the trio he's consistently performed any good in! He's making himself a laughing stock in the grand prixs and TBH, if he doesn't make the Top 8 this year, which is looking an almost nailed on certainty, I hope that he sticks to his word and won't accept a wildcard invite. He doesn't deserve to be in the GB squad for the WTC but Lyon has already appointed him captain At least Harris gives it 100% every time, even if he doesn't always get the scores to match it, be it Grand Prix or league racing. Nicholls had his best chance of winning a grand prix last year at Cardiff, but as usual, he bottled it in true fashion that only a British rider could do.
  9. Scott Nicholls, the British number 1? not on this evidence
  10. "Tomasz Gollob, the seven times Polish national champion." Seems to repeatedly ram that down us, even though he's said about 100 times before!
  11. On current form, both Nicholls and Harris don't deserve to be in the 5 TBH as there are other British riders riding far better than them. Rico Woffinden Bridger King Kennett with Allen as backup. We should go with the youth as at least they'd give it a go and we can't do much worse than the pathetic showings from our so-called world-class riders of recent years. If Lyon wanted to pick one 'experienced head', then it should be Rico as he is the only British rider I'm aware of that consistently averages around 7 or more in Britain, Poland and Sweden. Nicholls has turned his back on his home country, just like that, after all the years he's been looked after by various clubs and supported by the fans. All he cares about it seems is the Grand Prixs so let him do just that, but of course, Lyon will probably name the usual mob. It's about time bold moves were taken and we looked to the future.
  12. what a ride from (whoever) like a knife through butter
  13. no surprises really --- given the fact it was the news on BBC business report this morning that Ryanair have lost £90m in the 3 months to December 08!
  14. thought so cause it's a special day (26th) for me and thinking about going
  15. if my memory serves me correctly, the date for the Italian round is 26th September?
  16. at this rate, our scores from last season should count towards this year!
