Not sure throwing the blame in the direction of BMR is wholly fair, although some of the decisions made were poor to say the least, the moto cross track is an example. Only one year ago we were all enjoying big crowds there.........on a Saturday night. Wednesday racing has crucified us, and no mistake, and with no vote at the agm, it does not seem as though BMR had much choice. Yes, in hindsight, second division speedway suited us more, but at least the owners had some ambition, all those talking fondly about Len, and calling for his return are conveniently forgetting the last few seasons of going through the motions, the dreadful teams, and the crowds leaving in droves, remember the "if you dont like it, dont bother coming" quote of his ? I, like many, are devastated by this, but if lessons can be learned, and sustainable speedway can be brought back..........on a SATURDAY night, i will be back like a shot.

Would not have Kennett if he rode for free. Too many couldnt be arsed away performances, and never looked interested in playing a captains role. We started picking up once he had gone. Robbo has been my rider of the season, did everything expected and more, and Barker got better and better at home, and never gives up. Wells was solid and again, did everything expected. Same 1-7 for me, although Ben is a worry on away tracks.

This season was always going to be a learning curve, but by the end of the season, we had a team that would have scared the hell out of any of the other three in the playoffs, in fact, I would go as far as to say, that by the end, we probably had the best team in the league. Its always a matter of opinion, but I would say that its this reason, that most fans would be happy to have the same team back next year.

Four of us went last time, but after the "light breeze forecast" call off last time, thats us not going, will head for Swindon the next day. -
According to his own website, he misses Saturday.

A "tip" of a stadium is better than no stadium, my first love was the Reading Racers, when I lived there, and how is that team and stadium these days? I would dispute your description about our stadium, its getting better. I agree with the comment about too few matches, but there are plenty of threads about that on this forum already.

You mean like at Kings Lynn when Rob Branford obviously had machine issues ? Scott and Bomber were helping him try to sort it during the whole meeting, whilst the 100% team man and skipper just sat in his chair in the corner ? Last year there were all kinds of rumours flying around that there would be no speedway at Rye House this year. Not only have we got speedway, we are now in the top league and we have Bomber riding for us. Crowds are way up, remember the final years of Lens reign ? Yes, BMR are new to the game, mistakes will be made, but just go back a year or three. I will take what we have any day of the week.

It makes us stronger away, and at reserve. Gutted for Ellis, he is one of the finds of the season, and now a victim of the crazy rules that punish success. Onwards and upwards though.

Kings Lynn Stars Vs Rye House 07/06/17
royal replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well, there were three of us going tonight. Will not bother with the new date, something well fishy going on here. Will look to another away match instead. -
Watt out, Wells in. Just announced.

Chucking another name into the ring, dont all sigh, but has anyone looked at Heeps start to the season ? -
Some video kicking around on the Rye House fans facebook page

Yeah, they may have to rethink the bloke sitting on a deckchair taking your money at the gate plan !

It also did not do us any favours when football finally got its act together, built family friendly stadiums, managed to eradicate most of the hooligan issues, and thanks to massive influxes of money from various sources, attracted the best players in the World to come over here. One look round just about every speedway stadium, and you can see that the owners/ promoters made no attempt to try and keep up. Whilst I have very little interest in football, and am fairly happy in a run down stadium, others are less inclined to see it that way. My missus and daughter love their speedway, but the constant delays to grade the track, fiddle with the clutch, tape infringements, etc etc, completely do their heads in. The modern child is brought up expecting non stop entertainment, either via computer games, social media, or a football match which at least, apart from half time, is always in the go. I see them at speedway, bored stiff with yet another break/delay. We have changed as a race, speedway has not adapted to this. Just one or two random thoughts

Whilst slightly worried about Watt, I wouldnt swap any of them. A good team of entertaining, mainly British riders, who will put on a good show at home, and should compete well away. Considering the teams we have been given the last few years, its like Christmas day to us fans. Cant wait for the new season.

I have a feeling Branford will surprise everyone being negative about him in some quarters.. He is a really good prospect. Not seen anyone else I would rather have at 6.
-
Really pleased with that. Branford will really kick on and make a mockery of those that said our tail would be pants.
-
As long as Branford is in there, I dont think we have any issues whatsoever. Its a great team, and its mainly British, which I really like.
-
Me too. More than happy so far. For me, Robbo was the rider of the year last season, and I am more than pleased that he has been included. There is a reason that he was one of the most popular guests in the league, you always get 100% from him. Many people seem to be forgetting that the new format is Premier League plus, and there is no reason why he shouldnt do well.
-
Love it so far.

Good start
-
Ah yes! 9.27. Back to the drawing board.
-
Would happily live with that team. No major overseas commitments, and all riders who will go well at home.
-
Didnt want this, but its going to be something different, so lets be positive. Anything other than Saturday nights with maybe the odd Sunday and I am screwed. Live too far away.

Sorry Baldyman, but I would like to take issue with this. Some of the best racing this season has been at Rye House. I live way closer to Ipswich than Hoddesdon, but I choose to watch my speedway at the latter because it is so much better. I have been to Foxhall twice this season and thought the track and the racing were awful. Please not EL for the rockets ?
