  1. i'm a wee bit behind in this but here goes anyway... had a suave time, with great company - Pammie (and loads of our non-forum pals), the Fairies, Chivs and family, Jay, etc, etc. 0830 flight from Edinburgh on the friday morning (yawn!), into Cardiff after a quick taxi ride and then off out for eats. an enjoyable / relaxing day followed but, er, we won't mention night time Hotel - The Lodge by Macdonald. nice and close to the City Centre but, most bizarrely, we had a double bed in our room! it's the first time i've ever slept with a bloke (also, hugely extortionate drink prices - tut tut!) saturday - got up for brekkie and found i couldn't face food! eventually settled for a mug (or 2!) of hot water. in the afternoon, we headed to the PoW. watched the football (Peter Crouch - legend!) before taking a brief (too brief!) trip outside while i waited on my food order coming back. good to see some familiar faces again, as well as some new ones. then it was off to the stadium... seat - almost same as last year. top tier, section U18, 3rd/4th bend = suave view. Bonnie Tyler - very lazy vocalist. probably music's answer to Michael Coles. ie was capable in her day but should surely now know it's time to stop... the rap - pretty awful. did they really sing "speedway player"? and why are the riders playing football in the video?! the racing - i enjoyed it (maybe cos i was sober?!). i'd probably put it 3rd out of the 6 held at Cardiff so far. tube features - the joint worst performance by a Wild Card this season. nuff said. Lee Richardson - p1sh. unprofessional Scott 'red light' Nicholls - fell yet again in a semi final - will he ever get it right? thought the ref was altogether dodgy, the only one he got right was excluding Hancock in the Final. well done to Jason Crump on his win, and hats off also to Jaroslaw Hampel who won my mate some dosh on his each way bet! sunday - as most folk were leaving, i spotted Joanne and Kev H, so i popped out for a quick hello... "oh, it's Jamie... King Jamie" said Joanne then, before i knew it, a blonde wifey chipped in with "Jamie Luckhurst fan" and i was standing there thinking "who the hell's that?!" it wasn't long 'til i found out though - twas none other than the infamous Shazzybird (i presumed the mature chap in attendance was Uncle Ted but i wasn't brave enough to ask!) all too soon, we were back at the Airport awating our (delayed) flight home. as i said, i had a suave time and, as well as Shazzy, i also met for the first time: Jay (er, love the signature!!), Fat Tractor Man, Queen Bee, leavesomeforus, Gangsta Fairy, TNT133, Laura Fisher (i think!), Kat, Silver Cheetah (wasn't brave enough to speak to him though!), and i'm sure there were at least one or two others but i'm that old i've forgotten already as they say, roll on next year...
  2. er, probably because he's saying farewell to Britain edit: i presume he won't come back ala Boomerang Wiltshire
  3. poor Hans he should never have dropped the N from his name
  4. shoot everyone ...then we wont have anything to moan about
  5. you wont be getting any drink from me, i'm Scottish ...and getting sunburnt
  6. wasnt that taken when she was interviewing Scott Nicholls during the World Cup last week?
  7. they should sack Sophie Blake - she's useless why cant they give the mic to some lassie with 'normal' looks? there must be plenty going around. surely it's not that difficult to find one who can actually speak properly and have a conversation with a rider without practically asking him out? PS must admit, ive never actually looked at Sophie's, er, bumps either. am i really a bloke?
  8. i saw a wee snippet during last night's meeting. can't remember if it was the playback from Swindon or not but i remember saying to my olds "i'm sure i met that wifey with the hat at Cardiff"
  9. you should've made those ones pay-per-view then - you'd have made a fortune
  10. was i? wish i'd known. couldve said hello to a former classmate of the real King Jamie (you mightve seen me at breakfast? i was the skinny one with short dark hair and a weird curly fringe ) that's true. i was quite a way towards being p1shed by then though
  11. Edward was staying in my Hotel i didnt say hello though cos i wasnt 110% sure it was him. besides, i'm Scottish and he prob wouldnt have understood a word i said
  12. ive no got a scoob where i'm sitting i'll need to ask Pammie's dad! mind you, i dont think it matters where i'm sat, i'll prob fall off the thing if previous form's anything to go by
  13. twas me! nice to meet you too (sorry i didnt say much - was actually quiet for once!) i saw a fleeting glimpse of Joanne as she said goodbye to Pammie at the end of the sunday afternoon meeting but didnt get a chance to say hello myself (too quiet again!). back at work today. unfortunately, i think ive got the flu cos i feel terrible. i was gonna post my thoughts on the weekend on a separate 'lighthearted' thread but dont have the energy (ok everyone - get those violins at the ready ) suffice to say, i had an absolutely suave time: very good racing, decent Dutch (etc!) music, good food, strong drink and great company.
  14. i got mine for Christmas but have read a few wee bits (although not from the beginning ) so far, cos ive been pretty busy. seems like a pretty decent read so far
  15. i think mine might've arrived this morning but i guess i'll find out when i get home (our posties are a right lazy shower up here!). was a wee bit worried cos i ordered it online and it said something about "we'll be in contact soon" but i heard nothing. then i got my visa bill on thurs / fri and it mentioned "football promotions" or whoever - thought my dad had been ordering more coaching manuals look forward to reading it though
  16. i remember seeing his 'van' (a bit bigger though!) at the Longtrack in Collier Street last year and being suitably impressed... and that was before i saw him race at Armadale! well done young man
  17. NL90? i remember that book - it was brilliant i bought it when i was in my teens (many moons ago now sadly!) - that was the one with the bright yellow cover and the title in huge red letters? i remember wondering what the riders thought if / when they read what he'd said about them! while Mr Callaghan's book is about the PL, mine is a personal story about last season. lots of people from all over the country have commented on how theyve enjoyed reading it (including a certain Glasgow Speedway promoter who shall remain nameless! ). of course, ive also got some 'controversial' comments included (i prefer to call them 'honest' but not to worry!) but no death threats as yet Mike Hunter has mentioned handing over the responsibility for the Edinburgh programme at some point in the near future but, like Mr Callaghan, i'd prob get banned pretty quickly so i wont be the one taking over!!
  18. sounds as if Mr Berry has read my book and thought "i like that kid's style, i think i'll have to write my own memoirs!" as i said elsewhere, i'll prob buy it to see what the competition for the Christmas no.1 slot is like PS there's loads of humour in my book too - hope he hasnt gone down that line as well - wouldnt want them to be too similar now, would we?
  19. Gary Gugelielmi? i remember seeing him years ago at Powderhall. after the meeting, i strolled up to him in the pits and said "excuse me mister, how do you pronounce your name?" he just looked at me and replied "Gary" as for the underage guy, it was defo Neil - there was a story about it in one of those glossy A4 books, either Inside Line or ShaleTrail 2. i remember Inside Line having a cool 2 page spread about Jamie Luckhurst, thats the only reason i bought it! was a good read though
  20. hm, quite interesting - i didnt know about the David Norris thing - cheers VV! cheers to the rest of you for your info - much appreciated
  21. calling all Wimbledon fans (or, well, anyone actually!)... years ago (early 80's i think), there was a junior called Jay Pleece. i'm pretty sure it was Wimbledon he rode for cos i followed Jamie Luckhurst's scores quite a bit! anyway, if anyone knows where he is now, etc, i'd be very grateful. thanks in advance!
